  • Bedford Hills Fire Department Tower Ladder 57 (F.A.S.T.), Car 2032, and Utility 6 (F.A.S.T.) responding automatic mutual aid to the Yorktown Heights Fire Department for reported black smoke from the structure on Crompond Road in Yorktown Heights, New York. Car 2033 from the Bedford Hills Fire Department along with Car 2532, Car 2533, Engine 271, Engine 272, and Ladder 51 from the Yorktown Heights Fire Department also responded to this call, but are not seen in this video. After searching, units located the incident which turned out to be an oil burner malfunction causing heavy smoke from the chimney and the Bedford Hills F.A.S.T. was returned.
    The units seen responding are:
    Tower Ladder 57 - 2000 Seagrave/Aerialscope (95FT MM)
    Car 2032 - 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe
    Utility 6 - 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD/Burquip/Chivvis
    This video was taken on January 29th, 2016.

      I think he was just waiting to make sure the tower got out. Also, it wasn't that important for him to respond because the Yorktown chief(s) had command because it was their call. GB is doing good, we ordered our new rescue-pumper finally (facebook.com/hendricksonfire/photos/pb.118867644807983.-2207520000.1454281120./1170013256360078/?type=3&theater) and the firehouse may be getting closer to starting construction.

    • @aksnowman4455
      @aksnowman4455 Před 6 lety +2

      Pill Cosby pagers don't always work, and they can die if you don't charge them, or you forget your pager or lose it? The siren is another source of alerting volunteer firefighters that there is a call.

    • @LowHudEmergency
      @LowHudEmergency  Před 8 lety +1

      +ismaeel mansoor Like ArmonkFD1111 said, that siren was used before modern radio technology to alert volunteers to a call, and is now used as a back up for the pagers. They are extremely common among volunteer fire departments in the eastern portion of the US.

    • @LowHudEmergency
      @LowHudEmergency  Před 7 lety +2

      Firefighter Assist & Search Team. Some areas refer to them as a R.I.T. or Rapid Intervention Team. They are essentially a group of firefighters who are there just in case a firefighter goes down inside a fire; it is their job to go rescue the downed firefighter.

      @LowHudEmergency  Před 8 lety +1

      +Kevin Martin Like Armonk FD1111 stated, F.A.S.T. stands for Firefighter Assist and Search Team. Different areas refer to this as a R.I.T. or Rapid Intervention Team, if you've ever heard that term used. Their only job is to set up escape routes for firefighters on all sides of the building and in the unfortunate event a firefighter goes down inside the building, they go in to rescue them.

      Firefighter Assist & Search Team. Other areas may call it R.I.T. or Rapid Intervention Team, but its the same thing. Its a team of firefighters that standby at every fire or sometimes other potentially dangerous incidents that is specifically there in the event that a firefighter needs assistance inside the building (i.e. they suffer a medical emergency, become trapped, run out of air, etc.).
