This is a memory for me that I’ll never forget. My dad showed me this “dvd” and this song, with me as a kid, absolutely blew me away. Still by far my favorite song by them.

It took me 20 years to get my dad into Metallica. He’s a big 80s Euro- electronic rock guy. While I do enjoy bands like Depeche Mode and the like Metallica is always number one for me. This song finally pushed him into being a fan and I’m glad we get to share this.

Similar, my old man digs adult-contemporary and some grunge, but when he heard me replaying this band over and over again as a kid, he looked em up and even found some tracks he likes. Helluva solid bond between us these days.
The older I get, the more this song evokes an emotional response from me whenever I hear it for the first time in a while. Everytime could be the last time I hear it. Metallica is a childhood friend and this is a hearty handshake from them.

Back in 1999 ( I was 15 years old) when i heard to this song for the first time I was in a personal fight with myself, the lyrics inspire me to make some changes in my life for good, almost 22 years later my life is challenge me back again due to the economic complications provoked by COVID-19, and surprisingly this song appears in a local music TV show just when I needed the most.

But at the time , people have to understand it was such a big style change from what they had done with Justice , and TBA . The song writing went from stuff like Harvester of Sorrow , to Aint My Bitch . And the riffs had much more funky feel to them . And stuff like Hero of the Day , almost felt like a different band , to what they were previously . But looking back they had some great songs like Bleeding me , and The Memory remains . Different style but still good stuff .

I played Viola and had this on dvd and daydreamed about getting to play with Metallica. Good song and definitely feel nostalgic listening to this.
I know this isn't Metallica's favorite by most people, but it's definitely my favorite. Me and all my siblings share Metallica in common we all grew up on this great band. Our mom got us loving them and she passed away in 97. But she definitely kept us all playing these albums throughout our whole lives

1. This song was written for a symphony accompaniment. 2. It's good to see Jason. I always felt he was the dude that lucked into the gig of a lifetime and enjoyed every minute of it, and gave every fiber of his being because of it. He was every Metallica fan, but he was on stage playing with them too.

metallica was and is the last metal band to become a household name. Almost everyone knows Metallica. Even when they don't "know" Metallica, they've probably heard Enter Sandman at some point in their lives. Can't say that about any other metal within the past 30+ years.
james re did some of the vocals in studio afterwards because this was the single for the album and he wanted it to be perfect

I feel sorry for all the young Metallica fans that never got to see Jason live. The man was unbelievable.
Jame's voice sounds so INCREDIBLY dead in tune throughout this show... almost an auto-tune quality to it. I wonder if he had a special vocal training for this show or if the reference of the orchestra helped him to be more spot on, but man this vocal performance is the best of his carreer.
Apparently they did do work on his voice post show (maybe autotune?) for THIS specific song. I guess it mattered because it's technically the "studio" version. But they left the live audio for the rest of the show.

As far as I know he overdubbed the vocals in studio later because as Sirzechs already said it's the official recording of that song. But James was vocally in an exceptional shape during the 90s anyways, Load and Reload are full of vocal gems.

This track just brought tears to my eyes, that beautiful mold between metal and classical is just overwhelming. It's done done so fucking well. I'm not the biggest Metallica fan but I recognise they are absolute legends and own all of their albums and can recognise their songs instantly. But this track knocked it out the park where musicial prowess came together with entirely different genres.

Ну, я сейчас посмотрел часть концерата 2х часового, напоминает Арию в 2000х (или Айрон-мейден, что одно и тоже), прости уважаемый, но среди их музыки(основного состава) я оркестр плохо слышал. Прям, как для фона как будто поставили оркестр. Но, это на вкус и цвет. Я эту группу (за их 20 лет существования) в первый раз слышу. И даже не видел нигде. Props to the symphony's musicians. They have to not only play orchestrated Metal music, but they have to drown out the crowd's reactions to the songs. S and M clearly shows the incredible musicianship of Metallica.
The crowd only clapped when songs were over or started. But I heard they were well behaved and only a select few got to see this. RIP Michael Kamen. You were a genius.

I saw Metallica for the 1st time in 1988 @ Foxboro Stadium MA @ The Monsters of Rock tour. I was 16 & in the pit SO close to the stage James Hetfeild thrashed & sweated on me!!!!! I'll NEVER forget it!! In the concurrent following 8 times I've seen them, I never had a more exciting moment!!! I am now 51 & still jammin' out to James & Co. They are undeniably blazing a trail through Rock n Roll legends & are a force to be reckoned with almost 40 decades in the making. KEEP THE FIRE 🔥ALIVE METALLICA!!!!

The teacher I had last year in 6th grade introduced me to the S&M album, and this is his favorite song on the album. On the weekend of my second week of 7th grade, Me, my dad, my friend, and his dad all went to see Metallica on August 4th. I just wish my teacher would've been there, but he couldn't go. Thanks Mr. Webb, for heavily impacting my musical interests, or else I might not have even known who Metallica was. Rock on Mr. Webb!😝🤘

did anyone else hear hetfield sing 'then it constipated' again and again? we had a drinking game when we were younger... every time james growls and says 'yeah', drink. trust me... you will wind up in the hospital. our drinking games were closer to genocide than anything... hmm. i guess im apologetic i put that thought in your heads. still did, tho. we were young and effing strong. went to a metal show not too long ago. some guy had a metallica tshirt that said 'it shouldve been lars'.. i cant entirely commiserate. i never met the guy. that said? i get it. it shouldve been lars.
