I am obsessed with the slight lyrical changes that show how far she’s come since previous time singing this. ‘a mansion on the hill’ to ‘mansion in Bev hills’ ‘Penthouse on the coast’ to ‘empire on the coast’ Insane how she’s stayed at the top of her game for so long
@Darren McGowand Yes, as long as you cut down the fingernails of your other hand (your fretboard hand) so you can chord and play leads accurately. I haven't played guitar for several years (broke my wrists), but when I was playing, I had long fingernails on my right hand and pared-down-to-the-nub fingernails on my left. It was pretty common for people to actually notice this and ask if I was a guitar player.
Love her but I have to say I'm way more partial to the picking instead of the strumming. How she flatpicked with those nails was absolutely amazing! Loved the way the crowd went nuts in the older one
you mean the one where she was trying to deliver her punch line (something like "i hope so, i paid enough for 'em.") and he interrupted her? his usual great timing wasn't too great at that moment. she did end up delivering the line, but it lost some of its impact.

This was the second time she played this on the show, she did it before and this time is just as special.
How can ANY red blooded American male not be completely in love with Miss Dolly Parton?
I love that both times she played it for johnny she had to think about the words a couple times, its so awesome, she's so real
Dolly UNPLUGGED is the best thing ever
That's talent folks.
What an absolute superstar. A true one off!!
Dolly is an American treasure!
I’m living in the wrong time
Dolly is a bad ass No dowt about it. salute to ya Dolly
No idea how she can make those chords with those nails -- but God bless her, she does it!
open tuning, so she’s barring

Sound quality is a bit off but maybe it's available elsewhere on YT.
that waist
DID SHE DO THAT ON THE SPOT OR
no....she wrote it she just said so
Actually she sang that years ago on his show
Я НЕ МОГУ ПОНЯТЬ. ОНА ВСЕ АККОРДЫ ОДНИМ ПАЛЬЦЕМ СЫГРАЛА ???
Those nails though. If she can play the guitar with those bad boys on, anyone can learn the guitar.
I think this is the episode where Johnny asked if they were real and she said yes. He then said “I’d give a year’s salary to peek under there”

@@nowvoyagerNE Yeah, they are impressive enough to throw one’s timing off!
@@boataxe4605 : hahaha!
Yep Carson was a bit of a chauvinist around women.
