If you guys remember Superliminal, a game we played on the channel previously, it's very reminiscent of that. I love how Matpat 100% knew that there was going to be a jumpscare in the intro clip and still got scared by it. 🤣
Well, that's something that makes a jumpscare scary, knowing that it's going to come, but sometimes not knowing when! It can really increase anxiety and make it pretty scary sometimes, take FNAF for example, let's say FNAF 2, you know that you are about to get killed by withered bonnie, but it's still scary!
If you like puzzles like this, you should play "Viewfinder". It's the same style where you place pictures too but, minus the horror. It's a sci-fi theme and got an amazing graphics!
i think that this copied viewfinder, because the mechanics are almost exactly the same and even the camera animation, but one has a clear, concrete story while this one has no voice acting and limited colors
Edit: i just found out that this took inspiration from viewfinder so..
@@boazray608yeah it says on the download page this was just an experiment to try and replicate the mechanics and was heavily inspired as you found out, i dont think it was malicious as this game is free and blatantly states it was based off viewfinder even though mat didnt know while playing

I'm honestly really sad that it's the mascot games that do so well. A while back you started to play Rusty Lake and I am still hoping you'll pick it up again. The overarching storyline between the games is really great.

I am sad that this channel hasn't done more with the Cube Escape/Rusty Lake series. I started tuning in because of it and it seemed like yall were gonna do more. I've enjoyed everything thats been behind these videos (great personalities, good communication, a regular change of pace). But it sounded like you were gonna play more Rusty Lake stuff and I just haven't seen it. Please keep up the good work.

You should play Viewfinder, which I believe this game was based on. It has some super cool puzzles and mechanics.

Viewfinder is the original source. KenForest even mentioned it in the note for anyone to read it and check it out. But, it felt like some people didn't all read it. It kinda concerns me that an original source didn't seem to get as much attention as a game with copied and experimented mechanics.

Though I believe Ash was in another video, now that she was in a video for longer I have a very different version of her in my head. She used to look like a shadow in my mind- powerful and intelligent. Now she's still powerful and intelligent but an actual human!
YES ASH!!! Lion King 1 1/2 with its Who Wants to Be A Millionaire mini game was so great! And the "Disney Ride" Timon and Pumbaa took Timon's mom and uncle on was fantastic too. This was amazing, dizzying, and horrifying. I will never look at mirrors or picture frames the same again.

Since you liked this game, you should definitely play Viewfinder, it has the same concept, but is a more "finished" game, with some lore to it as well
I also would like to see Matt play Chants of Sennaar, I think it fits perfectly with his style

You should play the game Killer Frequency. You play as a radio host and have to help people calling in to escape a killer on the loose. It's kinda similar to Do you copy?, but a bit longer and more exploration. It's very fun!
Matpat has GOT to play viewfinder, the game that inspired this one.
Viewfinder is more thought out and is generally more well-polished (not to undermine the effort that has went into Liminal Gallery, as this is also a great game but was the developer's way of testing themselves to see if they could recreate that photo recreation feature of Viewfinder)

Oh my goodness, I literally squealed when MatPat mentioned Taskmaster and that he's a big fan! I would love to see Matt do the tasks. For some reason I get Ed Gamble vibes, but I don't know, MatPats brain versus Alex's would be awesome!
Watching these videos feels quite a bit different now that I know the face to associate with Ash's voice. No she isn't just MatPat's amazing ventriloquist abilities.

In regards to the interwctive DVD menus, the one the stands out the most to me was the first Harry Potter movie on DVD; its the only one i can remember having different clues and easter eggs based on what you click and where, taking you to secret features and extra screens.
The real horror here is that Matpat didn't resolve the melody of, "SOMEBODYS WATCHINNN MEEEEE"
I have watched 3 different people play this and I love the creativity each one showed to solve these puzzles as most of the time there were 3 unique solutions.
Those interactive special DVD-exclusive contents are gold! That Shrek one is so cool! Theyre rough aeound the edges, but hey
But if they started doing that again in this modern era, I doubt it would have the same reception(given the fact it was only so-so even at the time)
I want to see Matt tap into the “non-Euclidean” genre. There’s a few gems out there like fragments of Euclid. Great puzzle game

I wonder if you can take pictures of the film canisters to make infinite film.
Seems like it should work, so long as the original isn't overwritten, it can be photo graphed and a room could be infinitely expanded to keep taking pictures of film, posting pictures of film in newly created space from earlier photos.
I adore whichever editor or whoever loves orange tictacs enough to put it in the section title and risk their job.
Oh my goodness, MatPat completely failing to understand the room at around 23 minutes was infuriating. If you're looking up and the room is upside down, then it becomes right-side up when pointed downwards! And again at 26 minutes, all he had to do was rotate and position, not try creating a bridge, instantly knew what was going on there. 4 minutes to figure out a 20 second puzzle.
I don't get how someone who's so capable of looking for hidden details struggles with this stuff. DX

It’s so hard watching someone do a puzzle game and doing it “right” but also making it way harder than it needs to be. Matt you were looking so hard for these crazy ways to solve some puzzles that you missed such simple solutions. You’re looking to hard.
Theres a game called Viewfinder thats very similar to this one... I think you guys would like it
It feels like you have to play viewfinder, awesome game using similar "liminality" ideas. And there you can reset just one action and not a full level so it is less tedious

I would like to recommend playing a nancy drew game. Especialy now that they are making a small arg for their next game. They are detective point and click games. I would specifically recommend the ghost of Thornton hall. It's an amazing game, and I would love to see your reaction to it.😊
You guys should do a food theory about the best flavour of gum/tic tac! Like which makes ur breath smell the best, what is generally the most liked, how much sugar/artificial flavour it has and the best texture! Also settle the orange tic-tac thing (Ash’s gf was so right for that, orange tic-face are amazing 😭😭 stop the slander)

Y'all should watch the "The Oldest View" series by kane pixels. It's unrelated to the backrooms, but another great piece of horror media involving liminal spaces. (Once again, not related to the backrooms)

Orange tic-tacs are the only one I buy. I’ll eat the other flavors if someone gives me them but the orange ones are the ones I like and buy.
This reminds me of a spookier view finder which is another great perspective based game

MattPat, If you are looking for a DVD/digital horror-like game you should play “Immortality”. It is mature and not really stream friendly, but it is so up your alley.

Mat you should play Time is Solid Here!! Its an amazing game, a bit liminal, has elements of horror, and in my opinion its quite unique! If you do get around to playing it I hope you enjoy it, its one of my all time favorites !

Suggestion: The Pathless by Giant Squid. It's an awesome game that actually faintly resembles Shadow of the Colossus (at least for me), and I think it would be a really cool game for you to try to find lore in. It's not a horror game (unless you're afraid of conflict like me-) but there is definitely a final boss and it's definitely got quite a bit of lore. It's also not too terribly long, which is great. ^^ At the very least, if you decide not to play it, can you please send it to Markiplier and/or Jacksepticeye (preferably Jack)? I think they would really like it. (Ps: I hope you like how I started this comment - I wanted it to be eye catching and a bit funny because it's a bit of a strange choice of emojis. Also hope you're doing well - i'll stop talking now- 😅)

Honestly I'm not usually annoyed by how MatPat plays the game i honestly like how he explores the game and not just do a speed run but he also has a habit of making the game more complicated than it is. It frustrated me how the answer to the puzzles were so simple and he makes it so much harder for himself by overthinking things sometimes less is more
The fact that Matpat tried everything in the room with the steps, except continuing the steps. dwl.
