  • Today we sawed some outstanding Pennsylvania Cherry on the Woodmizer LX 150 Sawmill. This log came from a blow down back in the woods. I rescued this log from down in the valley with the Wallenstein FX 85 Skidding Winch. We sawed it into 8/4 which will work great to sell or use for future projects.

As some people do not realize that the removal of fallen, sick and damaged trees is a very good way to insure the health of the rest of the forest. Allowing the sunlight to reach the canopy floor insures that there will be a forests for further generations to enjoy. If done right and with care there will be trees for many generations to enjoy and responsible harvest. The forest is like all other living things on this planet it requires Love and Care to continue. Mike and Mellissa are very good examples of when two responsible people care about the world and people around them. Love you guys keep up the great work! keep the videos coming.

My passion was my retirement job, over 30 years in the fire and end service! I was told once by a very smart man that if you love your job, take pride in your job and have a little fun now and again you will never have a boring day. He was my very first boss at the age of 14, working at my high school after school and during the summer months. Thank you Charles (Chuck) McCullough!

Thank you for your thoughts on negative people. Pursue your passion. If I would have listened to the negativity of “you’re not going to make it, you’ll regret it,” yada yada, when I wanted to join the Air Force years ago I would not have seen the 49 countries I traveled to, lived in Italy for five years and Portugal for 16 months, retired after 30 years, and here I am content nine years after retirement. People can kill your joy, we just need to celebrate and be happy for each other. Thanks for what you do. Enjoy your videos.

Hello you all! Love your chanel. Hard work never hurt anyone!
Every fall for the last 4 years 20+ men ranging from 18 to 78 years young turn out to cut, split and delivery. 14-16 cord of fire wood for a family that gears with wood. The father is handicap and can no longer cut wood. So we all join in and lens a hand, saw, truck. It's for a good Sat of fun and hard work. This last Oct we had 20+ men, 6 saws, 3 splitters, 8 trucks, 1 dump trailer.
No one got hurt and nothing broke! Good day!

Who is this absolute zero uninformed person? You only take dead falls, and normally only dead Standing wood for what you use. I live in south central Pa. We hunt an area the state had contracted for clear cutting 5 years ago. Today the number of young trees growing in that area make it impossible to walk through. I hunt an area cleared 15 years ago and there are so many volunteer cherry trees growing in that area still make it tough to walk through. But the wildlife loves it. You go ahead Mike and Melissa you two are very good stewards of the land you own and manage. Keep up the great work. Beautiful log great piece for a mantle over the fireplace.

Dear Morgans' Rescue Team: You are doing Great Work, and saving the fallen trees helps: The land, all them that would buy the wood and make high value items from same, yourselves, by creating a well of 'positive energy' that you actually share, and this helps others, who may be trapped in higher density locations realize 'just how this all works.' (Do note that the Pool will also create similar net positive benefits...The storage of water, alone, will establish a very real Benefit....carry on!!!! yaay!!!

Great log. I love PA cherry. Just a suggestion when you have beautiful lumber like that if you draw or paint a triangle on the butt ends the woodworker can pull the boards in order of the way it came off the tree. Makes bookmatching the grain so much easier and nicer for their projects.

Love what the two of you've shared. Used to live in Pa. years ago but now in Utah and would love to have a conversation about your set up. What you've enjoyed, what you'd do over and the cost involved. If you have the time it would be wonderful to talk to the both of you. Have a shop already but have always wanted a mill. Thanks for the good stuff.

Good morning Mike and Melissa, what a save from the burn/rotting forest floor. Converting to the winching abilities open up more wasted resources for sure. Even those 6’ cutoffs will/can provide some beautiful slabs for building lots of things. You both did a great job, like the song said years ago “ do what you do do well “ can’t go wrong with that thinking and doing !!👍👍 You folks are a prime example and we thank you for sharing with us. You were not handed the silver spoons but you are mining them and enjoying the steps to get them.

From an old tree man that is some damn nice wood!! Keep rescuing like you're doing. I'm so glad you have the opportunity to do something like that instead of watching it rot away in the woods or seeing it burn. Keep it up!

The camo pants are awesome. I would love to pick up the firewood processor. It would make life so much easier.

With negative comments about your selection of trees it me me wonder what type of house they live in. You gave a very nice, friendly matter of fact answer. If you ever need floor finishing done,I’d be glad to help you guys out.

I love that the Absolute Zero comment was pinned. I have met very learned people that think like that because it seems logical, but only if you are ignorant of how boreal forests actually propagate and how prolific they are. Nature abhors a vacuum, and seems to treat open fields as such. It is totally unnecessary to plant anything and like it or not, within ten years you will have a forest. If you plant trees, you might get a forest a year or two sooner, or the forest of your choosing as opposed to what nature selects, but a forest you will get whether you plant or not. In fact, billions of dollars are spent to prevent forestation as forests are what happen when you don't cut the grass!

I have found my cousins in Pennsy!
Seriously though, my family Root's are Pennsylvania Dutch. Fulton county/McConnellsburg area.
I'm somewhat happily retired here the Phoenix area, though a widower after our 40 years. I grew up in Indiana and have to say that I don't miss the Slipping, Sliding, Shoveling and Scraping at all.
Others think I'm nuts considering the heat we have but I don't let it get to me. Besides, there's the Pools we have here in Sun City Az, the nation's first active retirement community.
T-shirts, Short's and sandals are my wardrobe. 😂
