By promoting the camp-tent stove design, that Norwegian engineering feat of superb design, my God, you've shown so many strangers and people around the world the benefits of owning a stove like this one. I'm likewise impressed by how compact and well-designed yet efficient, it is. Very slick.

    The stove brings back memories from my conscript days in Finland. It wasn't only once I heard some team burn their tent by an accident during a combat exercise. During winter though the stove was absolutely a lifesaver, if we managed to get it lit.

    I spent 2 nights in the forest recently near the small river. Sky was full of stars,we looked at starfall , had some wine near the fire. We built small camp and had a best weekend. Who needs the phone when you have forests,mountains, tents, fire, rivers,lakes, friends, stars, sunsets... this is what we all remember when we get old.

    Finally, someone on CZcams who is actually using the lavvu the right way out! The arm flaps on the outside to keep the rain out, and the extra bit of material at the top of the cape on the inside, so the side of the tent exposed to rain has as few seams as possible. It should also be worn that way round. That extra bit of material that lies around your shoulders stops the outer canvas from wearing out and acts as extra warmth and a waterproof layer. Well done 👍 that man!!!

    Couple tips for you. When the pipe passes up through the lavu, move the pipe to the higher section of the opening. 2 reasons for this. ( It also provides more space between the stove and the wall of the Lavu ) One is the more pipe that is inside the tent will also provide heat for the inside. Second is, if it starts to rain, any water that comes in through the opening will land behind the stove instead of on the stove. I would also suggest getting a heat shield behind the stove between it and the lavu wall.
    Over all great video, watching from across the pond here in Nova Scotia Canada. Cheers

    • @rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594
      @rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594 Před 2 lety

      Your tent saver is going to act like a power vent, exhausting your interior heated air to the outside; through the space between it and your flue pipe.
      Then you need a heat shield between the stove and the wall of the tent.

    THAT IS A STOVE! Walk-in campers (short hikers) will LOVE this: no fiddly, almost aluminum foil chimney pieces; sturdy side shelves for warming dishes and staging meals. Super-light is 'better than nothing' but a real stove provides superior comfort and performance. I am adding this stove to my favorites. I went straight to the maker's site and learned it has a matching oven option! I am guessing this will be a candidate for heating the Pallet Palace.
    Your philosophy is not a rant: it is 'spot on.' My lifetime relationship with my six-years younger brother was born when I took him camping. He was a youth and I was a teen...and another brother treated him like an unwelcome 'tag-along.' We had many fine camps later in life when he joined my family on state park/national forest trips. Happy Holidays to you and my 'favorite do-it-yourselfer!'

If I can't be outside I can watch you and a few others being out side I seen the ones with you and Paul that was great but the ones that really got my attention was you at the British cost line the view was awesome. I did watch the whole video. I have been watching a few more very informative . Thanks

    i don't comment on any social media or so but now i will. I loved especially the part when you were talking to young people to put down their devices and go outside to spend and enjoy time with friends and build real memories. In this time its so true as I see lot of young people/kids sitting with devices and do not care about friends, surroundings and when you take them out they are i would say angry as junkies who did not recieved their dose of drug. Thank you for another nice video and please continue doing good job :)

    For wood stoves like that, I find that a dry fuel tablet makes an admirable starter. Simply put the tablet under the loaded rack and light it up. The tablet will burn for a good 10-20 minutes, which should be plenty long enough for the main pile to catch.

  • @professionaltobogganist8448

    Great video, that stove is super nice, I'd carry it in. Think i'll line up the pallet wood cabin build i saw in your other vids to watch. keep up the great work.

    When I have the opportunity to cut a disk for kitchen prep, I like to cut a disk for under the laavu pole, do keep it from subsiding into the wet ground. That's a great stove, a chunk of welding blanket works a treat to wrap the stovepipe that goes through the arm hole.
