FYI while initially Wargaming confirmed to me that the Object 283 was a premium tank they have now corrected this and stated it will NOT be a premium tank i.e. making extra credits.
The NA website says 11% drop rate for both the rental and the permanent one.

Questions that come to mind:
• Why buy presents for the dog? Looks like a gold pit for no reward? Does the dog give more resources if you do?
• why did they split emerald and crystal? Seems like exactly the same purpose? I suppose amber is for Mila and iron for Arnie. Only reason for splitting is to f*ck players in the end who have 1000 each instead of 2000 and are not able to roll again in the gift terminal.
• What is the drop rate of Rent/permanent. Probably 10/1% like you say.
• Will my mouse survive all the pointless clicking? 😆

Last year was also crap because you needed to be USA president to have bonuses at 100%

Yes previous years were good. Except the extra amount of shards you needed year on year made last year's just too hard for me to complete all collections

Thanks QB. They have taken a simple process that we all understood and made it more complicated. Plus added in tanks with arguably stupid features like rocket tanks and huge burst mechanics just to be relevant?
I usually spend a bit at this time of year on the game, but now I’m not sure. It feels like they are moving further and further away from the core of WoT was back 5 or so years ago.
I just want a game that’s fun and balanced to play please Santa. Is that too much to ask? Perhaps it is.

No one should spend a dime on this game until WG takes steps to remedy the blatant cheating going , by these stat boost companies

For anyone who hasn't read all of the fine print in the posts on the portal, I suggest you go read it thoroughly for such gems as the following: "Once you have Chaffee in your Village, you can spend some gold and treat your new pet with various goodies, such as a new collar and even a kennel-very important things for any dog! After the end of the event, once the festive Holiday Ops Garage is disabled, your friend Chaffee will bid you farewell and leave with all his items, which will not be compensated." and "If you sell the Object 283, this vehicle will no longer drop-either for rent or permanently, but you can restore it using the in-game Recovery tool."

Some years ago WG started hiring more and more people who specifically had experience in the mobile games industry. It already didn't take a genius back then to understand that WG was aiming to increase profitability and players retention by implementing mobile games features into their games. With each new update we could witness these features being implemented here and there, sometimes in a subtle way, sometimes not so much. And here we are today with a disgustingly depraved in-your-face mobile game experience. Sickening what this game, that used to be amazing, has become. "Spit your money or gtfo, Regards". GW
As someone who played on and off since 2011, you are fucking right. This is fucking ridiculous. From a arcade tank simulator to clash of tanks. saddening.
Yet another idea for "bad luck prevention" with rentals would be multiplication. You get rental for 10 battles, if you get rental second time - you will get this rental multiplied by 10 to a 100 battles, if one more - you get 1000 battles.
Eventually at 10000 battles the difference between owning permanently and having a rental becomes rather miniscule.
Of course the multiplier could be adjusted but I picked 10 to illustrate the point well.
That's actually a very nice mechanism, and imagine reward system for f2p players to get a taste of premium tanks for rentals.
I don't think they'll go back to X number of battles rentals. I've an S1 with 80+ rental battles, I play it once in a while, but I don't ever feel the need to buy it.
Making an event convoluted to try to hide how grindy it is might as well be Wargaming's calling card at this point.
I don't think WG can buy Arnold, there's no ammount that would make him something he does not want to. At the very least, we know Arnold wanted to be here :)

i watched the whole video wg released and read the digest some guy on reddit made and man, i still don't understand it. it's so overwhelmingly full of whatever that it feels like a mobile f2p game that intentionally confuses you to pay. i just want a fancy garage, some missions and nice bonuses. why does it have to be several currencies, 20 menus, slot machines and stupid gatekeeps? i mean its nice to see them putting in effort but man this feels so bloated.
Console is trying to copy the pc version with the holiday event. Arty on console is old verson still one shot tanks.
Whew....... I have a headache, lol I am on the fence about the ops this year. This has been one of my favorite times to play this game, snow maidens, loot boxes, the festive atmosphere and it was simple and enjoyable. We shall se WOT, we shall see.

Hey QB just some feedback. Idk how long it takes to add on but some of the video segments that break the video down into what they cover would be great! Just so that its easier to navigate/get to what I want to learn about
This is honestly my favorite time of year for WOT. It gives a nice festive spin on the game and it gets me interested in playing more. The only down side is the amount of money I am going to waste lol

The object rental is a complete scam. Also, why do they insist on making all things more complicated/obtuse every year? Not only is it a waste of programming, but doesn't instill any goodwill to the people that play and pay for the game.
It makes us invest our time and emotions and creates mental stimulations. It is a psycho mechanism, well known in the industry. Giving us the exact event each year would create boredom, just like eating ur favorite meal 24/7.
@@juanzulu1318 Making things more complicated/obtuse keeping things exactly the same. They always change up the rewards, that, with some minor tweaking that wouldn't introduce complexity, would allow them to fix maps, mechanics, and other things that we have wanted for a decade now.

I like the old way better but still will get loot boxes and grind away on my Xmas vacation tks QB it was very nice of you to do all the work for us again and explain how to make it easier for us.
The auto collection is good for people who travel a lot for the holidays. I'm happy they added that as keeping up previous years between traveling for work and traveling for leisure to see family left little time between to do the holiday missions and left me scrambling after new years to complete the collections on time.

They certainly make it more like a cryptic crossword every year. Even reading it and listening to you I am sure that I have missed something. I am surprised the WG has not decided add the chance to win a Universal campaign order at the same chance as a tier 8 tank. They certainly know how to get you hooked.
Hi QB Holiday Opps used to be a bit of festive fun at the end of the year and if you had the cash great a quick progress. But 2023 just seems a whole lot more complicated and a lot less fun for most average people who have to work every day and not able to access their pc each day. So empty your credits or your bank the choice is yours. Have a great Christmas one and all.

Great breakdown! Thanks QB! Honestly, I'm not a fan of this year's Holiday Ops. I like the idea of the Gift Terminal, because like QB said, it helps out the free-to-play players. Other than that, it is just too complicated. My favorite years were 2019-2021. 2022 had some good features as well, such as the gift exchange five times a day with your friends. I LOVED THAT, but everything else of 2022 was so-so. I'm excited, but not nearly as excited as I was in previous years.

Appreciate the info ahead of time as it is not as straight forward as previous years, at least it sounds like a lot of more work. Sounds like a mobile game where you have to log on multiple times a day to farm the resources you need. I wonder how much time it has to be in between the times you log on to get all the resources. Hopefully it'll be something I can manage to do.
Got the 283 permanently, after 6 or 7 attempts. Not a premium, but nice to have another Tier 9 gift tank

Just a friendly correction, you only need to max out the assignments and atmosphere to buy more tokens, it doesn't say you need to do all of it to use the tokens you get by playing
I recently brought a friend into the game. He's already getting overwhelmed having to learn all the economics and mechanics of the game like xp, free xp, credits, gold, tech tree, tank types, camo, personal reserves, equipment, consumables, crew skills, bonds, modules, barracks, garage slots, directives, equipment demounting, missions/campaigns, events, clan mechanics, ammo types etc. etc. And that's before even getting to the actual gameplay. Now in typical fashion they take something that should be straightforward and fun into a damn complicated mess.

Wargaming gaming makes it so complicated, that most people give up and lose out on the things that will cost WOT money… Anyway, I’m gonna play the heck out of it! Happy holidays

I got the obj. 283 on the fifth roll. Wasn't even expecting it, just using my tokens after doing missions, thinking i'd get a repair kit, but no, a full blooded tank!
I'm at the 18 minute mark and so far, I'm feeling overwhelmed by everything about this! Sheesh!

Overall the event looks great this year, same issues as every year with the gambling etc, but there's more in game to do than ever before, more free stuff, and it doesn't necessarily seem like it will take too much more effort than before, as all the missions can be done simultaneously. I love the fact you have a chance to get the object 283 for free, but it would be good to just be guaranteed to get it for ever. Overall, I love the event again.
With regards to the slots, even last year they couldn't put new tanks in slots, as the new tanks came put after the hangover ended, but yes I do see them maybe wanting to release the Chinese heavies earlier.

QB not sure if you noticed, but the additional economic bonuses from arnie / milla (not the credits, the extras) are only good on tanks up to the same level as your Festive Atmosphere. Maybe you mentioned it in the video and I missed.
The rental is just there to cover up the exact % of getting the tank forever. They are working around the regulation where it's mandatory to disclose drop rates.

the assignments are shown to inc from 250, 300 and then 400 resources for the first three. so by the 10th i bet youre going to be looking at like 2000 or more
Have won rental 4 times, but haven't gotten the tank. I thought the drop rate was supposed to be 11% for either rental or getting the actual tank?
The 'rental' vs 'permanent' gamble is just stupid. Either give the damn tank or don't. What a slap in the face for someone who does all these missions, events, etc. only to get the new tank temporarily then be stuck w/ it in the garage as 'Rental Period Ended' until they decide to offer (or sell) it again.
Also, it just seems like they tried to add new features and challenges which would be kinda cool to change it up if it didn't seem so complicated and involved and more 'work' than 'fun'.

You get the tokens for materials which you can get for free in game and from doing the daily event missions for the celebritys, don't need to spend money but spending money would allow you to have more materials this craft more tokens

Yeah, agree, this is the most important event in my book too. Actually for a couple of years, when I wasn't really in the game anymore, this was the only thing that made me come back and play some more.
wg finds a way to screw up and fuck up any thing, they do try very hard - so let's reward them with our hard-earned euros and dollars, wg really deserve it!
I don't know when's the lunar new year this time, but they may choose to launch the new branch at that time. (often in February if I'm not mistaken)

Hey. Can I ask for some advice. I just won a obj 283 rental with a token. I've only been playing 2 months and have been only playing level 5 TD's. I have no crew trained also. I kind of feel sorry for the team if I played
So, will the tier 9 be the only premium tank or will there be other premium tanks to get in boxes?
you'll be able to get the BZ-176, M47 Patton Improved, AMBT, CC-64 Vipera and the Char Mle. 75 as well.

If object 268 is not 50/50 chance, it's illegal... Meaning actually against the gambling laws
@QuickyBaby Hmm In the village view highlighting the various locations on the left brings up a tooltip that says Improving the locations like the christmas tree improves the festival level???
I thinks it's going to boil down to what we get out of the boxes Wether this year will be better or worse, I know their are a few out there that are keeping track from year to year the amount credits, gold, etc. You get per so many boxes, and I'm curious to see if it holds true or if it'll end up being less, I know last year the cost of getting everything was kind of outrageous because of the amount of duplicates received, like I literally got the same t8 premium 4 or 5 times in a row, that's the kind of thing that I personally find frustrating
If it's an equal chance of rental/permanent, and if my math is correct -- and it usually is (thank you Tony) -- the odds of winning the Object 283 with 35 gift tokens is 86.2%. Personally I'd be a little annoyed if I did all that work and that 13.8% chance of failure came up.
Update six days later: The 283 ( _not_ the rental) dropped with the token I received from gaining Festive Level 7.

Does anyone know what triggers moving from level 8 to 9? The first 8 levels just require spending resources to decorate the trees and fair. I’ve finished 22 of the 28 Holiday Ops Challenge but wonder if I complete all 28 if I move up to level 9 or 10.

You can do everything by just spening money. Dont have to enter 1 battle if you just buy boxes and get enough resources from them to upgrade everything. I have a friend who has every premium vehicle you can get in the boxes and had holiday atmosphere at X by the same day it released

When I think about a "realistic tank" battle game, I think about mining in the mountains.... anyone else? It's getting complicated.

Has anyone been able to apply the Milla Perfect Style? I got it and can preview it but can’t find it in the depot to apply to a tank.
