One of my favorite airplanes from the golden era. It’s on the list if I ever win the lottery.
I would go for the Sr-22 first
@@Warbirds 😂 I would never own a Cirrus 🤢🤮
I haven't seen one of these sense I was a little boy. They used to patrol the east coast for Soviet subs from Lake Hurst along with the Blimps.
Here I am at 62 an avid aircraft watcher and pilot (ex), seen hundreds of PBY's over the years and only just noticed that they don't have trailing edge flaps, well there's my learny thing for the day, result. A truely amazing aircraft, thank you.
Cool having you here on my channel
@@Warbirds :)
Ypu can't have seen hundreds. There is only 1 flying in Europe and 3 left flying in the whole world.
@@JimNaylor, never seen one actually fly but in hundreds of images, clips, movies, photographs, paintings and a couple of actual aircraft, there is an actual aircraft on static display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia, there was also one on static display at Bankstown Airport in NSW near where I grew up.
It wasn't until I was watching the one in the clip landing that I noticed that the flaps weren't deployed and on careful inspection of the footage of the aircraft up close I noticed no gaps for where they should have been, I then confirmed that they did not have flaps or any other lift devices on the wings by a bit of internet research.
Truth! With that giant parasol of a wing, there was no need for flaps. Here's another little fun fact about the Cat: It had no water rudder. On the water turning was by differential thrust.
Fabulous airplane

I have always wanted a house boat, but imagine having a house boat that flies!
You would be very free if you could afford the fuel
@@Warbirds No kidding! That would be the only problem. You would save a lot on airport costs! Never have to pay any landing fees, LOL!
Thank you for the great videos!
@@lhkraut Enjoyed
Now ain't that just a beautiful sight!!
Oh yes. Thanks for watching
Awesome airplane
Thanks liking
Beeindruckend und wunderschön 😎👍 ... ich würde so gerne mal eine Wasserlandung einer Catalina sehen.
Interesting.
That was excellent showing me how those pby’s fly over the ocean and on land did built one model rexell I called it the elephant
Excellent.
Thank you !
The Catalina presented during the 1990's in Duxford was one of my favorites amongst the planes then. Later I learned that it crashed into the Sea.
This one ?
Очень красивый гармоничный самолёт.
Спасибо
My late Grandfather flew in these in WWII.
What did he do in it ?
@@Warbirds Radar operator. Operated mostly around Burma/Indian ocean from what I recall.
@@g.donuts3551 ok thanks
OA-10A 44-34056 2nd ERS “I’ll Be Seeing You”. Have an old restored(as much as possible) pic of him and flight crew in front of this aircraft. Perhaps a training aircraft? As being in Burma/India would have been under 7 ERS to my understanding.
@@g.donuts3551 cool i love history
