@ashm7922 Joan Rivers was 81 when she died. However, the shocking part of her death had little to do with her age. She died while having a common medical procedure, one I've had performed a couple of times. That's what was shocking, because she was otherwise in good health and could have lived another 10 or more years. Many people like Betty White live much longer. Normal Lear was 101 when he died. Henry Kissinger was also over 100. Kirk Douglas was 103 when he passed. Many of my neighbors who walk their dogs twice a day are over 80.

When a comic is sitting with the host they are not saying funny lines off the cuff. Before the show the host visits the comedian and is told what jokes ir stories the comic will be using.
Then the host PLANS how he will steer his chat to give the proper SET UPS to the guest.
So, she never ADJUSTED to the host's questions as it was already planned.
When Carson was hosting the ONLY comics that were funny without set ups were the over the top, unbridled Robin Williams and his idol JONATHAN WINTERS.

I saw her in a 2005 interview on a British talk show, which unlike Carson's was not scripted or rehearsed (or prepared for on Joan's part), and she and the host were in a quick-fire joke exchange and Rivers spurned him so badly that at the end of the segment, as she walked off stage, she grasps his arms as if he was going to fall over and asked, "are you alright?" Joan River's talent was on a level of a genius. She had the ability to juxtapose the most unexpected thoughts, ironies, puns and analogies. What a tragedy in the suspicious circumstances of her death. There are some famous people that leave a measure of emptiness in society when they die. Think of all the humor and joy lost.

I lost family members in the Holocaust. Rivers once said model Heidi Klum was "hotter than the Germans who put Jews in the ovens". Totally disgusting. Rivers never apologized for what she said and also said she was allowed to say it because she was Jewish and also had relatives who died during the war. There was absolutely NO excuse for what she said-her humor was based on the humiliation of others--not much of a legacy to me

Da' Coach yes I watched his first time on the to night show when it came on it got better the next year and for years to come. Then they cut the time down to an hour it ruined it it was always rushed then. Then he stop appearing on the show 2or 3 days aweek that hurt it in the later years I think after 25 years he just got tired of doing it he hung out for the last 5 years then ended it. It was a shock to tv we lost a great night show. But no body can do what Johnny did. Johnny just had it it started in TV in the early fifties on game shows and had his own show too he had like 3 shows of his own one was called do you trust your wife that was a game show. Then the Johnny Carson show and the other came show I can't remember the name of it. I miss Johnny for all the laughs he gave me. I loved his mongalog most and the Carson's player. I liked some of the guest he had on some was better then others and then when some actor would just walk on the show to say Hi to Johnny when they were filming next door. They would surprise him. Take up about 5 mins of the shows time but it would all be for laughs. The good old days of TV with clean comidy and no cussing or homosexuals in my face. It use to be hidden and still should be because it is wrong and these people will go to hell if they don't change their life style. God didn't make them that way they chose it. God don't make mistakes men and women. We need to stop saying wrong is right and right is wrong because of our country don't stop it God is going to take our country from us and give it to another country for years just like he did ISREAL. Miss Johnny and Joan. 2 greats yes Joan could be what people called hateful but what she said was true about the people so the truth hurts. She could have mad up stuff about them. I guess that would have been ok. Because nobody wants the truth now days at all just lies they believe. Because they don't know the truth. Johnny had his dogs on people to. Johnny was a mean drunk too. But it was all hush hush on him. Johnny had an ago that wouldnt quit and so did Joan yes she worked hard all her live she never got remarried after her husband killed his self left her and their daughter broke. And in debt. Joan just worked harder to keep things up. She did anything she could to earn money for her and her daughter she paid off all the debts he left her. I liked it Joan and her grandson would go somewhere for a week or two just them and do what he wanted she was a great grand mother she spoiled him and sent him home. Lisa would get so upset at her mom for doing that buying him everything. Sometimes she had to take stuff back. When he was younger. RIP Johnny and Joan. I miss you one day maybe we will see each other again in front of that Great White Throne of Judgement. In front of our Savior Jesus Christ.

This is just pure joy watching two close friends, (both very talented at their craft), banter back and forth. Rivers was absolutely one of a kind, very funny woman. Extremely sharp and quick witted. And the infallible JC doesn’t miss a beat. “So true...So true...”
It is however, a sad to note how their relationship ended, all because JR accepted the offer to do her own show. Carson was so mad at her that he never spoke to her again. Refused to take her calls in her efforts to apologize over the years. But he took his grudge to his grave. And according to Rivers, this hurt her more than anyone ever had or would in her life. Up until her Husbands suicide.
But me personally, as much as I Loved J Carson, I think it was wrong to hang on to that grudge until his death. She didn’t do anything HE HIMSELF wouldn’t have done, given the opportunity. He was an up coming Comedian once too. To freeze her out was just childish. “So True....So True”..
    RIP Johnny and Joan.
