Oh my god, a war between England and France, what a stupid hypothesis! Since the Entente Cordiale (first E.C at the Chateau d'Eu, Normandy 1843-1845, - and let's not forget that, on paper, the Queen is Duchess of Normandy, De Gaulle has always insisted on observing the rites of his rank during its official visits - then the Entente Cordiale was definitively reaffirmed in 1904). In short, since the fall of Napoleon, England and France have always fought side by side, already during the Crimean War. And the aid provided by England to the French Resistance was enormous, crucial. Let us not forget that Churchill had even proposed merging the two nationalities into one during the duration of the war. Far from opposing each other, the two armies are completely complementary in NATO plans and even in bilateral agreements. So, the Hundred Years' War ended quite a long time ago, I think^^. We were even together in Libya (a mistake in my opinion), not to mention the Suez attempt a few years ago. SAS and les nageurs de combat train together. The first naval infantry parachute regiment bears the same motto "Who dares wins", because the French unit was formed in Scotland barely 6 months after the creation of the SAS. Ask an SAS officer, they are the only ones they recognise as their equals. So please, stop talking about a war between England and France... It's stupid.

Luckily we had some skills and came back for them, bringing our US friends with us. The arrogance of a French person does make me wonder if we should have just extended West Germany a bit after the war. That’s why we’d win against the French…firstly because that’s what we do in wars, not surrender, and secondly because we are intelligent with how to use our resources whether or not they are more or less than the enemy. The funny part is that while the EU thinks they’re so powerful especially because of the Germans…who’s got you by the Balls? (like Donald Trump said btw) oh yeah, that’s right Russia can cut through the heart of the EU by turning off the Gas. So compare the entire EU military to Russia and yet you can’t do anything to them and you know it. As Churchill phrased it…I like Corkscrew thinkers, because Hitler thinks in a straight line. Also the Raphaellealasel aircraft or whatever it’s called doesn’t beat out a Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35’s or both combined. Bless the French eh…thinking they have some balls 😂

Over the last three decades since the end of the cold War, successive British governments had kept reducing the size of the UK military.
Obviously it saves money, but a big part of the equation was that as part of the EU, there was an integrated armed forces, with each country supplying a particular focus.
The British military have not upgraded their systems where it was expected that other EU member states would provide that capability.
So, the UK armed forces were lagging behind the ideal situation.
Since the UK left the EU, there has been a steady upgrading of the military, but it's not an instant process.
The goal of fighter aircraft (F35) is nearly 200, but this will take several years to achieve.
Similarly replacing the tank force with the new Challenger 3 tank will be a slow process, although light armour upgrades are progressing quickly
Every year, we have a significant upgrade in capability.
I'm actually amazed that the UK military compares so well on paper to the French. It's reassuring that as capabilities improve year on year, we will soon have some realistic armed formations.
By the way, don't underestimate the French special forces. Whilst they don't have a single unit like the British SAS, they do have several small sub-units that are embedded in the normal forces that are close to the standard of the SAS.

There has been conflict between the British and the French from the 10th/11th century until the early 1800's. During that time that conflict broke out into all-out war several times. The British often won the battles and at one point controlled more of France than the French King did, but due to either not enough manpower to hold the ground won or one or two of the later English kings not being of the right stuff we shall say. Also, the war of the roses one of Britain's many civil wars allowed the French the chance to regain lost territory. Having said that the British and French were mostly equal in quality of troops, but both suffered from week or bad leadership at one time or another.

The subs do have missiles but it's not a good idea to use them as they are nucelar.
They do have torpedo's but they are slow and you have to be kind of close.
The UK has no nucelar missiles silos in the UK they just put subs at locations all over the world so they could reach any enemy quicker.
The UK has one of the stictist civilian gubblaws in the world, you can get a shotgun certificate and that's not so hard to get but you need a safe bolted to your floor and it means you can own a shotgun without a rifled barrel or rifled choke most get double barrel shotguns but you can get a pump or semi but it can only hold 2 in the tube and you can't buy number 4 shot or bigger (you can't buy buckshot or slugs as in the ammo you would use to shoot humans but you could open the shell and put your own buckshot or slugs in)
With a firearms certificate it's even more fun you have to get a doctor's note, have a phyc evaluation, a meeting with the head of your local armed police.
You have to be part of a rifle club for at least a year then you have to have 2 thick safes and an expensive home alarm system.
When you get your FAC it's best to ask for 2 of every vcaliber you would ever want and they give you a limit of ammunition per caliber.
.22lr semi auto rifles are legal like a ruger 10/200
Apart from that caliber you can't have a semi auto rifle but you can own bolt action, lever action ,straight pull, millitary rifles with the semi gas hope welded shut so you have to cock it for each shot.
I don't know why but pump action rifles are banned.
You can own cap and ball (muzzle loading revolvers) but apart from that all pistols are illigal.
We have no caliber limits so some have tank guns.
Not many people in the UK own firearms and if you ask a person on the street they would have no idea.
Also in the UK you can't buy primers or powder and they are even thinking of banning brass and bullets, also any useful gun parts you need a permit for.
Plenty of illigal guns from eastern Europe are in the UK, they banned guns now people just stab each other to death.
In Northern Ireland if your ex army or police you can conceal carry but it's for cases where you are at risk of being killed by the IRA.
But islands like gurnsy and Jersey have different laws and with a simple certificate you can own any non machine gun.
In France anyone can buy a Italian replica of a cap and ball revolver, you can get a permit and own whatever pistols or rifles you like, in the past France had a ban on civilians using millitary calibers so they had some strange guns converted to get around this law but now millitary calibers are allowed.
No one in France or the UK can conceal carry.
When I got my US citizenship I just went crazy buying firearms, AK parts kits and building them myself with my uncle, getting a conceal carry permit.
AKs are my favorate as they are so fun to shoot and the ammo well it was cheap.
I have been in the UK for a few years as my father passed away so I'm dealing with his businesses.
Although I realy miss my guns in the US (I have some shotguns and rifles in the UK but COVID has closed most ranges)
This is the first time I have spent more than 4 or so months in the UK since I was 18 as 18 onwards I lived in East Asian nations, lived in the US for 2 years (American girls love the British accent and vice versa with British girls)
Can't wait for this COVID crap to be over so I can go back to Japan or China as the UK is too cold and boring for me.
I spend a part of one winter in Albany,NY and the snow was up to my waist it was -30 cellcius but it still felt warmer than a humid UK winter at 4 or so.
What surprised me so much about the US was the insane cost of medical insurance and medical care.

At least when it comes to the modernisation of equipment. EG: We're supposed to have at least 74 F35B's by 2025 and 138 eventually??? Give it another five or ten years and it may change again? Also, you can't really compare them, as members of NATO they tend to be geared up to complement each other not compete, therefore we will be stronger in one area and vice versa.

The fact that the UK helped France regain its freedom in wwii also adds to that attitude. Complete tosh ! Not knocking the French to much, but this assessment goes on numbers only, not strength. So France has slightly more ships, the British has the Astute class attack submarine. She can watch ships leaving New York while still docked at Portsmouth, she can stay submerged and circle the globe, and even the American Navy had to have an enquiry when she owned their latest submarine's in a simulation. She would be eating grilled Barracuda for breakfast.
The T45 air superiority destroyer is possibly currently the best in the world at taking out attacking aircraft, that's what she was built for ( we learn'd from the Falklands campaign). In a French / British conflict you could leave one tied up at the jetty in Portsmouth, and she could down any enemy aircraft within 160 miles, just keep feeding her the missiles.
Armies matter not, cause neither nation is going to be daft enough to try crossing the channel. Truth is, which ever nation try's to be the aggressor, will be spanked by the other. That's why we stopped doing things like this !

Of course the two don't have matching equipment ... this whole asinine video misses the whole point of the Entente Cordiale being that we compliment each other and each play to our strengths .... hence that our combined three aircraft carriers are at the disposal of both nations .... hence for example why the British army and airforce have Chinooks and they provide lift capacity for France which has none, such as right now in Mali where British Chinooks, complete with British crews and ground support, are embedded with the French army.

In the Peninsular war one of Napoleon`s ablest commanders Marshal Soult said..There is no beating these British soldiers they were completely beaten and the day was mine, but they did not know it and would not run. The first world war saw the French on the brink of collapse by 1916 which saw the British bail them out to the tune of £2m a day for the next two years a colossal sum at the time. The second world war saw them "fight" for an afternoon before calling it a day. France was practically unscathed in 1940 look at Paris while Britain was pummelled most major cities. Unfortunately, the video is really not perfect and a lot of details overestimate the British, and underestimate the French. (F-35 aren’t better than the Rafale, even less efficient - The French carrier is a nuclear one - French main battle tank Leclerc is far more efficient than the British one)
Thus, France not only has more equipment, but it is also much more advanced.
And as history shows, France won the most victories, especially against the United Kingdom (and yet, at that time, the United Kingdom was more powerful than France).
Also, in terms of France quickly capitulating to Germany, not only was it just a minority, but France split with a side that continued to fight. Without forgetting that a century before, France made Germany (then Prussia) capitulate even more quickly (1 month).
So this idea has absolutely no research interest…
We will not forget that France has about 300 nuclear warheads, while the United Kingdom has none (except those lent by the United States, but which are of no use in a war against France, the latter country being ally of the United States).
Thus, not only from the modern aspect, but also from history, everything shows that the fight is absolutely not close to equality, but that France will defeat the united kingdom from afar ;)

I have no problem with the French or you but but i do have with the channel Dezz is reacting to Binkov's Battlegrounds, for some reason he does not like the Brits and has no clue what he is talking about. 2 years ago he made a video about what would happen if Russia invaded Ukraine and it was a train wreck to say the least knowing what we know now. He took that one down and put another one up which was not quite as funny so the guy is just a chancer. BTW God save the King and Vive la France! 👍

@@Michael.Talbot I know the history my man. If you go far enough everyone is a mix of many origins. That’s Europe.
From what I see in terms of tonnage, firepower and weapons system France’s navy is second but I don’t know if those lists include Turkey and Russia. That’s why I specified number one in EU. In terms of second most powerful western military I’m going by power index’s which has been ranking France ahead of UK last few years, of course this doesn’t include Russia. I take those with a grain of salt because I know UK is right up there and highly capable and stronger on paper doesn’t always translate to superiority on the field. Just ask Russia and US.
France and Uk are so close in many areas it’s actually funny to watch since they’re big rivals. Population, economy, military, history etc..
I know UK is a major arms producer but in that category France has been able to remain independent thanks to De Gaules policies like leaving NATO’s unified command. Of course it’s changing with Macron who wants more European cooperation but France remains in the top 5 arms producer and exporter.
I’ll be the first to admit that France cannot fight a war on its own today. We need allies. We have a very good military but it’s too small and cannot sustain a long term, medium to high intensity campaign on its own. Trust me US was helping in Mali with logistics and intelligence among others like UK, Germany. Speaking of Germany with the major investments they’re making they could eventually surpass us. We know what they’re capable of.
I don’t take these kind of videos too seriously and trust me if France had to fight a unidimensional war against UK I wouldn’t like our chances. Thankfully I believe that will never happen. We can fight on the small things but in the grand scheme of things we’re on the same side. Good to have you as best frienemy. 🇬🇧🤝 🇫🇷

@@dominique4700 Thank you for your understanding. I have French family living in France. The French today are not being compared to the French of 1939. Then, the bureaucrats simply caved in & didn't try fighting for their country. I know some French fought for their country & the French Resistance were magnificent. They really helped with the war effort.

If you have such a good mental, why didn't you win immediately against the Germans, and were slaped like everybody else ?
Why did you give up the counter attack proposed by the French and Belgians, and run away like cowards to Dunkirk while being protected by French soldiers who gave their lives to make you run away?
Why did you launch an anti-French propaganda campaign to boost the morale of your troops after the "triumphant" return from Dunkirk, because morale was about to collapse?
Why did you surrender to Singapoor if you have a so good mental ?
