It was not the accident that broke him. It was the year after that ("alonso is faster than you" incident that broke him mentally.
To be able to fight back from the brink of the death, and almost conquer his demon by start winning another race on the anniversary of the incident was amazing, until he was told to give away his win to alonso.
It was cruel for Ferrari to do that, and I was ashamed to be a Ferrari tifosi at that point.
Wish you well Michael. Simply the best. ❤
I like how humble Michael is too about it
The GOAT himself believed Lewis and others can break his records but Ham fans just can't get the fact that Michael did everything before hybrid era and before Lewis. Michael the GOAT of all time. #keepfightingMichael
It almost goes without saying that Michael is one if the goats but the same should be said for Lewis, to be considered as one of them. Extraordinary achievements from both drivers.
Lewis was a champion before the hybrid era, heck if he didn't miss out by a single point in his rookie season he would have been a double world champ after two years in F1 😳
Yeah Michael is GOAT
Your forgetting Schumacher won his first wdc in a v8 when his main rival was using a v10 which was more fuel hungry and also after Williams had been stripped of its driver aids, it’s not the drivers fault if the team does it’s homework better than the others

Schumacher! The first one to all these records. Now Ham, will there be a 3rd driver? As boring as it may be for some you never know. I love hearing Michael's voice. So sad we can have him be the way he once was. He would have been present in giving Lewis the helmet and congratulating him.
True. At least we could see Mick giving him the helmet. He has the voice of his father.
Second actually. Fangio was first. Let's not forget that he couldn't compete for the wins records, because there were less than 10 races per season back then. Also that F1 started when he was already 39 (older than Hamilton today). Yet he got 5 championships with 4 teams in the 8 years of his career.
I wouldn‘t mind another 7 or 8 time world champion if he gets those titles in a competitive field where his team isn‘t in its own league.
But if he gets his titles in a 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020 fashion, then hell no.
There are a lot of very talented young drivers in decent teams at the moment so who knows. Let's just hope we don't get years of constant domination like most of the history of f1
Barcelona '96! The best F1 performance I've ever seen in my life! I still get chills just to think about. Thanks for all the memories G.O.A.T
Michael is smart. He knows that all records are just there waiting to be broken by someone at some point. Nothing lasts forever unfortunately!
If Michael has no problem with it. Then I have no problem with it. Personally, as a Lewis skeptic, I came away from the Turkish Grand Prix as a total believer. Though it is true that there was luck involved (the rain that threatened to come at the second half never arrived), Lewis showed guts, finesse, and a killer instinct befitting of all the greatest drivers of the sport.
basically the top 5 including Vettel, perez.
bottas on the other hand..have good car but skill still below those top 5
Jeez. Took you long enough. Lewis showcased generational talent from karting to GP2. Took courage to admit it I guess. I suggest watching his races prior to F1 too.
I always thought "yeah good for him but I want better races", but yeah, this year has turned me into a LH fan, too. He is being slept on by way too many in the F1 fan world, and deserves so much more respect and praise than he's being given right now. It would be absolutely incredible if he manages an EIGHTH title, either next year or later, and totally deserved. He is truly up there with the best of them (and possibly in the conversation of one of the greatest athletes period, like Serena, MJ and the like).
@LiberalAlita I'm just explaining how the rest of the F1 fan base feels about it, and how I did up until recently. A lot people would be happy to see merc drop out for better racing at the top of the field. Yeah it's shitty, and that line of thinking needs to change.
@LiberalAlita lol, I didn't like my own post, and we're both saying the same thing: Lewis is great, everyone else needs to catch up. Wtf 😂
I hope Michael is coherent enough to remember saying this, and saw Lewis do it. Man, losing Senna was heartbreaking, but Michael losing so much and not knowing how he is, is just as bad, but I understand why it is being done.

@Sumit Shines well, imho the real GOAT is Fangio, my top 3 would be 1-Fangio 2-Senna 3-Alonso. Schumi won 4 of his 7 titles completly free, like Hamilton is doing now, and for me, those dont count. Ham has 3 (2008 and 2014-15) and Schumi other 3 if we count the 1st one in 94 were he crashed like the dirty driver he is (94,95 and 2000). All of the other championships could have been won by ANY other TOP driver in their situation. F1 is 90% the car, 10% the hands, not like in 50's, 60's, where the driver made the difference.
@@selasdotcom9247 yes well said even for me, also fangio and Alonso has to be in top 3 ...
Yeah he was bitter about Alonso ending his dominance.
Lewis owes all his success to Toto and Mercedes for giving him a reliable car that is always ahead in terms of improvements versus other teams. Would Lewis be winning all these races and championships in a Williams ? At this level, most drivers have similar skill. They can drive around a race track at high speeds and have pin point reaction times. Lewis is a good driver just like most others in F1 but you are as successful as the car you drive.
He moved to Mercedes when they were not the best team, everyone said he did it just for the money, guess who was the one working overtime at the factory with engineers to perfect the car?? He has the best car because helped develop it, give him his credit
Everyone always asks would Lewis be dominant if it wasnt for Mercedes. But they never ask would Mercedes be dominant without Lewis. He went to the team when they were 5th and he played a huge role in car development. He didn't just hop in the car and start driving.
No single driver on the grid would win the world championship with a Williams. F1 has always been about being in the right team at the right time, look at Alonso's career
I miss him man :(
Massa unfortunately was never the same after the accident. As for Schumacher that is why I idolize the man he’s not worried about the GOAT argument and that is what makes him the greatest. A fantastic, driver mechanic and strategist. No racer nowadays has all three qualities.
