The scenes of Silver Fox in the morning sun as you leave Liverpool are so breathtaking! She's just glowing silver. The clear blue sky, the brick buildings, the silver wheel in the background all make for such a gorgeous sight. Beautifully shot. Thanks.
That's lovely. Thank you! We can't wait to go back there at some point.
I totally agree!
I was brought up in Liverpool so nice to see it again
You are both so charming, watching your videos always leaves me feeling so cheerful.
Awww, thanks, Janet. Have a lovely weekend! Lots of rain here so taking a chill day 👍🏻
Aww guys, what a great vlog and I’m so chuffed your first cruising vlog was Liverpool.
2 years ago I was at a Company ‘Conference’ at the Titanic Hotel, bored to death at the usual corporate bull. On our breaks we sat outside and I was watching the Narrowboats emerging from the tunnel into the dock between the Titanic and Tobacco Warehouse - and it sparked the dream of finishing work and having a new boat built and doing the exact same trip.
2 years on and I’ve stopped work, sold our house and our new boat (which has paralleled your build nearly) now has a date of 4th June for being in the water.
Not got your video skills or talent so been living our journey vicariously via yours.
Soft eh? 😂
Not soft at all! Amazing story! I bet you can't wait xxx
Oh yes! 😁 after a long winter on our ‘holiday’ boat, we are so excited. Feel like a 6 year old on Christmas Eve. haha
The Royal Albert Dock and Salthouse Dock have become the first English marina to receive a Blue Flag award for water quality. Well done to the Canal and River Trust for all there hard work
Go have a look at it today 😬
I enjoy watching. The drone footage adds much. What a beautiful lifestyle.
Thank you! 👍🏻
I have no idea how I stumbled on this channel, but glad I did! Greetings from Tennessee!
We are too! Welcome! Thanks for commenting 👋🏻
As a Southerner living up in Liverpool, the town centre is, as the Sousers say “Amazing”. Truly the 20+ years I have lived up here and have a narrowboat on the L to L canal so know the area and cannot talk highly enough of Liverpool City. Really enjoying your vlogs, nice one👍
Thanks, Jim. I hope we did it justice? 😉🎥
I love a person who winks like you do, Colin, at the start of your blog! It is such a tease.
😉
I can only repeat the comments that have come before me. Great footage ; professionally put together. Lots of fun for us viewers with our cup of coffee, sitting back and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing your journey. It is so relaxing and exciting at the same time. Carry on Lads !
Thank you so much, Rob! x
Absolutely loved this vlog !!! The drone shots were amazing. Thank you for being so informative. The balanced chemistry between you two is nice to watch as well as fun to laugh with you both. We really enjoy you guys and will be watching your future adventures.
Thanks, Paul! I'm still learning how to get the best from the drone, so hopefully that will improve. Thanks for a lovely comment :) x
Leeds lad here(40) for years me and my nephews in there late 20s now have always been on bike rides down the canal, looking at the signs that tell you the distance of Leeds and Liverpool has always had us say "we'll cycle all the way one day" well the time has come and we're doing it later this month, so on that note I'm binge watching your entire series, btw my mum Diane worked on the barrier at Leeds train station years ago and she thinks she recognises you, I'm loving all your vids, thank you guys
Aww, nice one! I cycled Leeds to Liverpool and back on the canal in 2009. I did it in 22 hours. Best of luck!
You should be paid by the Liverpool tourist board for that video! Stunning x
I won't hold my breath though, LOL 😂 It was a fantastic couple of nights. Definitely going back.
She’s a beauty that sleek Sliver Fox! She glides through the water as if she is queen of the waterways.
100% 👍🏻
You guys come across really well, could be a TV show out there who knows?
Ha ha, apart from the obvious one, Crimewatch, I'm, not sure which 😂 xx
Thanks for taking me back 'ome! I was born in Liverpool and left in 1965 for Sydney, Australia. I have been back 4 times since then, but I have to admit I never tire of Liverpool. The docks are certainly different now than they were in the mid-sixties! Great vlog and it certainly brought a tear to my eye. Ta very much!
Awwww, George! Yeah, it needs some development but they're working on it by the looks of it. Glad it brought back memories :) x
Your Boat Really is a Thing of Beauty.
I’m hooked on watching the build and your Journey through Life and your Adventures. Keep up the Great Vlogs and Keep Smiling 👍🏻
Awesome! Thank you!
One of the best, most professional vlogs I’ve ever watched guys, top work!
Awww, come here for a cuddle! That's the nicest thing someone has said to me today. Thank you, Andrew! x
Outstanding video guys, some real money being spent in Liverpool. The boat looks great in the sunlight awesome drone footage along with the music.Nice to see pretty much graffiti free surroundings.Enjoy your upcoming canal adventures.
Cheers Brian, Liverpool was awesome and is a lovely clean city. Thank you for your lovely comments x
What brilliant informative tips and advice you both give, and may I add to the gratitude you pay to those who give there time on this epic adventure
Thanks, Alistair. 💜
Love the drone shots. Really helps to see everything.
Thanks, Andy! x
My wife and i have watched every vlog up to this one. Very inpressed with them all, very informative, funy and well edited. Looking forward to watching the rest. Good luck on your travels.
Awesome! Thank you!
That was excellent seeing my hometown so professionally displayed and great angles too, a very poignant moment there where you framed the sailing ship, schooner "Zebu", she was shipwrecked and destroyed at Anglesey last month so a nice memory of her documented there, well-done fellas.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My daughter spent 4 happy years studying in Liverpool and we used to enjoy visiting the city. I have seen the canal near the museum several times but I didn't think the tunnels were tall enough to navigate.Looks like a fantastic way to arrive at a great city. Enjoy yourselves!
Thanks! x
When Albert Dock closed they simply opened the lock gates into the river and abandoned it. It became derelict and the docks filled up with mud from the river. There was also a fair amount of bomb damage from WWII. Fortunately sense eventually prevailed and it was rescued in the 1980s resulting in the magnificent area it is now.. If you get a chance visit the various museum buildings, they are well worth it.
I believe that the tobacco warehouse has not been renovated until now is because the ceilings were built very low to preserve the tobacco stored within. I think that they are taking out every other ceiling to make enough room.
Fascinating 👍🏻
Great vlog, chaps. I was smiling throughout - you both look so happy! x
We had a fantastic time! 😎
When I used to do narrowboating, my favourite part was going up or down a flight of locks in company of another boat. We made the best acquaintances that way, and often agreed to meet for lunch or supper at this pub or the other, and even met up later at each other's houses. I miss it.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great Vlog ,Liverpool docks have certainly changes since I last saw them in 1967 prorto emigrating to Canada. Then they were filled with dozens of Blue Funnel , Ellerman's City line,ED's ,Furness lines ships ,Lamport and Holt's and a few Ben liners too.The sky line sure has changed a lot too, looking a lot cleaner and not so Victorian despite the good old Liver building still stretching their wings
Wow! That must have been an amazing sight! You must have been really emotional that day? 💜
Have recently caught quite a few episodes and I am thoroughly enjoying your journey. When I was in England three years ago I only saw a few long boats in our travels. I had no idea the extent of the locks and waterways. The beauty of the aerial shots and countryside are a joy to watch. Thank you. Can't wait to visit the country again and find some of these beautiful places.
Glad you like them!
Gorgeous boat guys. Awesome vid, loved the aerial shots, camera work and music. You really nailed this one. Congrats Silver Fox!
Really appreciate your comments David, Thank you xx
That Liverpool canal link is the best one yet! It is a lovely trip along there and under those clean tunnels. Salt house dock is a great place. I loved that whole trip.
Us too. Been back recently 👍🏻
Hi guys,it's a well thought out awesome route, with loads of running commentary ,of all the land marks ,your so informative ,l would like to see
This lovely area,lovely music
Sweet the two narrowboats together and I don't think I've seen a lock under a bridge before. That was amazing.
Glad you liked it, Susan x
What a beautiful blog! You guys are real pros. And so much fun!
That’s not a boat. That’s a work of art. Truly stunning boat, really loving the vlogs.
Thank you so much!
Very well put together video and audio lads , and as a Liverpudlian its great to see the city shed in a good light for a change and to see the parts of Liverpool that some of us haven't , had not idea that the Stanley flight existed until today .
keep up the fab work gents .
Cheers for a lovely comment! We had a fab time! x
Been to Liverpool so many times on vacation and wandered around the docks and seen the canals by the museum. Always wondered if the water came from the Mersey, never knew about the canals.. Now I know better.. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
Fabulous buildings coming into Liverpool what a great sight and Silver Fox looks bootiful shining in the sun. Great vlog boys.
It really is a fantastic way to come into Liverpool. Highly recommended! Yeah, she dazzled the docks 😎 Cheers, David x
Congrats from Down Under (where women glow and men thunder). Really professionally done and a fascinating look at Liverpool.
Thank you! Glad you liked it 👍🏻
Back in the 20th century my uncle was the chairman of a shipping line, based in Liverpool and Birkenhead docks. He had his office in the Liver Building. That was when the docks and warehouses were still doing what they were built for!
WOW. I bet that’s going back a fair while x
That was very interesting, the area is filled with so much 'recent' history. Some of my ancestors left those docks to start new lives in NZ back in the 1800's. It would have been a very different place then and now it looks amazing. Great footage and your boat looks stunning.
I could have done a two hour vlog on the history of those docks! xxx
Thank you. A wonderful trip though the Liverpool approaches. I was amazed to spot hundreds of small swimming jellyfish (moon jellyfish) in Canning Dock. A fascinating sight just caught by a strong sun.
Hi, John. Yeah, there were thousands of them in the dock. x
Great first "underway" vlog. N/B Silver Fox is a STUNNER! Her "livery" looks ideal in any light conditions, and she SEEMS to have good seakeeping, er, canal keeping, no... ????... "moving along presence"... that has GOT to do.
Kudos to you both for what also appears to be a fast climb up the steep incline of helm control.
I will, with your permission of course, continue to live however vicariously through YOUR adventures...
Cheers from Canada, hard by Georgian Bay, Ontario...
Hi, Robert! She 'swims' beautifully! I think that's the phrase 🤔
Thanks for a lovely comment. It means a lot 😊 xx
That was a great video! Hope you do a similar one of Manchester this made Liverpool look beautiful and great for boaters... bargees... what’s the right word? Boaters makes me think of plastic gin palaces, and bargees make me think of Breton caps and pipes with a ginger beard. Oh well.
Interestingly I thought of you this morning, I was looking through old pictures- a couple of years ago I stayed in s holiday cottage at a house called Fox Hall- the door knocker was a silver fox! Ha
Boaters 👍🏻 You were right first time. We're not heading towards Manchester yet but I'm sure we will soon.
Thanks guys for showing the Liverpool waterfront (known as the Pierhead) at its glorious best. I worked at the top of the Liver Building for 32 years and was able to watch the construction of the Link from on high. I will keep an eye out for your return.
Thanks, Philip. We will DEFINITELY be back one day 👍🏻
She looks beautiful in the sun!
Thank you xxxx
You guys do a great job bringing us on your adventure.
Thank you! 👍🏻 Really glad you enjoy it 👋🏻
loving the cinematography & editing, its looking really professional. well done guys , enjoy!!!!!
Thanks, Mick. I'm still learning! x
Another great vlog, I must say that Liverpool has changed since we were last there, but that was in 2001. Our daughter went to Liverpool John Moores Uni, and we went there for her graduation ceremony. We stayed in a hotel overlooking the docks, and went for a cruise around the docks, and a drive around the city landmarks, in an amphibious vehicle.
We're preparing to move onto our boat, and we're on a waiting list for a mooring on the Trent and Mersey canal, so I guess we'll be heading to Liverpool in the not too distant future.
Fantastic John, hope everything goes well for you with your move. Thank you for your lovely comments xx
I remember climbing over the wired wall and ripping my trousers in about 1980 to look at the Stanley Lock flight and photograph them when they were threatened with closure. They look a lot different today!
Oh no!
Ok I am sold, gonna have to visit Liverpool now. I can't get over how pretty it looked, though that might be your cinematography! You always get the best shots!! Always look forward to your Vlogs. Keep enjoying life! X
It's really a nice place! Haha! Thanks :) x
Completely new view of Liverpool! Totally different seeing Albert Dock from the water! Thanks for a great vlog!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Been at the Albert dock in 2011 when on holiday, love the video. Very interesting.
Very cool!
What a great vlog! Silver Fox looks absolutely stunning - especially those shots with blue sky & the Liver Building in the background. It's many years since I visited Albert Dock, so I really enjoyed seeing all the new development there .... and it all looks so clean! Looks like you are both loving life aboard - can't wait for the next vlog 😊👍
Thanks, Willow! Yeah, we're really starting to settle down now and are enjoying every moment :) x
Great travel guide for the 'pool, plus seeing it from a different perspective, a super start to your adventure, thanks boys ❤👍
Thanks, Bob! 👍🏻
WOW!!! Small word, massive meaning. What a professional vlog that was. Brilliant. Well done guys. Enjoy the Lancaster. I had a yoghurt pot on there, right outside our static caravan, near Garstang. Such wonderful memories. These were the days when the Lancaster was not connected to the network. Glasson dock, a must visit. Anyway, enjoy.
Not thought about Glasson Dock but you’re the third person to recommend it. Will have to go! 👍🏻
Interesting as hell. Who'da thought that little section existed on the extensive British canal system. Thanks for introducing it to the world.
We almost took a winter mooring in that Dock.
@@FoxesAfloat It would be great for those that crave a little 'big city' in their idyllic existence, or a small change of pace. The country meadows look more appealing from here. I've seen mention of winter mooring from other cruisers, maintenance etc. Roughly how many months does that entail?
Who knew Liverpool looked that good !
Lovely place!
Amazing guys, silver fox looks amazing, you two look so happy and chilled, what a fantastic life, well done
Thank you so much! x
love you guys! you're brilliant! better than the doom and gloom I usually watch!
Thank you Luke ❤️👍
Silver Fox is looking so modern and new with its striking red stern accent, a brilliant boat from every angle. And what a beautiful video, so well produced with lots of time and effort in every shot. You lads are also becoming accomplished drone pilots. Thank you and I’m looking forward to many more videos to come.
Thanks, Jay. That's really nice of you to say. She really is stunning, especially when the sun comes out. xx
And so the journey begins. Brilliant 😎
And what a start! Exceeded my expectations. Next stop the Lancaster! x
My old Dad would have loved to have been with you on this dock trip - he worked for Rea Lighterage during the last war and until he retired in the late '50's. A barge he was responsible for was bombed at Bootle warehouse and it was fortunate that he had made his way home before reporting back the following day. Consequently, we had a lean -to built at our canal side house out of the remnants of the wooden warehouse canopies - those were the days eh!
Wow! Amazing! So many people have memories of the docks. It's been great to hear so many stories and memories! xx
As a young kid,the locks by the stanley docks were my swimming baths,to be in our gang you had to dive, not jump, but dive of the bridge tunnel going across, great howard street about 20 to 25 feet high, then we would swim thru the tunnel and into the stanley dock basin,if i seen any of my kids or grandkids doing the same i would go crazy, great days in my home patch LIVERPOOL, i still belong to you
Terrific vlog, thank you. NBSF looks magnificent on the water (as we knew she would!) and Liverpool looks worth a visit.... So happy to see you cruising and looking forward to many more vids.
Aha! The adventure finally begins 👍🏻😂
Cruising the cut & Journey with Jono now have some competition in the 'video, audio & editing' quality department! Lovin' Your Work!
Praise indeed. Thank you! x
It's nice to see a canal boat vlog in the north of England, most vloggers seem to only go as far as Birmingham.
We're going to be Kings of the North! LOL! x
Excellent first trip....really enjoyed it. Kind regards from Canada
Thank you! xx
Great Stuff!!! I love Liverpool! GO REDS. Y.N.W.A. ALL the best boys on your travels, hope you get many sunny days like that last one.
So do we! Thank you ☀️ xx
Did the link and moored in Salthouse Dock a few years ago in one of the Bear Boating Narrowboats. Molly Moo, from memory, though it may have been Jessica Boo. They were amused when we told them we were doing the Liverpool end and not bringing their precious boat down the Yorkshire side of the canal. We had a fabulous time.
Wow! That's a trek from Their marina to Liverpool. Well done!
@@FoxesAfloat truth to tell, we changed to Liverpool when they told us we had to pick the boat up in Barnoldswick (Barlick, I think you Yorkshire folk call it?). How a government can imagine it’s OK to redraw a boundary and shift a whole village from Yorkshire to Lancashire is beyond me. Haven’t they heard of the Wars of the Roses?
Orrrible memories as Shaun will attest to as a seafarer; @2:15 collingwood dock appears, home of my sea survival training...testicularly cold in January 🥶 but super memories of my Polytechnic days back in ‘85 in the Albert Basin. ...keep on chugging 👍
Yeah, I can imagine the docks being icy cold. We were there in May and it was still chilly with blue skies!
We’re heading in to Liverpool tomorrow so found your vlog both informative and reassuring. Thank you.
Have a brilliant time. We love Liverpool! ❤️👍
At 1:55 before the developers turned the building into a hotel, it was used for filming locations. Both Captain America (scene where the villain escapes in the submarine) and Sherlock Holmes (explosion scene where he is running) where filmed their. The building on the left was the original Stanley Dock Market location.
Wow! I never knew that! My best mate is in to all those types of movies so I'll have to show him the vlog. Thanks, Dave! x
The titanic has a bizzare lighting scheme, based apparently on the ship, so the lower floors have very low level corridor lighting. Apparently I was not considered first class and got put on a lower floor. If I ever go back I will take a torch. It might be authentic, but it’s really annoying, especially since it’s very expensive even for the floor I was on. For the football fans (which I am not), when I was Everton team stayed on one night, and the Arsenal team were there on the next night, so ok for those like to see the teams before matches. And while I’m reviewing the hotel in a completely inappropriate place, the pool they advertise is a separately chargeable extra cost... and not cheap, just saying......
In my hometown thank you for the great positive review and lovely footage just sorry I missed you as we live just off the canal in Litherland.....maybe next time!
I’m sure we’ll be back 💜
Really great to see Liverpool again and with the history chat. The boat looks gorgeous. Thank you , well done !
Sheila, thank you! xxx
Man you guys nailed it!! GREAT video!!! Love the shadow wave! Soooo much to see and the filming is some of the best I've seen!!!! Music works well too!!! NAILED IT!!!!!!
Thank you, Meg! Glad you enjoyed it :) x
Just stunning photography. Looks like an amazing trip!
Thanks, Nicholas. Yeah, it was ace! 👍🏻
Gosh, she just looks sooooooo lovely in the water, and I know it’s not the right term but I love her beak! Beautiful footage and wow, yeah, what a clean tunnel! I hope the kid who fell (jumped?!) into the water is okay!
Yeah, he had schizophrenia and had been taking drugs early. He had hypothermia but I believe he was okay. 💜
@@FoxesAfloat Yikes!! I hope he is getting help
all-round excellent - entertaining, informative and some great shots. Makes me wanna go, well done
Thanks, David! x
What a lovely way to see Liverpool and I'm so glad that they are renovating the canal system it will be a huge draw to Liverpool, it was lovely to see what they are doing with all the dock warehouses when they are turned into luxury flats bet they cost a fortune 😃 the drone shots were fabulous thanks for taking my on your journey
We had a great time, it was lovely. Definitely going back soon. Thank you for commenting. Always nice to hear your thoughts. xxx
Spencer Wilton let's hope they can find a solution for the water shortages because it looks like they can be a huge tourist attraction, some of those buildings apart from the history and the the story they they tell of Liverpool in the past are just stunning and seeing them from the canal makes it more interesting
Here in Canada we are settling in for a long frozen winter, Im looking forward to watching all of your lovely videos while Im hiding from the cold.
It was - 26 here the other day :/ and the bearings on my dinghy trailer seized while towing the boat home causing the tire to catch fire. Far too cold to repair the axel on the road so poor Ringhy is spending the week at a truck stop waiting to be rescued with a bigger trailer.
Keep up the brilliant adventures guys and have a lovely Christmas.
-26...!?!?! Jeez! 🥶
Have a warm, cozy Christmas, Beth! 💜
Ooh I loved everything about that Vlog. SF looks amazing. You did my home city proud! The drone footage was sooo professional. So pleased you’re enjoying this journey, I look forward to much more 😊
Christine! How lovely, thank you! Liverpool is a great place and it doesn't get enough credit. xxxx
This beautifully shot/edited video brought home a need to learn more about the history behind the epic Liverpool Docklands; one can only imagine what it must have been like in its heyday - teeming with sailboats, sea-going sail ships, and all those tenders scurrying about, tending to one and all. (lol) Very nicely done; and Silver Fox looked fantastico! You two looked pretty chill, too! lol Dillon was spotted, checking-out that boat next to you in the lock, and he looked pretty chill, too!
Yeah, Dillon is settling in nicely. Faster than I did! I agree, the docks must have been buzzing back in the day! x
Thanks for the guided tour around Liverpool. Excellent vlog👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you! 👍🏻
You guys brighten our day!
Aww, thank you so much!
Awesome first video diary of silverfox. It’s been surreal seeing it from start to finish. And now I’m watching ur first narrowboat video. Binge watching continues 😊
Enjoy! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
lads she looks so shiny and the place looks so cool I also cannot understand why narrowboats are not using it more as well. but you both look happy and enjoying yourself. keep on videoing for us all.
We're having a great time. Thanks, Ray! x
Geat good looking boat you have there, sirs, and nice people you are, indeed. Btw such a great scenery, the boat in the lock and the yellow train passing the bridge.
Thanks! Yeah, I was waiting for a train to pass! ha ha... 😂 xx
Thank you for the ride along! Such interesting landmarks.
Our pleasure!
Lovely couple, lovely boat. Wish you all the best.
Thank you! You too!
14:21 magnificently captured shot with the train!
Thanks! I waited for it 😂 xx
Great video with excellent information and beautiful photography
Many thanks, Richard!
My beautiful home town. Great vid lads. 😀👍🏻
Cheers Mark!
The peeky blinders cap looks really good on you, Colin - the boat looks super. The aerial shots were fantastic ❤️👍👏👏👍
Terry, thank you! xx
Nicely done. Really beautiful shots of the NB Silverfox gliding through Liverpool.
Many thanks!
@@FoxesAfloat thanks goes to you both for revealing a whole new and beautiful world with these outstanding videos.
The quality of your videos is truly amazing, especially the drone footage. A bit of very minor criticism, I personally didn't care for the music on this one, it sounded so much like what you hear on TV shows. I very much enjoy the music you have used on other videos, typically soft piano and guitar, I just don't care for the harsh guitar strumming on this one. Just my opinion, don't let it get you down. I feel privileged to see all your videos and please keep them coming. WELL DONE GUY"S and Thank You !
Hehe! We used that music because it was reminiscent of the Beatles, who came from Liverpool. That's why it's unique to that episode 👍🏻
Wow n Double n Triple wow guys.....watching you begin your journey is amazing....I am definitely living vicariously through these vlogs as the canals have always fascinated me for many years....I feel I am there lol....thanks again....I have a bit of catching up to do but I am sure I will enjoy your joys n tribulations
Thanks so much!!
Awesome video guys, lovely, so interesting & informative!!!!
Thanks so much!
How great is that! Your first voyage on your lovely boat! I totally understand the stress related to moving and all things new. The first 5 years of owning our home I was waiting for something to go wrong.
I still am 😂
Now that was super, GREAT drone footage as you moved up the locks, jealous of you guys. Happy cruising, BRAVO ZULU
Cheers Greg
Never realised how many docks were in Liverpool! It’s amazing. What a great vlog. Thank you. So great to see you on Narrowboat Silver Fox! xx
Thanks, Sue! Yeah, there are loads of docks and acres upon acres of land that needs developing. Great location though! x
