      Hard to say for someone else, personally my order of the two was Morocco -> Tunisia in terms of first visits. Morocco is more touristed so has more infrastructure for tourists if that’s a consideration. Both are fairly easy and great to travel though!

    I am an American female who has lived in Tunisia for several years. I think your advice is good and practical and accurate. One time to just pay the high price is the taxi from the airport unless you have only one lightweight bag and you want to take your chances on walking to the highway. If you can't negotiate, just show an amount you are willing to pay--15 or 20 dinar--and now, it is not common to charge much extra for baggage. If you are solo travelling, have some small euros which most drivers will take; know the exchange rate. Excepting taxis to and from the airport, taxi prices are really very, very reasonable. I travel by louage, but in the summer, the louage is HOT and there is no air conditioning.

    Thank you Chris - that was very well filmed and presented! I was surprise that a 3 day tour wasn’t more than 150 Euros- was that including hotel and evening meal and breakfast, so you just paid for lunch? I just came back (May 2024) from a couple of trips to Morocco- I flew to Ouarzazate courtesy of Ryanair £45 return. Stayed at AirbnB Hotel Atlas in the centre for about £15 a night and took local cross-country buses to various places (cost about £10 eg to M’Hamid in the desert - 5 hours) stayed in a comfortable desert camp AirbnB run by Brahim for about £12 a night - woke up surrounded by sand dunes 😁! I recommend both those Airbnb’s - basic but comfortable, safe, and friendly- I’m an 80 year old seasoned budget traveller. As Chris said, you need cash, but there are lots of cashpoints- don’t get your dirhams at UK airport ! Pete 😊

    • @ChrisKermis
      @ChrisKermis Před 5 dny

      Thank you 🙏🏽 Yes it was just 150 Euros including the hotel, desert camp, evening meals and breakfast. Overall a really good deal, particularly if you’re traveling solo.

  • @orozcoaj69
    @orozcoaj69 Před 5 dny

    There are definitely a lot of tourist traps along the way. The coffee shops, the lunch spots, all are designed to bring the tour buses. The “co-ops” are also tourist traps. The food is expensive and mediocre. I think the guides/bus drives get a cut or free lunch for bringing people in. I experienced this even with a private guide 😢 I know some people drive themselves but I noticed a lot of police stops along the way. I wouldn’t feel comfortable. The only thing I wish I had stayed two nights in the camp for more photo opportunities. One night wasn’t enough for me, especially after a lot of wasted time with the useless stops

    If Meknes had better leaders and a mayor that doesn't accept bribery, we would be the best city but we are just so overlooked, they give Fes more attention because its more known, the mayor is so greedy and chases money a lot that just the restoration of literally one door and the walls around it (Bab Al' Qazdir) took 4 years. I hope we get better leaders that actually give attention to this city
