  • Since I bought my 1964 Hillman Imp Race car, I’ve been non-stop. Restoring the interior, customising it to my liking and fitting in new tech. Now, the car is finally ready for my first ever car race this weekend at Silverstone. In fact, when this video is released, I’ll be doing Qualifying! Watch to the end to see what it takes to prepare a race car.
Overall, it’s been a long project but an incredibly educational one. I’ve learnt how to wire most of the car, drilled holes where I never thought I would, and properly rigged the car with cameras and audio for my future videos. A lot of other small bits happened off-camera too! There is LOTS of cool stuff to come. I’ll be critiquing and analysing my own driving and the races to give you an insight into how I think. You can help me as well with advice and tips.
    The Main Parts:
Seat: Cobra Suzuka - Standard Width
Quick release: Racetech GT Quick Release
    Battery: Varley Lithium Li-5
Race Navigator: • RACING VIDEO DATA LOGG...
Pedal Plate: OBP Dark Matter Drivers Flat Footrest
Foot Rest: OBP Dark Matter Drivers Footrest
Cage Foam: Demon Tweeks Roll Bar Padding
Leather Straps: Holden Vintage & Classic - Leather Bonnet Straps - Short

Hope you don’t regret moving the oil pressure warning light away from closer to your eye line !!!

So do I! I'm thinking I'll put another on the dash where there's some clear space. Just bought an oil sensor for the correct pressure also.

I put it there for the reason that I could not afford to keep rebuilding the engine

Not what I would call competition car prep, but then I prefer to drive my cars rather than polish them. The most important competition car prep is to ensure it gets to the finish because without that you can't win, after that you can show it off.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. That's fair. I can assure you that this car gets polished and driven hard! And maybe it's the polishing that lead to my win at Brands ;)
