Na don't worry guys, I'd say it's just a temporary break-up for the sake of drama because: - Apparently JR's actress is coming back for the finale or the last episodes - Last episode Petra said "I'm sorry you're at rock bottom, I wish I could help you" and JR answered "You are. Trust me". It's not consistent to make them break up permanently right after that just because JR needs to "start over completely", let alone when JR has gone to great lengths for Petra (sacrificing her career) and they're already serious enough for Petra to be about to propose. - The show has been recently making a point about how Petra broke JR's heart (with her friend bringing it up) and, as the show parodies/plays with telenovela tropes and Petra was going to propose, I guess now it's JR's "turn" to break Petra's and later make up for it with an equally romantic gesture. - It's the last season, it's not likely that they'll just leave Petra, a character with such an amazing evolution, without her happy ending. Basically the writers are just setting JR's character up for a comeback that nicely wraps up the storyline.

However, Jane Villanueva is also going through the same thing as Petra right now so I do see SOME fairness there. Petra and JR DO get a happy ending, but we’ll have to wait for episode 16 or 17 (can’t recall).
So send JR to Houston and have the long distance thing wear on their relationship. Have the girls miss her, etc. Have Petra consider for a hot second that she'll make a major life change and move to Houston. Have Rafael not like that, etc. There are ways to have conflict and plot without making this pairing seem like a couple of those crazy lesbians (generic usage) who got together too quickly and now can't stay committed for more than a week at a time. As I said in another post: JR has been trying to bond with the girls, spending extra time with them. I realize this is fiction, but if it weren't there's no way Petra should take someone back who would drop her and them like this.
