Definitely, the feeling for me of dropping arms to initiate the downswing as opposed to shifting weight has had an immense impact on ball striking, it prevents me from sliding and allows my hands to get in front of the body.

  • @claudiochisani4120

Adam thank you very much. I struggled many rounds with hooking/ snap hooking the ball, just realized that it may be due to the fact that right arm was not unfolding in time and coming into impact high, over the top with a closed face, worst type of shot. The body keeps rotating but if arms don't lower, there is a serious issue with direction control. If the body does not rotate properly and right arm unfolds, the dreaded hit behind the ball is the result. Since watching your video, I am working on the blending of the body rotation and the right arm unfold (dynamic, as you mentioned). Can't wait to try it on the course, appreciate the expert video!

I recently purchased the Dewiz and it confirmed what I had long known, I have an over the top swing. I've watched loads of videos and it's not helped at all. Until I found this one. This is the first time I've ever been able to say this about a golf tutorial but this advice is game changing. Baby draws with all clubs, mostly straight (some small hooks) and about 10% longer with every club. And that's only the first session! I know I babe a lot more to do because it has only partially fixed the over the top swing according to my Dewiz.

IMO, Adam's way of explanation is the best I have ever seen. He keeps it 'real'...allowing you to incorporate the concept rather than the specific technique into your game. My swing is an eclectic mix of Gary Edwin, Freddie Couples, Bryson de Chambeau and remnants of Jim Furyk. I am striking the ball better today than I did when I played seriously, thanks to the simplicity that Adam brings. Thanks for all the content mate!

This video plus the driver video hitting from the inside are great. I’ve used Mike Austin swing for several years and at 71 years old I play blues and the whites and usually break 80. But after getting the 7 iron lag club last week and struggled through practice with it some light bulbs went on and especially with wedges. I ordered the Lag driver wedge combo yesterday. My buddies are ordering them also. It works and even though there’s a money back 30 day deal. I’m keeping mine. Thanks Adam.

Brilliant golf instructional video Bazalgette! Two years ago, I first watched & liked this CZcams video and recently watched again with the light bulb in my brain shining like a disco ball! At top of my backswing with wrists cocked I make a conscientious effort to thrust my right elbow toward my waist then let the clubface drop vigorously which leads my body to subconsciously follow through the entire swing. This has improved my ball striking to the point I often get accused of being a good golfer! You're a genius golf maestro Adam!!

Amazing. I finally get it. Amazing results. Hinging the club head up to the top with my left wrist, soft folding right arm, and of course shoulders rotate down too. Unfolding the right arm forcefully from the top, soft left hand. The body responds naturally. And, allowing the body to square the club face up by getting the left shoulder back out of the way. Everything opens to the target. Everything that’s in motion stays in motion. I just tell myself left, right, left.

Your additonal point of the slot occurring at pants level is another eye opener versus attempting to drop the shaft way behind the torso at the start of the downswing. thanks again.

Thanks, Adam - I've been playing on and off for a number of years and suffered from the dreaded 'over the top' - exactly as you describe in attacking the ball and using power through shoulders and arms to slash across. It's so hard to get out of the habit after doing it wrong for such a long time but lessons like this and the 'Full Swing Master Series' I bought a while back are great reference points to help along this journey; great fundamentals!

Adam, Thank you. It has been three years since you posted this video and I wish I had seen it three years ago! All I have to do to flush my shots is think about the hammer move and properly load my hands without tension and then hammer down. It's about the hammer move. This is one very, very good video. I saw my swing on a launch monitor video today and, of course, wasn’t pleased as I watched that club moving too “out” on the way down, being carried outward by my turn. Although I’m a very straight hitter, it’s clearly affecting my angle of attack and costing me clubhead speed. I will be trying this drill today.

Great lesson, took the instructions to the range and have never had such powerful ball striking, I’m playing golf this evening and don’t think the other guys have a chance !
The last chipping lesson brought me a 75 I’m excited to see how this move will work out.

I'd work on closing the club face during the downswing. Hope it helps.

So I just got done watching this video and went out into my backyard to try it out (straightening my trail arm a little sooner than normal). Its funny to say how much of a difference I saw from the video I took today from last week. Headed to the driving range now to give it a real hit.

Great video! I think the secret to this move is where Adam mentions that your shoulders need to be turned when you drop the hands. You need to drop the hands when you are at full shoulder turn.

    Breaking a table top!!!!
Seriously!!!! Yesterday I was ready to give up gold after playing for 30 years cause I kept topping the ball or hitting it far…. And today I’m just hitting it flush. Amazing tip !!!! Changed my life. Thank you sir. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻

I also have had several years of over the top I started doing this drill at the first of the year its the only drill I have ever done out of 100"s that has ever worked !!!!!!!!!!!!I have not been able to hit a 3 wood for years now I am crushing it!!!!! I use to try to hit the ball now I concentrate on hammering the club behind me unfolding my arms I don't even have to think about the ball when I do this it puts me in the slot and the ball explodes out!!!!!!!!if your over the top this is the only fix!!!!!!!!!

Scratch Golf Academy thanks Adam! You’re teachings are easy, simple and place so much on fundamentals it has truly improved my game. I played baseball from the time I was 7, I’m 35 now so everything mechanically is natural just took time to adjust accordingly! Be blessed!
