- THE ROLE OF ALL CHELSEA'S NEW SIGNINGS EXPLAINED. In today's Chelsea video, I look at Renato Veiga, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu and how they fit into Enzo Maresca's Chelsea tactical plans for next season. I look at the players stats from last season, as well as why Maresca's philosophy makes these three players great Chelsea signings. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

It was hard to "trust the process" under the past managers because we didn't see any progress, personally i have no problem of Maresca saying trust the process as long as we clearly see progress even if we don't win a game but if i see tactical progression i will happily trust the process

1. Transfer window - Great coach. Great addition. Brilliant transfers.
2. Preseason - Fantastic vibes. Great movement. We are the team to beat.
3. Christmas - We are horrible. This coach is stupid. Horrible players. I never trusted them.
4. New year - Change the entire setup. Now.
5. Year end - we are almost back.
6. Close of season. Don’t fire the coach.
Coach gets fired.
The cycle starts.
Exciting!!!
A couple of things to consider.
1) If we invert the left fullback into midfield, and we're playing KDH as the forward 8, who supports Palmer out on the wide right? Chances are that Maresca is still going to want 3 at the back, which means right fullback becomes a centerback. This in turn means Palmer gets to be outside right while the halfspace is attacked by the right-sided 8.
2) KDH is not strong defensively for a midfielder. His defensive stats are good only when compared with numbers tens, the likes of Dele Alli and Eriksen and such. He's better than Nkunku or Palmer in that regard, but people like Caicedo and Gallagher blow him out of the water in a pure midfielder context.

I think this is the season Chelsea will see where they are truly at. If Chelsea get the conference league group stages there will be probably 60-70 games and they will need the depth.

I do believe in the long-term Chelsea project, but I think we need a killer striker and a better goalkeeper to be odds-on for a top four spot this season.
We only need a decent LW and Desire Doue is one we can’t miss on, he’ll be a world class player and we cant let him go to Spurs. Sterlings leave and Doue + Mudryk competing on LW puts us at a much better place.

You're delude George. These three signings are perfect eh? You think Veiga is better than Chilwell or Cucurella? Dewsbury-Hall better than Gallagher, Santos or our other midfielders? Guiu better than Jackson? You get so carried away George without even kicking a ball. I remember signing Shevchenko when he was a top Euro striker but it doesn't always work out.
You cannot say they are a perfect fit without seeing them play with a Chelsea shirt against decent opposition. Maresca himself might be a flop, talk to Leicester fans how they feel about him. Maresca picks a settled team even when they have lost form, how is that going to work for the rest of the bloated squad?
It is great speculating but you're laying on the hype too thick which you tend to do. Obviously I want Maresca to hit the ground running but banding the words like 'perfect' are so premature.

Goal Keeper good with feet for Enzo's system seems to be the missing piece. Have more faith in Petrovic than Sanchez but happy to see how start of preseason goes.
As long as we can figure out our best 11 quickly and use the remaining players foe cup games/ as impact subs we should be alright

I wonder if the conventional wisdom - giving up on Chilwell - is just wrong. Injury recovery is so player-specific that it would not be surprising if Chilly comes into this season fit.

The signing of those 3 players was very good. They have the potentials to do well in Chelsea. However, Chelsea need to sign a striker, natural top 9, that can convert half chances. The mistake of last year should be avoided. They strengthened and left the space of strong striker, to put ball inside net. That macaque signing is a task that must be done. That is my personal opinion.

Dewsbury hall is going to be good for us, just like Palmer was last season, he may not have the goal out put but he will be a great signing, and me personally ill take 5 Cole Palmers over 1 Mbappe. Its been fun watching all these "top" strikers all shit the bed during the euros lol

Jackson did a very good job. Why are you guys focusing so much of the missed chances?? Haaland missed more chances last season than Jackson but because city created 4x more chances he ended up scoring more and no one dare talk about the missed ones. Jackson at only 65k a week, paid only 30m . He only 22 , first season in EPL 2nd professional season ever! 17 goals . Excellent hold up play, passion. Availability, commitment . Hunger persistence... I'll give him 8.5/ 10.

Cole Palmer was a sub at Man City because they wanted to be top and starting Palmer and his defensive liability does not get you that. England wanted to win the Euros and starting Palmer does not get you that so he was used as a sub. Palmer gets you goals, but is also the reason the opposition gets goals as we saw in the Euro final where he scored, but then switched of and woke too late to stop the Spain attack at the source. We will know if Chelsea will be in the top four by simply seeing if Palmer starts. Peace and love

Palmer and Nkunku or Dewsbury-Hall as the attacking midfielders. Madeuke and Sterling/Mudryk competing as subs in a progressive, possession play build-up.
Strikers are either Nkunku or Jackson. Still feel we need a striker.

I’m struggling to see how our new signings with the exception of Tosin take that 6th place team of last season to new heights. We’ve still not addressed the blatantly obvious lack of goals yet. It would be nice to sign a couple of established players you could see making an immediate impact.
Jackson missed a ton of chances and we still managed 77 goals in the league last season. A porous defence was our biggest problem, not the goals.
