  • On this vlog we go to the scene of a working condo fire with a victim trapped and rescued in Arapahoe County and to a fully engulfed barn in rural Douglas County. We also go behind the scenes at SMFR's Staff and Citizen Academy's with live fire demonstrations, take a sneak peak at the new Collapse 45 and give patch shout-outs.

    Eric, This is a great episode. I was a volunteer at Rattlesnake Fire from 1989 to 2000 and career at Elizabeth from 1998 to 2012, worked with your dad. Over 23 years I ran lots of calls with Parker/South Met, you do an awesome job representing the Fire Service, South Metro and your family. Take care, be safe.

    Nothing like a tour of a fire burning inside a building. I am sure this was a great experience for the civilians and your staff as well. This is a great way to learn some of the thing fire fighters go through while trying to protect us. Nice Back Draft, that set everybody back on their heels, they won't soon forget that. Very good demos of structure fires and victim search and rescue. More fire department could benefit from such a good outreach. Great video. I think that is great the amount of patch exchange going on worldwide.

      @@lukeamos9495 yes but with interviews I feel that if agency's that have a amazing pio program could show some of there major incidents or unusual incidents it would help get agency's that might not have a sop in place rather its a fuel tanker rollover or a train derailment or even something as simple as a pileup on the interstate if it could get the spark for other agency's to get more sop's/preplans in place I feel it would be worth it.

    With all of the developments completed, in progress, and planned for the areas south of Lincoln Ave and east of I-25, I am curious if there are plans of adding another small engine/medic station in that area as the Lone Tree city center and the neighboring developments are completed. I think #48 is next, if I’m not mistaken. Maybe near Hess/Heirloom, for example. It will be a few years down the road, I’m sure. But curious if there may be plans.

    Watched this video back when it was posted and I happen to live in downtown Denver down the street from Station 1 where they keep their collapse rescue, and water rescue. I guess these specialized units rarely have calls. I was just wondering though for South Metro what is the average number of calls per year that the Collapse Rescue receives. Great video as always. Just wondering why Denver did not take over fire protection for that area where 21 is located now. Seems like a more logical choice due to location. Does Denver respond with 21 on initial dispatch or only when requested by the Battalion Chief or District Chief of SMFR?

    • @lindahoff7391
      @lindahoff7391 Před 3 lety

      @@NAVYMEDIC610 South Metro has always had a close working relationship with Cunningham. Cunningham Fire is in Arapahoe County so the likely hood of the City of Denver annexing or contracting with another county for fir protection was probably not going to happen. I also believe that Cunningham encompassed the City of Foxfield and parts of the Cityy of Centennial, also complicating the situation. Best I can remember anyway.

You should consider places to display things in other places in the HQ building in display cabinets and walls through out the HQ building. You still need space in your office to do a lot of your PIO duties that is office related. Good Video as usual. I also would like to know about the victim from the first featured fire in this vlog.

      It is a system called PROQA, it is a Computer Aided Dispatch system that many fire departments use including mine. Anytime the dispatcher updates information, or assigns a new incident, it will make noise, it can also be used for GPS Navigation turn by turn directions. It will say "New pending Incident", or "your incident has been Updated"

    Have you tried to do tanker relays? No need to move vehicle to move the water. Leave a pumper at the hydrant who pumps it to the next pumper who pumps it to the next pumper. The water moves not the vehicles. You can do this for miles and miles.

    • @lindahoff7391

But there are more older people 15+ who do that better and are more mature that you can trust for good information. It is filming responses to scenes by emergency vehicles at the bare minimum. People like Nate who is mentioned in the video, film responses to calls and photograph and videograph fire or other scenes, Nate is super good at what he does.
