      @@jac_91I don't think it's a lazy comparison at all. Most of the fan base had never heard of gusto before he joined and even though he may have been linked if a club like real madrid seriously wanted to pursue him like what they are doing with yoro at the moment we wouldn't have stood a chance. My point is like how gusto was the kind of profile we needed to cover for Reece James, Veira is the kind of profile we need on the left back position especially when it pertains to maresca's style of play. It doesn't mean he is guaranteed to be a success but at the price they bought him for it's worth the risk and could prove to be a smart buy like what Gusto was for us last season.

    Our left side was an issue: Chilwell injured, Maatsen loaned out, Cucurella initially not working out, Hall loaned/sold to Newcastle. Not enough production from Sterling, Mudryk and Jackson. Nkunku injured and not fully match fit. Compound that with a host of injuries to key players.
    Great to get all these short/medium/long term prospects. But a certified striker(s) with varying attributes to Jackson, and a sweeper ball savvy goalkeeper are paramount for Chelsea to compete for first place. We are mining everywhere but those 2 vitally needed areas. The team can boost the outlook for Sanchez and Jackson, but it won't carry us over the top teams. Especially with the youth and team structure change dynamics.

  • @peterchafer8176
    @peterchafer8176 Před 17 dny

    Why, and for how long, do coaches and tacticians persist with playing left-footed wingers on the right, and vice versa? Again and again we see them turning back on themselves to work the ball on to their good foot, often leaving team mates trapped ahead of the ball and static. They also condense play into a small area, allowing defenders the opportunity to block. There are formations in whichyou can play left-footed players in a 3-5-2 formation, playing in a slightly withdrawn role to allow wingbacks to go beyond them to create 'natural' width, getting to the by-line leaving defenders facing their own goal, and attackers coming on to the ball. If we are going for Chiesa, I hope that he would be used on the right in a 4-3-3. Veiga looks like a steal, and I hope that he is being bought to use in a formation which plays to his strengths; there too many coaches trying force square pegs into round holes.

    It's been obvious what the owners are trying to do. Like it or not, they are treating the players as stocks. Buy when the stocks are low, and expect their stock to rise. This is why they have avoided buying players at their peak as there would not be a sell-on profit.
    There will of course be some flops with all this spending, but the odd player we buy is going to explode into a world-class talent.

    Veiga is a good value signing for £15m but Calafiori is more refined and have a ton of experience in a top league. Obviously Veiga is talented and have a similar profile as Calafiori hence why he was signed by Basel as Calafiori's replacement. The main difference between them is, Calafiori is a naturally gifted dribbler, have a decent passing range and a starter in his national team. However, Veiga played in Bundesliga and a Swiss league as well. He was deployed mainly in DM, CB and LB. Therefore playing as an inverted LB would be somewhat straight forward. I believe these two players are similar but Calafiori is obviously ahead since he's two years older and way ahead of his development. Only time will tell who will get their money's worth.

    So here’s the thing: the. Right is of the world have thrived by signing lots of players, selling the big money future stars, and keeping the 20 to 30m value players.
    Why not continue to buy players and invert that model? KEEP the 100m value players at each position, and sell all the 20 to 40m that just don’t quite make the cut?
    And if we continue to sell them to quality clubs like Milan or in the PL, even the players that don’t make it will thank us for it.
    We will be bringing players through the academy and in through transfers to work there way up to challenging for a spot on the main Chelsea squad. No Rashfords walking around the pitch during matches because they k is you literally won’t replace them. A spot on the Chelsea squad will be coveted, and something you have maintain your levels to keep, because young, amazing talents will join looking to claim that spot each year. And to have an established system of that sort that is self perpetuating, with all the structures and organization in place WILL take a lot more than 1 or 2 years. Hence the project 2030.
    2030 doesn’t mean they want to lose until then. That is just the set date they have targeted to have in place something most fans can’t even envision at this point: grand in scale.

    I think Chelsea's plan is a hybrid of Real Madrid and Brighton, buy to compete now and tomorrow like Madrid and sell and make money where you can without damaging the integrity of the team. This is the reason why they are easily convincing players to come into the club, otherwise, they wouldn't be convinced. The only problem with this, if not done properly we might see the young players through their agencies not wanting to come to the club. There have to be clear pathways for player development whilst maintaining a competitive team both in the league and in Europe. Remember 2025 is also world club champions and Chelsea has qualified already, so maybe this is actually "Project 2025". I think we will see the very best of Chelsea in 2025 at the Club World Cup.

      Those are great points. If we go back to our winning ways the issue of being able to attract talent won't be a problem anymore. Part of the reason we've been able to draw in these players because of our history of success over the last 20 years. As long as we can get back to that we will be good. It's just a matter of now having our rebuild start to pay dividends. I also agree that with the trajectory we are going by the time we reach the 2025 club world cup we will start to bear fruit.

    Chiesa is a no for Chelsea! Come on boys, that guy hardly stays fit and who knows the reason juve are trying to offload him, plus he’s an inside winger. Maresca uses wide wingers,

    75% of your analysis on some of Chelsea players are rubbish. You complained about everything and you are not a coach. You are praising non tested young players in EPL it's ridiculous. Check all the young players you have been praising last season where are they and what was their performances so far.
