I used to have an open cage policy with my 2 ferrets. One of my happiest memories is of my ferret Bernie waking me up from a nap by standing with her back legs on my chest, her front paws on my chin, and licking the tip of my nose with her little touch. I love and miss you, Bernie and Stash!
I think I understood. The most important thing to do in order to make a bond with your ferret is to wait for him to poop first, then do the rest.😂

i tried putting my ferret on my arm and used coconut oil and he really enjoyed it and was very cuddly with me and actually doesn’t even wanna leave my arms anymore… made me so happy

Ferrets are amazing how they adapt to your schedule. One thing not often talked about are the joys of elderly ferrets. They will still play a bit, but they've mellowed out and just want to hang out with you. Being a working musician, my practice was at night and we had a routine where they'd get a treat and I'd set up a small bed for my little Beatrix. That was her spot. And definitely talk to them. They know your voice.
This is so true. The older they get, the more they just fall asleep in your lap. It's the most wonderful feeling ♥
@@TheModernFerret I truly miss having them around. A lot of people don't get how in tune to you your ferrets are. They KNOW you. Mine knew if I was having a tough time...either they get extra silly to get a laugh or extra cuddly. Another thing NO ferret can resist...guitar cases. Cheers.

Would you consider doing a video about deaf ferrets sometime? We recently discovered that one of our babies is deaf so he's very easily startled lol. (He has no problem terrorizing the cats though!)

My legolas loves to cuddle up in my chest snd sleep I think it's does wanders for both of us now my other one Panda kinda does his own thing he loves to get wet when outside and then rubs around snd plays in the grass but isn't much of a cuddles .

Can you maybe do a ferret night routine? Because I don’t know if close the cage or let them free ad play at the houses at night?
If you get out their energy in the morning and in the evening, it's totally fine to put them in the cage for the night. That's what we do! If they had a ferret room, you could let them run loose. Remember, the habits you take with them become their routine! If they know that night = cage sleep, they will adjust to it. If night = free roam, that will become their new norm. ♥
I feed my ferret Wysong Ferret Epigen 90, and I just give her a full bowl of food at all times. Is there a specific amount she should be eating per day?

The wait for them to poop is essential step you do not want to step in
😅 If it helps, try removing their bedding to get them to poop first, or put them in a ferret proofed room with no bedding so that they can wake up and poop!

I adopted a one year old male and got another about 2 to 3 month old male and they want to play but the older one gets too rough and displays his dominance and ends up hurting the little one. any tips on the best way to bond them?
I will be getting a ferret soon and I wanna know if from 7:30am to 5pm is oka for the ferret to be locked up will it affect anything if so
Ik this was 5 months ago, but ferrets need at least 4 hours out of their cage a day, but letting them out for a more extended time than 4 hours will make them happier, and I am pretty sure 4 hours a day can't be a daily routine, and if you do this too often it will make them very sad. So I recommend putting your ferret in your room maybe? Get some extra stuff? Ferret proof it all around? That way you could leave him in a certain room where is cage is (or not) with a tunnel, litter box, toys, just enough food and water to last as long as you're gone for, not too little not too much, just right amount for depending on how long you'd be gone, maybe if you have 2 ferrets they could socialize? But that also depends on room size, etc. And they should not be in that room for TOO long.
I have a ferret at my work well actually 2 one is sweet and doesn't bite the other one is way younger and is new to the store and she bites hard. Do you think the nice ferret will teach the younger ferret about biting?

I have I question. I have a ferret ant he does not like to eat anything except for his pellet food. And I think I want to put him on a raw food diet should I?
Ferrets can be very picky, and I don't recommend switching to raw food without going through a program or having a raw mentor. My first advice is work on getting him used to new foods, like wet kibble and uncooked/raw yellow egg yolk.
This might be a weird question, but how do you keep the puppy pad taped down/keep your ferret from moving it? My ferret always tries to move it around and go around it and I'm not sure what to do ;_;
If you are transitioning from litter to a puppy pad, put the litter on top of the puppy pad, so he begins to associate both with pooping. Also, you might need duct tape lol

I have a question that has to do with my ferret tail. She has been losing fur on her tail and I see small little black dots on it. I looked it up saying that she may have acne on her tail.
I’m hoping if you could do a video on it that further explains it and what I can do to take care of her tail so her fur can grow back healthy.
She’s a healthy ferret with a healthy diet. So doesn’t have any illnesses.
SocialGalaxy this is completely normal! The little black dots are black heads, fur loss on the tail commonly occurs during summer where excess oil builds up and the pores become blocked which leads to fur loss. It’s very common, there aren’t really any solutions but give it time and your girl will grow back a nice bushy tail ready for winter :)
Like Ferret ASMR said - this is very common and normal! This is known colloquially as "rat-tail" and can be seasonal or caused by clogged pores. You can try acne wipes/swabs and wiping down the tail, or anything with a gentle salicylic acid ingredient like this: amzn.to/2I3xxsK

The real daily routine: wake up and release the beasts, they'll be biting the cage, turning things upside down, cranking the metals as loud as possible. They'll come out like devils that suddenly saw the gates of hell open (hopefully, you managed to hide everything that you don't want to be taken from you). Whilst cleaning the cage, don't think too hard about their tiny size and how much poop they manage to squeeze out during the night. Watch in horror as they jump in your bed stinking as skunks, get under your pillow, blanket, etc. Soon they will be bored (like 10 minutes), they will come to you with that inquisitive face of "ok, what we have for fun today?". Get their toys and pretend that they are prey, give then a good fight and let them kill the prey and hide their bodies (the plastic pig dies twice a day, at least). You'll take your breakfast without sitting; otherwise, they'll reach you and steal whatever you are having (be careful with sweet stuff, it can kill them if you drop it or forget it in reach). When leaving for work, you'll discover that one of them got inside the kitchen furniture by breaching the tons of silver-tape that you placed there to avoid them getting inside of it in the first place.
Just leave it, and pray for the best. You'll come back later to discover that the devils managed to open your dorm furniture, there's poop in the carpet, and they are sleeping in your bed stinking like skunks. They will wake up and chase you; for some reason, they cannot go for their food in the cage all day. They will play more, kill the pig again, run with the rubber chicken, chase the plastic pig, challenge you for the territory dominance, fight amongst themselves. Later, they will align themselves, and perform whatever trick you want if you get a nice egg for them. They don't deserve it, but you'll do it anyway. They will be sleepy, cute; they will lick your face, your hand, they will accommodate themselves in your laps and get all the gentle petting you can give. At last, you will place in the cage, then go around the house after all the stuff they stashed, get all the toys, clean everything... After a hard day, a nice shower, then pyjamas. You'll remember them as you try to sleep because you forgot to change the bed. They are the cutest devil ever!

So my ferret is young and likes to play and I feel guilty even just saying hi for a few minutes in the morning or taking them out for only 10 min bc when I stop or put her away she continue to looks to play. Should I still just give her those few minutes even if she wants more or no?
How do you modify this if you have more than one ferret?
That's a great question! Many of these can be done with multiple ferrets (sharing space with them, leaving them your clothing). However, the one-on-one time with humans is very important to building a bond with YOU, so you might try switching off days with ferrets (Tuesday for Newt, Wednesday for Moose, etc) if you don't want to do them one right after the other in the same day.
Either way, you can't go wrong just increasing the time they spend with a human, even if you have all of them near you at the same time ♥

Ferrets on kibble need food 24/7, they need access all the time. There's no breakfast lunch or dinner, they need kibble all. The.Time. It's fine to offer some in a different place, but they still need access in at least one area. And that damp washcloth probably isn't the best thing to be teaching other people, as ferrets should not be bathed or wiped down every day, it should only happen when absolutely necessary. They need those oils on their fur. Please make a disclaimer.
Correct, while kibble should be available 24/7, spritzing some water on it or refreshing it with new kibble is still an excellent way to "serve" breakfast or dinner. The damp washcloth is recommended in Ferrets for Dummies as a bonding activity, and does not remove natural oils from the ferret's fur any more than them licking themselves does. Soap and shampoo strips the oils from their skin, and is the primary reason why frequent bathing is not recommended. @@TheModernFerret I don't necessarily think ferrets for dummies is a good resource for ferret care information. Ferret's tongues are barely wet at all and more act as combs rather than a tiny washcloth on their fur, similar yet not the same to cats. They lick themselves to comb out bits of debris similar to a cat's tongues. Warm water can and often does strip oils regardless, however I suppose as it's on their coat rather than their skin it wouldn't bother them too much? Though people could misinterpret. Warm water can and does soften and can wipe away the oils on the fur. This is even seen in human hair. All that is needed is to take away the water! Brush them instead! It gives the same bonding effect.
