There are things to debate against and things to use context and common sense that tournament or KO football is about eliminating and qualifying to the next round cause possession and stats don't appear on the cup trophies just like the Carabao cup and the FA cup unfortunately champions league is the hardest considering the teams available.

There more than a couple of examples of them taking a handful of shots and with the opponent taking more. But Madrid still go through. One game they had 3 shots whilst PSG had 21. Another at home they had 10 shots with Chelsea taking 28. They won both ties on aggregate.
Most notable example in the final against Liverpool. They took 4 shots whilst Liverpool had 24. And they won. That's why they do so well in the UCL. They are comfortable playing any style needed to get a result.

Real dont have a good defense yet the amazing City couldn't knock them over. If Madrid win the CL this season then all the English wins in total will match them. No respect hence they almost always beat English clubs. Even though i support a PL club i love it when the PL clubs except mine 😊 get bumped as we hear so much disrespect. @@dannybradley8391 Small but important correction: Man City are better in the *ball possession* department., which doesn't always equate to a consistent creation of high quality chances when facing a style that hard counters possession-oriented teams like the catenaccio pulled off by Madrid for 100+mins. City had 33 shots with only 9 on target and an xG of 2.7, compared to Madrid's 3 on target with an xG of 1.4. Taking an even closer look, Man City's xGOT (for shots on target) was actually only slightly higher than Madrid's at 1.79 vs. 1.46, meaning that City potentially only had a second goal in them the whole game after all of that possession, after all of those shots taken and all of those crosses and corners put into the box. That second goal was probably De Bruyne's missed sitter but what Madrid did so well for so long is to reduce all of that control over the game that City had (particularly after Rodrygo's goal) to just ~2 high quality chances in 120mins.
One of those went in and the other, well if you're playing a calculated numbers game to get to the penalty shootout where arguably you might have the upper hand with more experience (and intel on the opposition thanks to Kepa and Rudiger)...reducing the opposition to a coin flip on one, maybe two chances is as good as it gets in reducing the effectiveness of the opposing team's high possession percentage. City are obsessed in having control of the ball (like most Guardiola teams do), but Madrid and Ancelotti made sure that obsession was largely inefficient and far more ineffective than usual with a disciplined and resilient display of Catenaccio while still maintaining a somewhat reasonable xG of 1.4 across the few chances they had overall. It's neutralising your opponent while still maintaining a credible threat on the counter attack.
The difference between Madrid's Catenaccio display and the park the bus of say a Luton Town or most other teams is that Madrid can still keep high enough xG numbers on the break while also holding City's to within arm's length, resulting in a low xG difference between the two that unsurprisingly led to the penalties. A 'park the bus' team would also have 11 men behind the ball but crucially with something like 0.5xG or less, and typically in a league game where that side are playing for either the 1 point draw or even to simply avoid racking up the numbers in the Goals Against column, and then roll on next match.
Conclusion: Wednesday night was just one example of what Madrid do best on this stage: they know how to win 'ugly' when necessary and play the numbers game to seize victory out of the jaws of defeat, more than any other club in the history of the UCL.

Winning city that way makes me and many others happy we saw the most feared and most dangerous players among them asking their coach to change them, suffered and lost the game and exhausted đŸ˜© bringing city to their knees

The old inexperienced excuse. Perhaps they should sign the champions league experienced man of the match Eric Dier 😅?
Boring Assnal were lucky to win on pens against Porto, played Bayern at home with no visiting fans and still got exactly what they deserved, nothing!

Yeah, right.. Southgate has been winning trophies left and right. What a nonsense. It's astonishing how every time English teams are spanked out of CL, the English Media's sourness finds a new limit. Real Madrid has not spent a fraction of Man City in recent times and getting every ounce of juice from their veterans (35/34/38) on the run is astonishing albeit painful to swallow for defenders of English teams. One has to just compare these 2 teams benches to stay a bit rational... but Southgate comment was just a whole new level.

Real Madrid are a better defensive team than City are offensively. The best team didn't lose just because you like they playing style more. City need to learn how to play in different ways especially in the champions league. They still haven't learn how to navigate this competition and grind out wins on nights where your opponent is not Burnley

That’s nothing to do with luck but fortune favours the best. Big clubs and big teams know how to adapt to win and Real is the biggest of them all.

3 top City players asked to be subbed off, can't push on till the end, that's just throwing in the towel. That's the difference, Madrid defended well till the end and got the win, that's all that matters. Both City and Arsenal bottled it.

The penalty kick was an example of genius and not accidental. Real chose the old, the mentally tough and left the usual goalscorers out. It was 3 from the back row Vazquez, Nacho and Rudiger that made the difference. Brilliant move and not English at all.

So the best league will have the same winner for the fourth consecutive time and no team in the semi finals of the elite competition. đŸ€š
