- The DM01 Digital LCD Microscope has many uses. This one seems to be a good quality one and easy to use. By far, the best feature of this is the LCD screen. It allows multiple people to see the same thing at the same time which can help foster discussion. The built-in batteries seem to be holding a charge descently well too.
The PC software I was planning to test with is called AMCap and is available here: softfamous.com/amcap/

Fantastic, dude! One of those would be AWESOME for my DIY videos! 😃
Nice job, Trav! Sometimes I could use this thing. Especially with all the surface mount components we deal with on our quads. Sheesh...
Being able to record would make it real useful for videos.
I did some surface mount soldering this past year. It is not fun. It is so small I was having a hard time knowing if I got it right or was cross soldering stuff.
travisgrindal Yuuup... I built an Oscilloscope a while ago that was all surface mount! Wow! Had to shrink myself down Antman size... and then there was the whole (getting back big again) thing. Tedious, man!!! Ha ha Sorry! But yeah, I built one, but it was just resisters and caps I had to Sodler on.
But it’s crazy hard to do that stuff. I could have fixed an esc I had on a quad that just got hot and had some chips slide sideways. I’m just not setup for doing chips that way. Guess I need one of those hot air setups I’ve seen. Had to throw that esc away. But it makes me think... if these components unsolder that easily at lower temps, that’s not good juju, man! Made me sad. I’ve been working on electronic since the 70s, but mainly on components you can see when you’re working on them! Lol
Nice talking with you, Travis!

Whats the maximum working distance?
need to state that it can have external monitor....
I have a standard binocular microscope and it's my ideal method of viewing my work. I would not buy the item you reviewed because I would be wanting to see where my hands are.
You mean because the screen is too small?
@@travisgrindal well yes the screen is a bit on the small side and the viewing angle is too small; need to see much more of the board. But they are not the reason for what I said specifically. What I mean is, that I need to be looking at an object as if it is in my hands. It may be because I have looked through electronic repair microscopes for years. I don't want to sound elitist but a proper microscope with a camera connected to a large monitor is ideal for repairs such as what Louis Rossmann uses. The device you are demonstrating is great for first timers. I apologies for not saying that it's just a personal preference and that these types of microscopes you are trialling here are most suitable for such repairs and inexpensive. I bought my daughter one 2 years ago without the screen and it is so so but today the camera quality has proved.
Are you really reviewing a microscope from Banggood?
Impulse buys. :)
