Wonderful blog! Yes , French people do smell good! Lol. This was a very juicy video. I’ve come away with lots of ideas. I just started a new job and need some nicer blouses so it’s great timing. I can’t figure out how to fully use and post on instagram on my iPad,I need my 15 yo grandson to come help me but I do follow you there! Ohhhh I’ve just “found you”. Thanks for the YT. I love the patina blouse and have made a couple (long sleeve) need to do another one now with short sleeves. Also loving your fabric choices (must be a Yorkshire thing 😂). Off now to make a blouse (Newlook K6678) it’s the sleeves that does it for me (when did I suddenly have this urge for statement sleeves). Might even enter the April sewing challenge competition. 😊

I am not a blouse person although I love shirts and blouses. Because I am bigger on top I have always hated the buttons pulling on things that I have bought. This has always been something that, bust wise, I needed a bigger size but then I looked like I have a Grandad nightshirt on so nope. Now that I am making my own clothes that can change. I am really inspired by your vlog Ruan to make blouses. Thank you. Karen (2Pinkshadows).

Just sewn the last button on my Patina. I'm pleased to have finished it. I made a lot of extra work for myself with cutting to make the most of a border print, french seams etc etc

I would definitely like to make some of the blouses you mentioned, though I am running out of time 😬 I love the Wren blouse and the Patina. I’m the opposite and prefer lower necklines 😃 I have made a Norma blouse for the challenge already but prefer the fit of the Wren. I really want to make another Wilder blouse. The blue fabric is fabulous.

Love Maison Fauve patterns - typical French chic! Remember they have several different free patterns for tops, definitely worth a look. I'm not so keen on the latest Tribeca but I think the Mia might be your style as a summer top.

Have you seen the Olya by Paper Theory?….it has the most unusual detail sleeve and yoke with a right angle join…I’m too scared to try it in case I wreck it…but it looks so classy!!

Great vlog Ruan and so much fun. The blouses you’ve made are brilliant especially as I think there is so much work in a blouse, as much as a dress really. I like the Wren and Marie, I didn't realize By Hand London went up to the larger extended sizes! I'll have to wait for a sale or birthday money at $23+ CAD for a pattern! I know they are worth it, but with the cost of fabric here and the pattern it ends up being the cost of a whole outfit! lol Your makes are always amazing!

Thanks for this! Very keen to try the Marnie, but am a bit put off by the amount of ease and am thinking of sizing down. Too much volume is sometimes not so flattering! Did you make a size based on your body measurements? Especially love your double gauze one 😍
All your blouses are just stunning 😍. I am trying to decide which to make but I always have so much trouble with buttonholes I choose over the head blouses...must work out those pesky buttonholes now! By the way if you need any help with the French, I live in France and speak the lingo so happy to translate.

Hi, I've been sewing for over 40 years, but due to children and work was only ever able to sew occasionally ,now due to the dreaded breast cancer, I have masses of time and have been sewing up a storm. I would like to enter the sew April blouse challenge, but not sure how to . Is there a good tutorial that you know of, that explains hastags and how to tag photos?

Can I just ask about the norma? Never made a fibre mood as I'm not sure which you get the seam allowance included in, is it the pdf paper or magazine? Can't wait yo see yours xx
Thanks lovely. With the Fibre Mood it depends what format you have. If you have the paper version and have to trace it you have to add on the seam allowance. This is indicated in the instructions on the page that shows you the pattern pieces (it’s quite difficult to work out but if you struggle drop me a DM over on insta and I’ll take a photo of what I mean!). If you get the PDF you get two copies. One with seam allowance and one without. Hope that helps! 😊
Hi I’ve made two blouses which are a hack of the Style Arc Selina blouse. Very beautiful blouses you have made and I don’t think that yellow is too bright I’d wear that, but then I teach at junior primary and the children love seeing what I make. Silk is a favourite as they like stroking it at mat time👀. I’m making sure we have future sewists 😂.

I don’t think so unfortunately as it’s not a natural fibre. I do still love it. Just need to be brave enough to wear it 🤪

Love the Maison fauve, however I’m disappointed that it’s in printed format only and they want £8 to fedex delivery! Are there UK suppliers? Otherwise, could you use your considerable influence and northern girl charm to get them to release on pdf!?! 😂
He he. Yes I’m sure there are UK suppliers. I know Andrea from Beyond The Pink Door sells them. I think Fabric Godmother and The Foldline also sell them ☺️

Yes it probably could. Only thing it’s a polyester blend so might be a bit warm 🤔

Don‘t you think it is interesting that all those frilly blouses and dresses are not liked at first sight but grow on you with time. Reminds me of the time the mini skirts appeared. People were appalled and with time passing they were worn everywhere.
