The Aratar | The High Ones of Arda

With the Ainur who descended into Arda being divided into the Valar and the Maiar, why did Tolkien place many of the Valar into another group called the Aratar? I explain the distinction, sharing my thoughts on each figure and the role of the Aratar in the world.
