    Em's not ignoring the beat. He's actually doing a polyrhythm. For example, imagine doing a 3 beat pattern over 4 beat bars. In this scenario, the patterns would match up every 12 beats. The 3 beat pattern would sound out of sync (to the average ear), but it's not actually when our brains figure out that it can count both patterns at the same time. This is the way many drummers think, and being that Em makes beats, it's easy to see these concepts laid out visually on the computer. He's playing chess with rhythms, while the average listener is used to hearing checkers.

    • @elzyofficial9087
      @elzyofficial9087 Před 3 lety +6

      I delve in and out of the ability to write in polyrhythm, as in being able to pinpoint syllables to the parts of the beats I want to so I can flow properly. But I struggle to do this passively any ideas on how to be able to constantly do it.

    Em sends his entire verse to Nas. BUT Nas had every opportunity to extend his verse but chose not to for some reason.
    Big Sean even said that you can't even cut an Em verse because its so meshed together with the production, you change a tiny thing and it messes up the whole scheme.

    The last part being acapella is a great idea!
    if the beat disappeared as he switched to that last cadence.. CHILLS!
    so yeah.. I agree 100%

    I think they both did great. Nas has this just effortless rapping ability and sounds smooth asf. His voice is iconic as well. He raps a bit more poetic I guess would be the word. And Eminem just kind of spazzes with the flow and finds crazy pockets and it’s just punchline after punchline. A couple of his line were a bit corny imo. But I liked it for the most part. Sometimes it ain’t all about what you are saying. It’s the way you are saying it. If you have the flow, cadence, delivery and multi syllable and internal rhymes, you can make things sound good.

      I love Eminem but people have to understand hip-hop was born out of racism that's why you see a lot of soul and Street politics with the government in Hip-Hop. Eminem can't produce that so he can never be the greatest of something that was born out of racism! And yes it's because he's white no disrespect it is what it is.

      @@mrworkowt5419 Hip hop was born on racism. I agree with you but its not the only aspect of hip hop, far from it. Its to express one's feeling's as bad or good as it could be and talk about difficulties in their life and its also about rhymes, flow and BARS technicity. Its pretty blur of what hip hop really is but eminem sure can be described as the goat. He suffered of racism, discrimination and extreme poverty and talked about it. He even diss his own mama out of rage cuz its like i said, hip hop is to express feeling's as bad as it sound like or could be. Im black by the way👍🏾👍🏾

He sets it up specifically by saying his “paper is crazy”. So “mill” doesn’t just mean million here. It means mill as in paper mill, the fuckin factory where paper is made lmao.
