- Rabat is the capital city of Morocco in North Africa and the political and administrative center of the country. In this vlog, we visit the traditional Moroccan guards, walk the Kasbah, and photograph the ruins of Chellah.
While it is less touristy than Marrakesh, it is filled with impressive historic sights. It is one of four Imperial cities of Morocco, and the medina of Rabat is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Chellah - This is an ancient Necropolis with scenic gardens, Roman Ruins, Islamic Architecture and 13th C Mosque. We also listen to the traditional Moroccan music.

A richly ornate mausoleum where we photograph the Moroccan Architecture and guards.
Kasbah of the Udayas
Also known as Kasbah les Oudaias, this is the most picturesque part of Rabat. The Kasbah has beautiful alleyways with whitewashed and blue walls. Scenic views of the Bouregreg River and the Andalusian Gardens.

Love those Roman ruins! Great learning about the exotic ancient city of Rabat through your wonderful travel vlog!
Those are not Roman ruins. But the soils of an unfinished mosque. The project was initiated under the golden era of the almohades rule by Yacoub Al-Mansour in the 12th. century.
The ruler had successfully buildt Al Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakesh, the he built the Tower of Al Giralda in Sevilla. Then the ambition of building an even bigger Mosque beguin reality and work started. Before the mosque was finished, the dinasty of the Al Mohades collapsed and was defeated, and lost all the power.
As a result the work stopped, and the site was left abandoned.
