I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother would try to have a pretty large garden. My husband and I had one a couple times. Nothing beats the taste of fresh vegetables you grew yourself. If prices keep going up, we're all gonna have to grow our own food. You and John work so well together!

Fresh grapes are the best. My grandmother shared grape vines with her next door neighbor for many years. My grandmother made jam and jelly, her neighbor made wine, and they both made stuffed grape leaves. My favorite was going outside and picking a cupful to eat, still warm from the sun.

Mary your yard and gardens are absolutely stunning with the waterfall and the birds and all the flowers. I live in Indiana so I understand having color is Spring. I also understand about procrastinating, (at least I do) about planting bulbs in the fall; but I do it for the same reason you said. Color!! With all the nature around; what a perfect peaceful place be alone with God, do a Bible study or just sit and enjoy the sounds and the scents of nature. How fortunate you are. I am working on turning my backyard into my little peaceful Oasis. I cannot wait to see your garden grow. I love the little wooden mushrooms and the mushroom pillow covers. They are adorable! Also isn't it amazing to see the different colors and types of flowers and plants that God created. It amazes me every Spring and Summer. There's just so many different and he has reason for each and every one of them. Amazing.
Your energy and stamina is amazing. Every time I work in the garden within about 30 minutes of digging, planting, weeding, mulching, watering, my back starts hurting me and by an hour I feel almost crippled. You are a force of nature!

I always liked to walk around barefoot in my garden especially after it’s freshly tilled and fluffy but we built 10-4x8x2 raised beds after garden season’s end last fall. Tromping around in these giant boxes just doesn’t provide the same whimsical feeling.. hahaha. That being said, I will never stop barefooting my way through each Summer. Never.

PS. It doesn’t pay for me to have a vegetable garden as it’s only me n my dog now. But I do have a flower garden n I enjoy it everyday. Seeing all my flowers coming up from the seeds I sowed. My Zinnia’s are almost ready to be cut n placed in my Ironstone pitcher to put in the house to enjoy. ♥️♥️😊👍🌟🌟🌟

On your cucumber trellis, I always slip an empty glass bottle over the top spokes sticking up. It looks nice and protects you from bending over and poking your face or an eye. I also do that on all my bamboo stakes! Your new garden looks amazing!!

You have such a lovely garden Mary. I am in the process of rebuilding my pond so I know what you mean by the yuckiness in the spring. I find that muck tablets help with that tremendously. Just plunk them in the bottom of the pond, the beneficial bacteria eats that muck. Thanks for the tour, I'm looking forward to seeing your veggie garden through the season.

Peaceful, beautiful, serene, God’s glory.
My husband puts the hose that empties into the pond off to the side so it pumps water down the hill. Then when it’s empty as it can be he uses the wet/dry vac to suck out the rest of the water leaves etc. He then cleans the sides and bottom with the power washer. (Perfectionist) 😊 One year we were having our septic pumped out and I had my husband ask the guy if he could just suck out the whole pond!! 🎉🎉🎉 Which he did! 🤗❤ Hope that helps for in the future.

Years ago we move to North Carolina my heart stood still when I saw this Creek running alongside of the home we bought is 25 ft from my bedroom window, and this whole side of the house. I fall asleep to the sound and wake up to the sound still pinch myself every day
Here in Northern Illinois we are finally getting outside and mowing. I was out barefoot today on the deck and I have my pansies going. 70s for the rest of the week. I love this time of the year.😊
Yes,gardening is a lot of work but it’s so rewarding and everything taste so much better than store-bought!! Enjoyed seeing the spring flower tour of all the different colors popping up. And that pink flowering dogwood 😲😲!! I would love one of those but we’re almost too far north they don’t do well up here😟

I recommend getting Amazon's garden tarp material. comes in 6 ft rolls. Blow torch your hole for your plants and seeds. No weeds at all. You can sit on the tarp and pick green beans!!! They should be good for over 6 years. Next year we just turned the sheets to plant items in different area of garden. Buy the steeples to hold it diwn. Again no weeds!!!

Your yard and surrounding area is so lovely and I loved hearing the rain. Here in southeast Kansas we are very, very dry. We had a dry summer and not too much moisture during the winter.
