Today we're taking a look at a game that just recently popped up on my radar called THE CORRIDOR, it seems pretty straightforward, there is a corridor, and at the end of it... there is a button. Push the button and repeat. Seems pretty simple right? Well, there's ALWAYS more than meets the eye, so settle in friends, and whatever you do DON'T push that button!

I love how at the start Ash was talking about how she wasn't happy with her original project as a creator and the whole game's premise was the creator being uncertain if they would be happy with their own project, a perfect unintentional parallel.

I would love to see Mat work his way through Slay the Princess. There's some horror, some meta, some unreliable narrator, and a story that keeps you guessing.

I would like to recommend playing a nancy drew game. Especialy now that they are making a small arg for their next game. They are detective point and click games. I would specifically recommend the ghost of Thornton hall. It's an amazing game, and I would love to see your reaction to it.😊

For some reason as soon as Mat mentioned lets plays of old atari games the first thing I though of was a lets play series where someone plays every game ever released in release order. Would be literally impossible but also very cool.

What was the secret ending?
This reminds me alot of Davey Wreden's The Beginner's Guide. Sometimes the relationship between player and game, or even player and dev, is exactly like this. As a player, we consume and devour the content of the game and demand more when there's nothing more the game can offer, and the devs might try to satiate that never ending hunger with more, even at the determent of the game itself, or tell the players it's time to move on. Sometimes, the game isn't for the player, it's for the dev. Maybe it's a pet project that's meant to be a learning experience, or as a way to judge if their "worthy" or not to be a dev.

I'm gonna be real here, I haven't watched the video, but I _have_ played The Corridor. It seriously reminds me of The Stanley Parable, and I'm surprised not many others have mentioned it!

Honestly to me this is a very effective meditation on the creative process. Wanting people to like your art but not being able to share. Rick Rubin talks about this in “The Creative Act” creating something brings something into reality and limits it’s possibilities. He mentions though “the impossible aspects stay in your mind despite the reality on your canvas, but that doesn’t mean those potentials are dead; you can repurpose them

You should play the game Killer Frequency. You play as a radio host and have to help people calling in to escape a killer on the loose. It's kinda similar to Do you copy?, but a bit longer and more exploration. It's very fun!

If any writer seeing this video has writers block, Matpat and Ash gave you all some great book titles and ideas work on.

He missed the LOOOOREEE! If you press all the buttons the dev just chats to you the player about the game. I think next to the door is another corner you can go into like somewhere between 2nd and 4th.

Idk if the themes of this game would be too dark for the channel, but I'd love to watch a playthrough of When The Darkness Comes. Not enough people give it recognition and I really enjoyed it and related to parts of it

there was no door in the game originally, but he added it and more stuff to make the game better, always thinking it needs more.

Hey matpat, this whole thing drops pretty close to when i decided to make my first game with a friend. i like the advice you gave, and heck, maybe ill see my game on gtlive when its out. i decided to focus on making it fun, because succeed or fail, ill learn something, and im working on achieving my dream of being a game designer.

@@kadegetslaid634 sofar we have a 0.0.1 which means we have an executable. Im avoiding details specifically to protect my idea for now, but i will be sure to update as i go. Might be awhile tho, its just us 2 guys doing the whole project and we have jobs and stuff outside of development alongside seemingly a billion time demands. But we're chippin away bit by bit!

I feel that level, putting yourself out there. I am in the process of trying to be creative, I didn't have much time to do it, I just going with the goal to just get my thoughts and ideas on "paper" on whatever/wherever I can. I will show people and see what we think later, but for now I just want it out, as I've been "waiting" for "true" inspiration to hit. It didn't happen so now I will just try everyday, it will get a little easier. But I've gotta do it everyday. That's the hard part.

The cardboard man reminds me of a little bit older game that I CANNOT remember, all I remember is that it was pretty funny and I think you play as an spy/agent in a world of robots who all talk like cardboard man.

As a kid raised on road trips (and an Ohioan) the first few minutes of this were so wholesome.
I can say that West Virginia is absolutely beautiful to drive through.

AWE, MATPAT, YOU NEED TO SEE WV IN DA DAYLIGHT! I grew up right on the Ohio border of West Virginia and since I left after highschool, driving back home through the mountains is so refreshing and humbling after being away so long. You should really stop and visit some of the tourist spots like Hawk's Nest, Blackwater Falls, Summersville Lake and it's New River Gorge mountain trail. So beautiful and so worth it.
