  • In this travel vlog I'll show you the real Rabat. The capital city of Morocco is not the biggest on the tourist trail, but certainly has it's charms and was really the biggest surprise of my trip!
    I'll show you not just the sights such as the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Chellah, Kasbah des Oudayas, the Parlement of Morocco, St. Peter's Cathedral, the Medina, Rabat beach and the waterfront, but also around the central areas of the city that you're likely to visit as a tourist and some of the great food you can find there.

      I was at Rabat 15 years ago it was a big city and very lovely and unique. With different looking places all over but still à Rabat style.
      You should walk around near the city of Rabat also if you don’t know your city. I live in France and yes i also don’t know some places of my city very well.

  • @besttech3216
    @besttech3216 Před rokem +14

    Rabat is basically divided to three parts:
    - old medina (old city 700 years old, includibg Oudaya where pirates lived back in 16 century)
    - colonial city (where the train station is)
    - New city is what was build after the independance 1956, and this needs transportation to go from place to place.
    Personally I love Rabat, it gives good vibes and you can live the history and modern times (talking food, clothes, music…).

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis  Před rokem +4

      @@ChrisKermis Hi Chris, those pirates are the direct descendents of all the moorish people expelled from spain in 1492 or later in 1609 (jewish and muslims).
      They tried to create their own city under the control of the sultans Saadi or later Alaouite dinasty sultans.
      The pirates did even reach the costs of Britain (Island of Lundy in Bristol Channel), Baltimore in West Cork Ireland and even reached Iceland.
      Those old houses you visited in the old city (medina) are the same houses where pirates or slaves were living. Same street but today it has electricity and internet 😂
      Each corner of my city Rabat can talk about the history that it have seen since the 12th century.

      Rabat is not lacking any conveniences, we have malls, archeological sites ("Rabat City"is inscribed in the UNESCO Heritage). We have modern buses, tramway and very modern infrastructure, biggest bridge in Africa, biggest theatre and tallest skyscraper. In Rabat, we have more green spaces than any city. Rabat is a very clean city. Casa is cement city, Casa is a dirty city.

      @@user-fi9dk3gt6d hardware stores and many of other items for spare parts or electronics etc are very limited in rabat/sometimes inexistent,while you have lots of choices and good prices in Casablanca. needless to talk about going out. again it's not that far so ppl might consider traveling and getting what they want unless it's a too big to carry.

    I left Rabat in 2018 just when the cleaning and beautifying effort was gearing up. I see that it's not 100% there yet, but it's a much more pleasant place than I remember. Next will be Sale and I hope some unthinkable day Casablanca gets a serious facelift and a cleanup too.
