Vicious piece. Two things hardwood dowel and maybe put some grooves around the handle .... Like a Kabar Knife. Very cool.
It is hardwood and no grooves so you can change hand positions quickly.

Glad to see another one of your "basic parts" weapons vids. These are quickly becoming one of my favourite series that you do. Also, smart move keeping the chain short. Part of what makes a flail-type weapon scary is the chance of self-injury on recoil, and the short chain is a good way to limit that chance.

Nice build. You should emphasize that the head and chain should be short enough to not hit your hand while using it. A nice touch would be to weld the cut links.

I have a a wondering thought, a question of my mind?
If you loosely fill the head with sand would it impact like a deadblow hammer and absorb some of the felt recoil from the impact?
That said.... More please!
How about a trench mace with same style of head with a spike at the top for stabing
I was going to but the head had a nice weight so i left it, yeh I already have one up mate which i used lead shot in the head, felt nice to use
Have you thought about maybe sharpening the lugs to points on the flail end?
It could be done but im doing a spiked flail in future and this is damaging enough as it is

I've been playing a lot of Elden Ring lately and now must make one of these. I think grip lines on the handle would look great too. Is there a substitute for the cleaner you used on the pipe fittings? Also, what is it that you use as a wood finish? It has a nice subtle look. Thanks.
It doesn’t need grip lines as the purpose is to be able to adjust hand positions in combat with ease, use any grease cleaner and any wood wax will give the subtle colour
