yay!! I'm so excited you finally got to ben platt, he's one of my favourite singers. I totally get not being able to choose a clip for him, I could literally listen to him singing the alphabet and I'd probably be completely blown away. also, as a slightly more general comment, I love how in-depth you get in these videos. you really go all the way in analysing the singer's voices and I find that really interesting, especially as you do it in such an easy to understand way. I can't wait to see what you react to next!! (also, 'ben platt could literally murder me and I'd come back as a ghost and say thank you' is such a mood, I can't even explain-)
His performance really gets me because you know the character is describing what he wished had happened but didn’t - and later learn that that was how he broke his arm, but no one was there for him. Ben gives all that emotion and character, and it is so amazing.

When I first heard DEH, I just listened to the soundtrack with no idea what the story was really about. Loved this song and how happy it sounded. Then, I read the book and honestly DIED. This song has so many layers of emotion and it cuts me so deeply every time I hear Ben sing it. I mean, the whole musical is full of layers and layers, but WOW....you feel every single paper cut it gives you as if they squeeze lemon juice on them.

I love that he’s not just singing but he’s still in his character even with out anything to create it (costume etc) You could believe this song was written for Ben himself with how natural it comes.
I think I’ve seen this recommendation before, but I would love to see a reaction to something from Falsettos! Specifically I think “I’m Breaking Down” performed by Stephanie J Block or “The Games I Play” performed by Andrew Rannells! It’s one of my favorite shows and often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. 😊
Edit: Something from a StarKid show would also be incredible! Their show Black Friday was especially good musically!

I was lucky enough to see Ben Platt when he was playing Dear Even Hansen on Broadway. He was unbelievable. Tears galore. Also Love love love this performance! I have been listening to this particular performance for a couple of years and thus never fails to make me cry. 😢

Ben Platt is one of my favorite singers as well! He's truly amazing with his voice. I think he's the person who has gotten me to making me cry. And it's hard to make me cry with music. Usually my heart swells or I get chills. His emotions are just so...grrrr! I can't find the right word for it. It's just so so so amazing!!!

My favorite progression on a song. God it was so amazing to hear this song on the soundtrack the first time. Hearing Ben move from talking chest voice struggling with what to say, the high head voice when he 's unsure of his lie, belting when he's confident the lie is working, the calm "true friends on a summer day..." at the end when he knows he can get away with this. Telling a lie never sounded better.

I love Ben Platt's performance in the broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen. He has an emotive voice. For Forever and Words are the two songs that actually brings tears to my eyes mostly because its a relatable song and he's bringing in the emotions to the lyrics. Attaboy! I like that you reacted to his performance. I have yet to see any other vocal coach react to broadway music so much. Glad for this channel to open up its music genre. Honorable mention to the strings - its subtle yet it showcases when need be

So 'Dear Evan Hansen' has a very special place in my heart. I learned about it through a friend and unbeknownst to her, I was actually going through a really dark time. And I remember that I played the entire musical on a loop for probably several months. The way that Ben sang these absolutely beautiful songs, it really resonated with me and it truly did give me hope that things would get better, that I would eventually be okay. And I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way I did when I found the musical.
I don't know, Ben's music in general has helped me pull through.

I'm a little surprised you didn't mention is tears and lip quiver at the end. I got to see Ben Platt in one of his last shows of DEH. I met Concert Master Justin Smith and gamed cellist Adele Stein (seen prominently in the background). Mr.. Smith told me about putting this very performance together: having to arrange/rehearse the music due to the added musicians (the play only has a handful of musicians) Thanks to Mr. Colbert for having Ben on to sing this song--the first time it was sung outside of the play. The 3 crescendos on the song, the lyrics and imagery, the Ben Platt performance, the instrumentation just make a recipe of perfection.
