      @@thomy1955 I don't care what Mercedes does and I wouldn't be unhappy if Mercedes had lost one or two titles. Let alone that Ferrari would get a proper chance with Hamilton (at least in 2017-2018). That is supposing that Hamilton didn't play a big role in making Mercedes what it is today.

      No doubts Lewis is the ebst driver of his generation and was superbly talented even when McLaren were no longer that good, but just saying TV networks like Sky sports like to push the English/british athlete agenda. Yesterday even when Lewis was nowhere near the pace till 20 laps all they talked about was how he could win his 7th championship that day and ignored so much of race commentary ahead of him. Sky sports do this a lot even in football.

However, looking beyond that, exceptional talents will still succeed without the British media behind them. Way before Sky had F1, Lewis was a phenomenon. In his Karting and GP2 days, before the media cared at all, his name reverberated around the racing scene. Go watch Australia 2007 again and tell me he didn't stand out amongst established names, not just next to Fernando. Micheal knew this.. some talents just force you to take notice. Sorry if I went on a bit.

That’s one of the side effects of a traumatic brain injury. Dude hit his head on a rock hard as hell, was in a coma, I’m sure he’s going through it.

      It was not the accident that broke him. It was the year after that ("alonso is faster than you" incident that broke him mentally.
      To be able to fight back from the brink of the death, and almost conquer his demon by start winning another race on the anniversary of the incident was amazing, until he was told to give away his win to alonso.
      It was cruel for Ferrari to do that, and I was ashamed to be a Ferrari tifosi at that point.

      It almost goes without saying that Michael is one if the goats but the same should be said for Lewis, to be considered as one of them. Extraordinary achievements from both drivers.

      Your forgetting Schumacher won his first wdc in a v8 when his main rival was using a v10 which was more fuel hungry and also after Williams had been stripped of its driver aids, it’s not the drivers fault if the team does it’s homework better than the others

    Schumacher! The first one to all these records. Now Ham, will there be a 3rd driver? As boring as it may be for some you never know. I love hearing Michael's voice. So sad we can have him be the way he once was. He would have been present in giving Lewis the helmet and congratulating him.

      Second actually. Fangio was first. Let's not forget that he couldn't compete for the wins records, because there were less than 10 races per season back then. Also that F1 started when he was already 39 (older than Hamilton today). Yet he got 5 championships with 4 teams in the 8 years of his career.

      I wouldn‘t mind another 7 or 8 time world champion if he gets those titles in a competitive field where his team isn‘t in its own league.
      But if he gets his titles in a 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020 fashion, then hell no.

    If Michael has no problem with it. Then I have no problem with it. Personally, as a Lewis skeptic, I came away from the Turkish Grand Prix as a total believer. Though it is true that there was luck involved (the rain that threatened to come at the second half never arrived), Lewis showed guts, finesse, and a killer instinct befitting of all the greatest drivers of the sport.

      I always thought "yeah good for him but I want better races", but yeah, this year has turned me into a LH fan, too. He is being slept on by way too many in the F1 fan world, and deserves so much more respect and praise than he's being given right now. It would be absolutely incredible if he manages an EIGHTH title, either next year or later, and totally deserved. He is truly up there with the best of them (and possibly in the conversation of one of the greatest athletes period, like Serena, MJ and the like).

      Hamilton has probably the most humility on the grid. The man thanks everyone that helped him get here, every single podium. He thanks his dad for sacrificing so much to afford his karting days. He raises awareness about racial inequality and those with special needs (his brother has cerebral palsy). Schumacher did very little of this and intentionally crashed many of his rivals. Schumi was a good man off track but a dick on it.

      Why? Because he's a fellow German or Because he was actually good enough? Seb is a great driver dont get wrong but he hasn't been championship quality in his driving since his days at Red Bull. Best since wouldve been when him and Kimi were at Ferrari and they simply couldn't keep up with the Mercs and for seb it's been honestly down hill ever since.

      @@nrnsclark94 In 2010-2012, Seb was so happy to be racing with his idol (Schumacher) and he also respected him massively. A thought as to why Schumacher wanted Seb to win a load of titles is, as you pointed out, a fellow German and wanted to have his fan on top, especially with Alonso (Schumacher’s rival in the mid 2000’s) fighting with him for the title.

      He would've done it if they stuck with the NA engines for longer.
      Crazy to think the FIA keeps the same hybrid engine design for 7 years (and intend to keep it for another 5 years) when it's clear Mercedes have the dominant engine but any Red Bull aero advantage in 2011-13 was promptly outlawed.

      ​ @Sumit Shines well, imho the real GOAT is Fangio, my top 3 would be 1-Fangio 2-Senna 3-Alonso. Schumi won 4 of his 7 titles completly free, like Hamilton is doing now, and for me, those dont count. Ham has 3 (2008 and 2014-15) and Schumi other 3 if we count the 1st one in 94 were he crashed like the dirty driver he is (94,95 and 2000). All of the other championships could have been won by ANY other TOP driver in their situation. F1 is 90% the car, 10% the hands, not like in 50's, 60's, where the driver made the difference.

    Lewis owes all his success to Toto and Mercedes for giving him a reliable car that is always ahead in terms of improvements versus other teams. Would Lewis be winning all these races and championships in a Williams ? At this level, most drivers have similar skill. They can drive around a race track at high speeds and have pin point reaction times. Lewis is a good driver just like most others in F1 but you are as successful as the car you drive.

      Everyone always asks would Lewis be dominant if it wasnt for Mercedes. But they never ask would Mercedes be dominant without Lewis. He went to the team when they were 5th and he played a huge role in car development. He didn't just hop in the car and start driving.

    Massa unfortunately was never the same after the accident. As for Schumacher that is why I idolize the man he’s not worried about the GOAT argument and that is what makes him the greatest. A fantastic, driver mechanic and strategist. No racer nowadays has all three qualities.

    Fangio drove in the 50's. Schumacher beat the records 50 years later. Hamilton beat (or equalised) that record ≈ 15 years later, when also Vettel dominated.
    That just shows how boring formula 1 has become.
