In my humble opinion this is the most well written Metallica song. Everyone plays to suit the song so well its crazy. It all fits together amazingly and you can tell kirk, James and Jason really worked together to make each other's parts even better.
“welcome home” from the master of puppets album is the best written song in my opinion. each member shines and the lyrics are incredible
@@clinical_caliber these lyrics are more subtle and based in metaphors. The lyrics to welcome home are sort of immature. Welcome home is so easy to play I'm sure James wrote it in his sleep. This song every note is so well thought out. Once again my opinion only

When I was 10, and i stole this tape from K-Mart.. I became so attached to this song.. Everyone wanted to hear sandman and the rest.. but this one stuck with me to this day.. it's pure gold.. prefect in every way..

There was plenty of room in Metallica all along to give Jason room to be creative. You can pick out songs on every album that werent as strong with just James and Lars' name on them. This song is an instant classic. Everything that Jason had credit on in Metallica was solid AF
Maybe… but James needs to be able to create a singable melody to the music. James vocals are what make Metallica the greatest thrash metal band ever in my opinion .

Personally I feel that this song is the most underrated on this album.
James sings with a lot of pain, and who definitely gets the credit for this song is Jason, his bass sounds brutal. We listen to Lars and Kirk at their usual high level,

It won’t, it was Jason’s. Unless they have him guest contribute or something. It was meant to be an instrumental in the first place. IMO, Rob is a great bassist, but he’s not “Metallica”, they lost part of their identity when Jason left and was/were never the same.
