A truly special baby seal rescue: instead of biting his rescuers and running away like most other rescued seals, this baby seal was very relaxed and comfortable when Antoine and Naude from Ocean Conservation Namibia (OCN) managed to catch and release him.
They spotted him at Pelican Point, close to Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, during their usual morning patrol to look for entangled seals. This one was caught in a big ball of commercial fishing line, which was probably thrown overboard a fishing vessel.
Human impact on our wild life is immense. Ghost fishing nets are a huge portion or our ocean rubbish and plastic pollution, sustainability is not regarded as important. This injured baby seal was lucky, he was found soon before it would have taken his life due to starvation or suffocation.
Our animals deserve better.
After this rescue, Naude and Tony quickly caught and released two more seals - it was good day for OCN and our seals. 🦭

Wrong. 😑 we need less people interacting with animals and trying to save them. There is to much of it halting their evolution process. These seals look more like they are heading towards the 4 legged type evolution process on land or possibly bipedal. The human interaction on a lot of animals on the planet is halting all these types of animals. By not letting them just process and let it be. Regardless that was so cute though 🥰

Who's trash is there? It's all of our trash, even these guys trying to save some seals. You think just because they save seals they don't use oil? They probably drove to the beach on a car, using oil. Supporting those same oil rig workers who tossed the overalls. The longer you do seal rescues, the more the seals get used to your presence. I wouldn’t be surprised to see smart ones coming to you for help. Especially if you rescued them before, and they understand what you do.

Bless you guys, I really think the world needs to take a hard look at the fishing industry. What's currently being done in the oceans are appalling.
The number of videos on this channel is uncomfortably high. Why is there not a ban on fishing around this breeding ground? Watching some of these videos and the pain that these animals have to insure in unacceptable. There should be a marine protected area declared to protect against this abuse

This is and interesting topic. Yes he saved a life... but he catched an animal and forced it to stay, when it clearly wanted to go. In this video everything was against the animal's will. Who we are to decide what is good and what is not. I mean there are situations where thirsty animals go to humans and ask for water but in this situation the animal didn't want the human to touch it. Who we are to decide in an animal's name? I mean there were a woman who gave a hug to a little deer because she tought that it makes the little deer feel good but it's mom no longer cared about that little deer. All I said is: we can't force any animal to anything. If he get's its trust and it lets him to remove anything then it is ok but if he has to force the animal it is not ok.
