  • Getting rid of the stink bugs in your home may be a lot easier. Researchers at Virginia Tech found a homemade trap caught 14 times more bugs compared to store bought traps.

Michigander here and I'm desperate. I've tried peppermint and lavender oil with no success. Gonna have to try this out. It's insane how many I get in my house every single day. Its absolutely disgusting. I cant imagine how much water I waste everyday from flushing them. 😭

Been spraying peppermint oil around windows and doors and been gone so far... 🤞( got the light traps too) in case they return.

1:30... is he serious? I thought we had it bad here in SW Virginia. But I've never had to shovel them in bucket loads.

Honestly, its February 1st & we kill AT LEAST a dozen ea day on average, I don't even want to see what spring will bring! If it's anything like the last 10 years, we will be dealing with about 200 to 300 a day inside of the home. And they are devastating our apple trees.

@Dawn D - It's two months since your comment and we're midway into spring now. Can you update us on your current situation?

My first encounter with BMSB was a bucket half full of water, no soap left in the attic. I wondered what they were except they looked like the green or brown regular stinkbugs. A dozen got drowned. Now we have few and a I catch them in a puff of TP. Let the stinker come out enough to expose the head and break it back (green guts come out) then drop it in the stool, no need to flush. A stinkbug unable to think to stink therefore will not stink. For real madness catch one alive drop in the stool and pee on it, chemical war! Then flush twice, I have seen returns come up. I have a light-fan trap that gets all that flies. Bugs do not go thru fan so as not to hit stinkbugs and make them stink.
