You are correct, it was based on a true story about a girl who was kidnapped and tortured by a serial rapist. She did manage to escape and he was caught. The song is from the perspective of the kidnapper.
Crap, I didn't know that!!!! All these years....wow.
@@bemused9522 and what you thinking this song about?)
If memory serves me correct, the plot twist was she saved herself by pretending to like it.
I didn’t listen to lyricis when I was young. It was just played in the background because it sounds good. I’m so happy I got to listen to this song I’m a new way that left me in tears
Yes.
"This is starting to go left." 😂 Girl, it started off dark.
fr x
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Every time I see Dave Grohl on drums it brings me back. So much talent in one band. Classic
Agreed. The three of the came together to change rock like no other band since The Beatles.
@@rustyforceps1012 true
Yeah, unfortunately this is based on true story. She was only 14.
Oh Kurt, every time I see him, especially during this show, I just want to reach in and give him a hug.
Man, you were right on point here. Kurt read an article about a girl getting abducted coming home from a punk show and she was held and raped and tortured. The girl managed to escape by making the kidnapper feel like she liked him and he let his guard down and she got away. Great reaction. Love your Nirvana reactions.
IT why Nirvana was so huge and was a light to follow for gen x
I'd love for you check out their song "You know you're right". I believe that it was one of the last songs, if not the last song, that they recorded together. It wasn't released until after Kurt had passed. It's one of my favorite songs by Nirvana, and never got the airplay or love that it absolutely deserves. Listen to it. I know that you'll like it. Much love to you....
It was their last song.
'Pennyroyal Tea' by Nirvana ✌️
Gotta say I love Nirvana and really love this song. I know it was written after
Kurt read an article about a girl who was abducted and tortured but escaped. I believe she even had her arms hacked off and managed to survive on the side of an extremely hot road (in a south-west state) until someone finally saw and rescued her. Kurts vocals are so spot on and looks like he’s not even trying. They were friggin awesome live. RIP Kurt💜🙏👼🎵💜
No. That was another girl. Her name was Mary Vincent. It was a terrible case.
That was another girl. He managed to get out of jail and actually kill a woman.
:(
That whole unplugged show is so good watch it ever so often . can't go wrong with Kurt ❤. 👍 Kurt 4e❤🌈
I missed my old mtv😢
It's really nice to see a female react to this its usually men who don't have such a raw reaction
this song was recorded for the Nevermind album in Wisconsin of all places...the only song on the album recorded there
I love that I got to see this after an ad for effing febreeze
Such talent and songs he brought us in his short life. 💕🎵
As others have said, it’s based on a true kidnapping of a young girl.
I always thought Kurt had something of an empathetic streak to him. With a song like this, he managed to embody the victim’s anguish even if the “story” is told from the POV of the perpetrator.
His empathy may have been a bit too strong for his own good.
There is this beautiful innocence about nirvana given he died at 27 but at the same time having timelessly good songs
There is this air of teenagesness throught nirvanas music
Yeah. Luckily I feel like I always try to keep certain aspects of my teenage self alive.
Hey Jayy hope your having a blessed day.
Finally another Nirvana! I love it

You nailed it! That's exactly what the song was about.
The "Polly" in the song is supposedly Polly Klaas, a young girl who was not only abducted by a serial, well, s*X assaulter, but she also outsmarted him and got away.
Nice, more Nirvana!
You are so spot on
This song is based on a true story that he heard about in seatle
SIIIXTH!
Curt had the ability to make the dark light, through music
Goose bumps - RIP - kurt 🙏
I've always taken this song as a warning to women.
Kurt was a feminist. I'm pretty sure he was just highlighting the horrible dehumanizing actions this man took
He read an article about an abduction and rape on a 14 year old girl, and wanted to make a statement on the evil of kidnapping and rape
RIP POLLY!
💖
REact to nirvana all apologies its a good song
Hi Jay check the song Can't Trust It by Public Enemy
RIP KURT
The song cannot be explained here , it is not
I love you Jayy, so I hope you won't be offended but this version is not as good as the New Wave Polly version off of the Incesticide album.
In fact Incesticide and Bleach albums are what hard core Nirvana fans listen to. Also listen to his last recorded song You Know You're Right
Nirvana was great live, check out live at The Paramount or at Reading and live From the Muddy Banks .
✌& ❤
Wow, I always thought it was about a woman on drugs, never knew it was about a woman kidnapped.....holy moly!!¡!
🤧🤧🤧
React to Prince The Keem Money Talk Remix ft ALG Blazer
Sad. True
"Tookin" is not a word.... In any language.
My comment regarding the meaning of this song was removed. That is messed UP!!!!!!! It included the number for the "Natl Sexual Assault Hotline"
A bit different!
I saw them in a dorm room at The Evergreen State College in 1988.
This song is about a 14 year girl who was raped a torched.
First
It doesn't matter!
This song is like the say - Reap song - bicouse one hichhiker stop a car and reap and kill driver girl and this song was played in the car!
This song is so messed up
he shot some shotgun shells..insides inside his h. what can i say? sorry? no it was cool
I can't even. Imagine. How troubled Kurt Cobain was to blow his brains out. Rip
Yeah, believe it was inspired by the Polly Klaas story
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Friend
From my interpretation, Polly is heroin. It's all about perspective from the writer's viewpoint.
the song is about rape :( but from the rapist perspective)
Rapist, not rapper. Very different words.
You want watch the meaning of poly. ?
