Seriously? Never has the world seen such a reaction to the loss of a musician since maybe Elvis and MJ. As far as a specific instrument, the guitar world has never seen such a loss, out pouring of respect and admiration. From "closet" VH fans coming out of the closet, major artist doing interviews, bands doing covers... Poison rode the VH wave into the 80s glam rock scene as much as anybody so a EVH inspired solo is the least he could have done.
If anyone can attempt the great eruption it's CC dude is so so underrated and kills it everytime. His solos on CZcams are just killer. Great to see him healthy and back with bret

He’s not Eddie, Randy etc. but he’s better than he gets credit because he wrote catchy riffs that have lasted decades. He is even self deprecating about his playing, he knows he used to just spaz out during his drug days. Listen to Fallen Angel from 1990 and then 2022, he plays it more straight now than ever. Poison never claimed to be the best musicians, they wanted to be rock stars and nearly 40 years later, they’ve proven that much.

As a fan of that style and a player of that style myself my ear notices that. Now, if he had thrown in a harmonic minor or Phrygian dominant scale run ( Yngwie’s favorite scale) that would have been very interesting. God bless

He can play the full Eruption, but he wasn't going to go out there and play eruption as his solo spot, cause the first parts of his solo he does a little Randy Rhoads stuff as well. he get's like three and half minutes only, they have to stick to a tight schedule, so everything has to be exact. He was just throwing out a little tribute to EVH at the end, which is classy and nice.

And Poison has never been about Serious music, it's about fun. So get over yourself dude. First off, I’m a HUGE CC fan. Love the guy. This take sucks. Yes, he is shredding, for sure. But it sounds like shit. The tone is off, and there in none of the heart, dare I say soul, that I’m used to seeing in his playing. It’s skillful, but not soulful. And soulful is what draws me to CC.
If you're that great of a guitar player.. Why don't you do your "own" solo, instead of ripping off Randy Rhoads and EVH... because that's what that was
