Let's talk about Omega Speedmaster prices and how they have been crashing. Now would be a good time to purchase an Omega Speedmaster watch if you have been on the fence do to increased prices of the watches.
Yes COVID is over. Prices of used watches will return to lower than RRP like everything else. Then normal people will continue buying watches from shops , and idiots will stop making YT vids pretending watches are appreciating assets.
People only want what they cannot have..once anything becomes freely available nobody wants it ….when I bought my 16518 Daytona back in the day it sat in the AD window for several weeks freely available to anyone when I purchased it I was given a 15% discount being a bank holiday promotion.
I just left a comment on another post saying how I still have an email from my AD from 2016 offering me a Daytona as a massive discount. They couldn’t not give that watch away.
This is the same guy who said prices would stay high forever a few years ago.
EDIT: not three minutes in and he can’t help himself but to say he “can’t imagine” something going any lower. This guy is a one trick pony. Invested in the industry and cannot stop himself. Actually, maybe he already lost it all since he “sold his shares“.

I literally have emails from my AD from 2016 offering me a Daytona at discount. It was a dog they couldn’t get rid of. Now these “experts” who started collecting in 2019 act like Rolex has always been an investment.
He was also "out of the business" forever. But here we are lol

Most of the people here have never owned an Omega nor compared them to a Rolex side-by-side. If you did, you’d appreciate the craftsmanship and history. The quality, fit, and finish of the Omega speedmaster is on par with Rolex and in my opinion above Cartier. So many people taking sh*t and downplaying the value of the brand is comical. These are probably the same people who call a shitter Casio godtier and own a bunch or worthless watches with no resale value.
Silver Snoopy retails at $10,800. When they’re on Delray Watch et al for $9,999 I’ll call it a crash. Until then it’s hype dying off now that people are putting money in other places than “investment” watches.
Anyone can list their Silver Snoopy for an inflated price. Doesn’t mean it’ll sell at that price. Almost every single used watch price is tanking, at all price points.

Discontinued Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow GMT with Frédérique Pigiuet is selling at around $5.8k on the secondary market complete with papers and original box. That is a rare production run with ‘57 hands and GMT coaxial complications.
The hype for the new white dial speedy is already fading and they will continue to drop until below retail.
The problem about these watches, especially you buy them from private, they dont have warrinty anymore after 2 or 3 years. So you really need to be careful.
Also for me second hand prices of over 6k are still to high. You can get a brand new aqua terra with the usual 20% off for like 5k or even lower.
Dude, $ 15.000 is a real problem for me.
The Speedmaster is a kids toy...disappointing overhyped crap.

Yeah I picked up a Speedy Auto Date 2011 with box, cards and even swing tag for 2200, just serviced and comes with two year dealer warranty, not bad at all.
Omega Snoppy RRP is £10,000 , its currently being sold for £14,000 for a 2024 version. I still will not consider that a ''great deal''. Brands already make good profit on RRP so if the price drops to around $8,000 , then we are talking
I was keen on the silver snoopy but here in 🇨🇦 on Chrono 24 the asking price remains well beyond US$15K. So sad!
I find asking prices generally on Chrono ludicrous, and in CAD it’s worse. I’d love to know what they sell for.
They need to come down further....when secondhand watches are a % of a fair RRP, and Omega (and others) stops chasing secondhand prices I may buy.

Alaska Project prices have also come down. I’ve been eyeing them for a while and they’ve been >$20k for years until very recently. There’s one posted now from a well respected dealer for $15k. Going to give it some more time but prices are definitely coming back to earth.

The Silver Snoopy still retails for under $11k. If you pay $15k on the used market, you’re only paying to not wait for an allocation.

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MaMaCoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
I bought a watch from amzwatch lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.

Come asia, most people find it huge to wear a speedmaster . The price is actually slightly cheaper than what is quoted here and no one is really buying .

The prices haven’t tanked, they were overinflated to begin with and are still at a premium for where they should be.

I heard the Tin Tin was originally meant to be a full on Tin Tin Special Edition, but the collaboration fell through and they kept the red/white because it was not specifically trademarked.

The white and blue CK 2998 is one of the most underrated Speedmasters out there. Not sure how many are out there (could be a lot). Either way, love to get your thoughts on that as a collector and otherwise.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. MaMaCoo brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
My humble opinion?
I expect the "average" Speedy to reach the 2500/3000 mark soon.
I think that's more of a hope for you than reality.
I don't think you are reading the room my friend, people will be offloading watches as fast as possible in the next 12months.
Alot of people got into the hobby over the last few years, who aren't in it for the love of watches.
They either got into it for profit not love and if you haven't noticed people of all backgrounds are feeling the pinch, so I can see Alot of pieces being dumped on the market which drives the price down.

I believe that the prices are just starting to tank and the reason is that China government has started promoting “luxury shaming” leading to many people selling their luxury stuff including watches. The whole luxury market is tanking, see LVMH, Kering, Richmond, etc… all shares are down and it is just the start ☝🏽 This trend will necessarily affect the second hand market too 🤗
When it comes to fine imitation watches, amzwatch delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.

You chase trends rather easily. Chase for what you actually want in a watch yourself instead of what is popular.

Overpriced items are not luxury items. I was about to buy the 2024 speed master pro last year but then they released the swatch omega which looks similar, yes, much lower quality and the bracelet is different, but it just looks sooo similar!! That is when i changed my mind.
I bought my Speedy for 2990 Swiss francs back in the day. Enjoy your Defender time! Rarely has anyone ever wished at the end of their days that they had spent more time in the office.
Click bait headlines in the watch community is tiresome. It’s not crashing. It’s normalisation after Covid. Most of these are still over retail which for omega is strong. There was a time when you bought almost any watch and expect to lose 50% out the door regardless. Daytona being the exception.
crash in finance is >30% down from the high, less is correction and not from the value. so it s not a click bait the guy who buy at 45k and it s now 14k can feel the crash

I must agree that the current iteration of the Speedmaster is a good catch at around 5K or below. But this also shows what the actual market price of a "regular" Speedmaster is. IMHO it's just not worth 7K +

There’s a reason the hesalite is an option. It in no way detracts from the quality of the watch and if you think it does, go for the sapphire option.
@bootneck4514 That's kind of a ridiculous statement, honestly; sapphire is the only way to go. Hell, my mom cracked her acrylic crystal on her '76 Datejust when she accidentally smacked it on my elbow - vintage look be damned, I say.
@@dblh84 Subjective my friend. The hesalite is very popular as it’s truer to original. I prefer the look and had mine for over two years, without issue, easy to repair or replace. The watch is quality either way!

I wonder, does this mean either ADs will drop their prices, or be more willing to talk numbers? I'm in Canada and we don't really have a gray market here, but have been thinking of pulling the trigger on a 3861 Speedy Pro sapphire sandwitch in the next 12 or so months. If ADs are more willing to talk numbers, what is a "good" deal to try and get off percentage-wise from one of them?

In uk I was fixated on 20%, a year ago, and it took nearly an hour in a high street chain but walked out with a 3861 sapphire with that discount and that was then!
First told:
“We never give discounts like that, that’s impossible” blah blah. Back and forth with the “regional manager” on the telephone and bam they buckled with my card in my hand 😂

I don't think any brand can continue selling the same product, milking it dry for decades, while simultaneously trying to convince buyers that this largely unchanged watch is increasingly desirable. The Omega Speedmaster, has remained substantially the same for decades.
How long can we continue to be entertained by "It's the Moon watch!"?
It might be an unpopular opinion, but the world of Swiss watches is way too slow to evolve, a new colour dial on a decades old watch isn't exactly captivating. Not every brand is at fault, but some have yawn inducing ranges!

Ignore the modern crap! Vintage speedy pros are such a bargain right now. You can get some of the best references ever made for well under $10k, even $5k in some instances! Though we did have a really excellent result at Christie’s for an 18k 145.022-69😎
Solid my 3861 2021 Speedy last year to get my two time 35mm Santos. I regret it every day since. Not because of the Santos just in general. There is no better watch for the money period. That's objective and not subjective.

The Cartier Santos is a respectable watch. They have the most advanced bracelets on the market. It’s a watch recognizable in any room and commands respect. The history on the Santos runs deep. A true icon watch.

Omegas are not collectable, it is just that simple. All of the limited number of mass produced watches like many of the watches you feature will not appreciate. That said, they make high quality wearable watches.
Sales for the whole Swatch Group, omega is part of, are belly up theses days… The shelves are full at Omega ADs. Omega watches are just not worth list price.
