My name is Nicholas Higgs, I am a professional vocal coach and singer. I am incredibly fortunate to make music and share my knowledge to others on a daily basis. Nick, didn’t realize you were from Toronto. I had the privilege of singing in a concert with Robert Markus and our community choir. He is amazing performer and professional. Love your videos and TikToks and makes me want to be a better choral singer

I've never seen Dear Evan Hansen but love this song. Sam's vibrato on "Cause the sun burns bright" near the end of song is insane. So powerful and clear. They're all fantastic but his voice is my favourite

I watched Robert Markus earn his standing in theatre for years; he amazes me. He is my all-time #1 best ever favourite Riff-Raff in Rocky Horror. It should have been recorded, there's never been anyone who has done it better. I saw him do the lead in Next to Normal... jaw-dropping. And as Evan Hansen, wow, just wow.
I'm totally on board with the "Netflix for musical theatre" idea! There aren't enough musical recordings to watch!

My all time favorite rendition of this song! As for you ......I have a suggestion for a song...... "Out There" from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.....OR Evermore from the live action Beauty and the Beast. Both are AMAZING!!!!
Wonderful reaction and analysis, Nick! New subscriber here. This song is so under-rated. It never fails to bring me to tears. I love the double meaning of it being a heartbreaking song about a friend who has passed, but made even more heartbreaking by the thought that Evan is essentially describing a friendship he never had, and perhaps never could have.

It's sounds like this that make me wish that I could sing. When I try, the geese gather around me as though I had been calling to them. All I've got for making music is my saxophone. I have to let that sing for me.

@@nickhiggsthesinger Well,I may have been exaggerating about the geese ...a little. As for the sax skills, thank you! I started on tenor long ago but, I did not own that one. Now I'm exclusively a soprano sax player. I have a curved one and a straight one. The curved one seems to have a mind of its own compared to the straight one. It takes a lot more finesse to get it to behave properly. I am having loads of fun with both of them, though and constantly learning new things with them.
Pretty sure Robert Markus is the B flat, hes also in the canadain version of REnt as Roger

Oohhh I love this! Glad you reacted to this and on point comments! This was so wholesome and I love love the arrangement!! And yes, I watched No Hard Feelings and was s surprised o see Andrew there because I had no idea!! And I fell in love with him there and with his ability to level with Jennifer Lawrence!

I’m really lucky, in my city in the UK a LOT of west end musicals travel down because the facilities are so good. Next year I’m seeing the Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hanson and Hamilton. Last year I saw Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and his amazing Technicolor dreamcoat. All for around £50 ☺️
