7 years ago I did a video on Aion 2. 7 whole years ago.
Back in 2017, NCSoft had an idea for the game. They claimed it was being built utilizing Unreal Engine 4 - at the time, not a bad engine to be developing an MMO in. They promised a large emphasis on PvPvE, much like its predecessor Aion had, allowing players to participate in what they referred to as "Dimensional cracks," a type of cross-server wars.
However, the faction based warfare between the Elyos and Asmodian's was no longer going to be present. Factions were removed in their entirety - with players being free to choose their race without repercussions. This meant you'd see both Asmodian and Elyos players partied - which admittedly, to me, sounds a little bit confusing.
Also unique to the 2017 vision for Aion 2 was the complete removal of classes. No more Gladiator. No more Ranger. No more Spellcaster. Their belief was that "class segmentation" was too limiting, and they wanted to offer players more freedom to play what and how they wanted.
With this in mind, players would be given the option of wielding any weapon, with the ability to change weapon styles, and thus utility, on the fly. Aion 2, to accommodate this new class-less system, would have an entirely new battle system that was not present in the original iteration of Aion.
Aion 2 was also confirmed to be releasing exclusively on Mobile. But don't close the video quite yet - in 2023, 6 years later, it was revealed that this was no longer the case and they made substantial alterations to the game to cater to the PC player audience. But does that mean the game will be better, or worse?
And what else changed over that 7 year period? That's what we're here to discuss.

Its gonna be good, but i dunno NCSOFT how they handle the game Blade and Soul Revolution is still alive Netmarble is handling it good while NCSOFT lineage is a disaster. But lineage and aion 2 differ in gameplay maybe aion 2 will be a good game.
Old Aion was a wild ride. It'll never be like that again.
But maybe it is even better now. For example with a UEVR Mod running on it :)

I miss Aion, Blade and Soul and Wildstar so much. Why did they have to destroy those games
You were my enemy back then ;) what a time back then but I think we never find a game again like that because we were kids and now we are older and more mature. No game ever can cause those feelings again

@@Sincerity1993 well I have a daughter now and maybe a son soon , so . I can tell them to enjoy every single day of childhood as much as they can . If it’s playing soccer outside or sometimes gaming or what ever . with enough discpipline when it’s time to learn and develop and when it’s time to casually game , it’s fine and they will remember their life all the good memories :)

you know stix aion is a game i hold dear to my heart since i have spent 4 year of my life playing it as my main game but then again its NCSoft we are talking about here... and sadly we know how that is gonna end up

Aion was my main MMORPG for 9 years. I loved so much its fantasy story, atmosphere, musics, classes, skills, maps, faction wars, pvp, armors and weapons design BUT im sad to know which NC Soft is going on the worst direction by removing the classes, the two factions and going to a hybrid public between pc and mobile. They are simply killing Aion franchise which had so much potential to evolve to be one of the best in mmo market. Now i'm more hyped on Throne and Liberty and Elyon than Aion 2 for real.
I still occasionally watch their Aion 3.0 trailer. Because, to this day, NO game has yet achieved the claims in that trailer lol
Aion was such a great game. The game couldnt find balance though. There were way more Elyos on the servers than asmodians. Not to mention that everyone was using Aionscript and whatever other hack. Walking out in a group and getting walked over by hackers was a huge downfall for the game. I tried aion classic. And that was great until the hacking resurfaced. The players made it obvious they were hacking. Names like Cheat and Ihack in a guild of 1 player with more millions of more AP than the top PVP guilds. Aion 2 sounds good but the team mismanages the franchise.
Omg I remember vanilla Aion. That was such an amazing experience.

I loved Aion for so many years, I still geta lot of nostalgia over it from time to time, to the point where I even tried playing Aion Classic on both NA and THEN on EU when it came out (and didn't stay with either for long). So I feel like as long as this is playable on PC and F2P, I WILL at least try it out. That being said, I don't trust NCSoft, I know how bad mobile to PC ports usually are, and I am kind of scared of how P2W their games inevitably end up being. So I don't really anticipate good things, but I'll at least try it.

No factions is already a huge turn-off. I'm mostly a pve enjoyer, but pvp in Aion was just too much fun.
No class has huge balance issues. Etc.
Overall this new version looks unnapealing af. There are other games. Mobile players can throw their money away.
I kinda hate the create one character and have all the classes thing MMOs are doing, I like when you get added because you are a healer or whatever and they are taking that away because everyone is going to be everything so its less adding people for their class and more just playing with the same people over and over.
not really, FF14 uses this system and its so much better than 1 class per character, it means i dont have to do map exploration over and over and over or unlocking locations and doing story over and over, its a really good system if done right, anyone that wants to main a class is still going to main that class, i main black mage, i play all the other classes to but i only play black mage in progression content and i sub healer in anything i have already cleared. it lets you use your main to push content and gives you the ability to sub out to something else and avoid burnout by doing something fresh and new.
So by your logic if i want to even try a different class i have to level it up to max level to see if the late game gameplay is to my liking? By your logic if you have a 5/6 party to do a raid and got no healer or tank you just have to give up? By your logic ppl also dont usually join guilds and do said content with the same ppl over and over again? Shut the hell up if you only like to play one class then just play whatever you want but let ppl that like to dip their toes in all classes do it too
@@dragonmaster1599 ff14 is different though, that game actually has classes, aion 2 will be taking away classes entierly.
The fact that this is STILL being developed with mobile in mind makes me think this wil lbe a complete miss.

If Aion 2 is good for two years, before NCsoft destroys it as usual... I will still play it. Two years of good gameplay is better than none, and good memories go a long way.
The more I see stuff about Aion (or for that matter Aion2), I want to play it again... however I'll never touch it again if gameforge or ncsoft is publishing it...

IT is good to see that game devs start to realise that the mobile market now it properly exist for a couple years already.

Pc players tend to be alot more loyal to their games and are way more common to stick to their favorite games or otherwise return regulary

I think Aion Classic is the best way for NCsoft to gain back the trust of past Aion players. Especially with the new 2.7 update. If they can prove that they're capable of handling this IP with care and grace, and that they care about making their players happy, then there might be hope for Aion 2 to be good

I love Mabinogi music in the background lmao. I guess it's better to wait for UE5 version of Mabinogi fashion MMORPG than Aion 2 XD I played Mabinogi and Aion simultaneously back in ~2011. I am kinda disappointed with new Aion Classic and Aion in general. I will wait and see how will Nexon mess up new Mabinogi (or make it "better"), after that I think my love for MMORPGs will fade.

Aion was great especially visually I'd like to see a console port as it's not a very technical game
Still remember playing Rappelz and we were all hyped with Aion, until the official letter from the director of the game to address the botting.
Aion is very much alive on private servers, EuroAion! and still has the best pvp
It was an awesome game when it was first released after that it went downhill fairly quick. I don't play mmo's anymore but i do check in from time to time if i see anything interesting. Looks like nothing's changed.

I remember the fights in-flight in the game AION day one! They were the most exhilarating fights . You give players the power of flight in the game with the correct mechanics for pvp and pve . This game has a lot of potential at the gate! I played AION to the end or destruction of the game (hackers and exploit issues) This is the first title I am talking about to be clear! It's in my opinion Aion was 100 times better than WOW! ( I played a lot of games WoW included day one Uther ) But the owners of the AION team made some bad decisions in the gaming world and it crushed AION for me! This game COULD BE the next gen in PC Gaming all together! But I believe MONETIZATION will destroy this one as well . I remember AION and its evolution of monetization to advance in-game on a mechanics level will be its undoing ! You got the content down for appealing to an audience here, hell many years ago for the this title! I agree with their notion to make another go at it ! Perhaps there is a chance it's not about the money and make a PC game i would look forward to sitting down and playing again ! ( I watched the birth of pc gaming btw )Good luck in its rebirth attempt.........I await its arrival!

As an european everyone is talking how bad NCsoft is. Guys you dont know anything about Gameforge. I will not touch Aion 2 when Gameforge is the publisher for Europe. Rather i would play on NA server with 150 ping. Gameforge is the most braindead company on earth.

00:43 facts NCsoft forced on BnS plus other games from their company and didn't update anything on Aion at all, we had to sit back and watch other games from NCsoft get new and approved shiny things. That's one of the ways they messed up any small updated would of been appreciated. Aion could benefit from the PVP options like BnS if you had on PVP gear while questing. Maybe a new team dedicated just to Aion itself like GW2 would help a lot. I would apply to work there if I would be heard and could help out. Oh and when it does come out we need Buster Glad GM back for Asmos NA version

Hearing this news makes me sad. I've played Aion for years! Started in closed Beta. Seeing it fall so hard hurt. Hearing Aion 2 was coming I was happy. Then heard it was a mobile game... F NCSoft. But after hearing this... NCsoft, Please stop.

I don't have hopes for Aion 2. I loved Aion when it first came out, but by the time 3.0 dropped I was struggling to enjoy it. 4.0 was the nail in the coffin for me. When I look at what? 7.0? 8.0? It looks NOTHING like the mmo I once knew and loved.
Classic isn't even classic. It's a husk of what the original was. If there was a pserver that was just 1.5-1.9, i'd love to relive the nostalgia.

Aion had really good classes though, every class i played felt really fun tbh, i played sorc, spirit master and gladiator? The big weapon warrior one
Also mobile games arent bad because they are developed for mobile they are bad because of the horrible monetization tactics and restrictions, modern game devs/publishers are morons

Whoever is the project lead manager and those in other positions of development and changes all need released at NCsoft from NA, KR, every region and HQ. There is no ifs, no buts, this is a definite needing. I wouldn't be surprised at this point those in those positions of work are just spys and double agents working for other game companies wanting to take out a rival by making bad decisions. NA Aion is dead, 3.0 coming June 11th, 2024 with the new Brawler class is not going to revive a dead game, and especially if Aion 2 releases and is a primary mobile game, it's gonna be dead within a month and Aion 1 even more so. So what is NCsofts goal here? Release Aion 2, close the servers for Aion 1 or at least in the west? Then they are stuck with a dead Aion 2 game.
What needs to happen is either close the servers, remake Aion 2 as a PC game, or just close the retail live version and compensate players for switching to classic and just focus on their classic game from the ground up starting at 3.0. Bring back Tiamantra eye, make leveling more challenging , make manastone socketing not lose all your stones if you fail, reintroduce the gunner and song weaver and vandal and AT in 4.0 and bring katalam and danaria, update the game graphically, etc... With a live server and classic server the west will never see a decent population again, and as long the game stays easy like this and watered down, there won't be as much interest.

Classless?? No ty. I hate the idea that you can just....switch weapons and be a master of it in an instant. That you can be a mage with a ton of spells then grab a broadsword and be a master swordsman. Its stupid. If they do classless as in...allowing players to pick abilities as they level. Like putting points in healing...swordsmanship...dual wielding...spellcasting..etc. Than maybe itll be ok. But i doubt that will be what they are talking about. Theres a reason why classes have survived in mmorpgs for so long. Not to mention I dont trust NCSoft to handle a new game well.
Im currently downloading Aion classic....ill stick with that.
Or maybe go back to EQ2.

Tbh, I lost every hope in NC Soft already years ago. I just follow news such as from your channel from time to time and when games like this come out and they are trash, just skip it. If they seem interesting, I just give it a try, simple as that meanwhile.

Aion 2 is a mobile game first, and PC game second, which has been their strategy for Tera classic and many other MMOs following this trend and its disgusting, this will be another autoplay, money rip off version using the name for popularity and most likely in a pre-downloaded emulator
I have no faith that these older MMOs are having true successors, most of them are using the names of classic MMOs as cash grabs
