  • Former NCAA Division II National Coordinator, Scott Taylor, while mic'd up at a 2017 Florida clinic, delivers a message regarding the intangibles and etiquette of umpiring - something as simple as saying "please" and "thank you" -, specifically how extremely important they are.
This is a great example of an in-game situation, providing an impactful message.

Well if it isn’t a young Eric Byrum. What a journey for him, from this teachable moment, to working the D3 National Championship. He is a great umpire, mentor and friend.

Why can't the instructor explain how to ask for the balls without being a "dick"?

That was partly my thought. He wants the ump to say please but then says "come back here". Where's the please on his end. How about modeling.

He is above reproach haha. Take my advice since I’m not using it. But he is correct
