- Today Jim is headed out for a wild ride with Bill!! Bill, one of our Belgian horses, has a lot of energy so Jim heads out with the stone boat to get out some of his energy! Whipping around on the stone boat is Jim's idea of "fun on the farm". :) We also start work on fixing up a one horse sleigh for exercising one horse and we reminisce about a sleigh we used to have with a wood stove inside!

He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

You could have FUN with a Mountain Board! It's like a snowboard for off season messing around! Bill looks like he was having a bit of fun, too here!
In a world that is upside down you guys are like a breath of fresh air, thanks
Thanks for watching
Well said, Ted Andress! I was just thinking the same thing.
Bill looked like a kid at the playground. So much fun.🤣
He definitely had a wild ride. Looks fun except when Bill started going to fast.
Dashing through the snow, in a one horse flat stone boat O'er the fields you flew, shouting "Gee and Haw" all the way... No bells on bob tails rang, but you made Bill's spirit bright
What fun you gave to all who watched, we swear it was our delight.......
That’s so cute!
haha, very nice!
So many good comments, so I just have to repeat one - Thanks for letting us ride around with you, Jim! You are a bit of a daredevil, but as others have said, you obviously know what you're doing. You deserve the fun! Loved the vintage photos, Brenda!
Glad you enjoyed it
See Bill
See Bill Run
Run Bill Run
Run Run Run
haha
I can't see how anyone can say what you are doing is stupid you definitely know your horses and your equipment keep up the great work really enjoy the content 👍
Sometimes ya just gotta have fun! Go, Jim & Bill!!
Ha Who needs a sliding hill when you have Bill
Bill looked like he could and would have done a second lap around the field.
Jim, could he have done another lap?
definately
I thought you were going to take out some fence posts on that first turn. That looked like a lot of fun. He needed to be pulling a load of logs to wear him out!
@@mervjb809 Sometimes ya just gotta run and have fun! Big horses like to have fun especially when the boss joins them!-)
Jim: "Careful step"
Bill: "Ah yes, canter you mean" :D
Hahahaha,,we love this one watched it 4 times,,,great for the archives
Ole Bill's a goer, isn't he? I think he had more fun than you did!
It's nice to see a horse that loves to burn off energy.
Too bad we couldn't see Jim's face too!
Had a great time with this one. Watching Bill lean into those curves was quite a thrill. Did something I've never done before, went back and watched it again right away! lol
I remember going to school in a slay in the winter and we had big rocks to keep us worm in Saskatchewan when I started school around 1946 and we had a horse barn at school for the horses
This is what Jim really does during the day....YOU AIN'T FOOLING NO ONE JIM....I see that WORN DOWN GRASS around the edge of the woods from your sled (Start 3:24 ).....we know what you really do all day 💪😁👍
Yes, I spend my day just running around the fields haha
Bill really enjoys a good workout, I am impressed by how fast he is, looks like great fun
Dashing thru the snow in a one horse open sliegh oe'r the fields we go going all the way!!!!! Lol looked like you were having fun Jim.
Jim I would patronize you if you would ever talk friendly like to your horse while they are working when you stop for a break - talk to your horse for Gods sake -? And while you are taking the tack off the horse, tell him he did a good job - you are such a jerk - very little talk to your wife either - you don’t deserve a horse or your wife! Ugh who would want to spend any time with you especially you horses / I’ve mentioned this to you before quite a while ago and I see you are still a dud . Find something to get happy about when with your wonderful horses ! You are
B o r I n g to watch !
From Georgia 🍑
Gives a whole new meaning to snowboarding LOL 😆
Maybe "snowboating" since it's a stone boat.😄
Now there's an idea. Or skis, that is called skiooring, in Scandinavia.
Jim, this is a hoot to watch, loved it !!!! We rescued a sled dog that retired; he was the wheel dog, the muscles that got the weight of the sled moving so the team could get going. He kept growing & got to 120 lbs trim. The owner put him in weight pull competition; a true working dog. So when we rescued him from his retirement we learned how to hook up his harness to a rimless tire to walk him; to slow him down. One day a young teen age boy wanted Kanook to pull his soap box derby type car his dad had built, kid said," Can he pull me in this"? My husband said, "Can you hold on"? " Sure I can". Kanook was eager for the excitement but something on wheels was just too easy; our subdivision was shaped on a 2 mile circle. The last thing we heard was a boy screaming in fear as Kanook rounded the corner & the kids car bounced over the curbs for the mile or so. It was hilarious, the kid remained upright & in the seat but was bugged eyed in fear !!! Never asked again for a ride. Kanook had a huge smile, still ready to go again!!! Your ride here reminded me of it, except you're standing up ? Good job & good set of muscles there guy!!!
Gail, loved your story! Love those dawgs!
Well, Jim, you made my face hurt a bit with a happy smile. I'm sure your face was smiling the whole time you were being Ben Hur. All work and no play ...... can't happen with horses around. Thanks for the fun.
Glad you enjoyed it
Bill is feeling his oats today! 😍
Pretty impressive how well behaved manners he listens to you better than my kids did to me when they were little lol enjoy your videos immensely
Yes, speaking of a sleigh with (caboose) on it as we called it and a little wood stove in it, that was our only means of travel in the winter when I was growing up in the late 50' and early 60's. Our roads weren't snowplowed in the winter back then as they are now so we had to travel with horses all winter. Wish I had a picture of our caboose , but don't think I have one. Oh, and by the way, I grew up way north in Saskatchewan, Canada where our winters are obviously a lot longer than where you live. Enjoy your videos.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for letting us ride along with you, keep it up.
Really enjoy my daily visit with Brenda an Jim
This exercise is for the benefit of the Bill first. He is an athlete. He needs to run. And if Jim is enjoying it, so much the better. Thank you Jim and your family. My dad would have liked these videos. He was where you are now in the twenties.
This Jim Gordon doesn't need a Batman he's got six beautiful horses that do his bidding with just a wink an a nod and a whisper to them as fast as bill took him on this wild Ride so much fun was had by all including the viewers what a hoot
Wow! Bill can really move!!! ♥️
He sure has lots of get up and go!
An a fun time was had by all have a day love from TEXAS
what a beautiful powerful animal ,way to go bill
Loved the old pictures of the sleigh and stove, chuckled at the thought of today’s Health and Safety culture and how much risk assessment documentation you would have to complete!! Looked real fun galloping around the field with Bill, he was having a good time! Thanks for sharing! X
Yes you are right about all the health and safety culture, don't think they would give a thumbs up to it😉
Jim alot of people may think you nuts ,but they ain't never had that kind of fun ,it brings back great old memories for me ,a team like Bill is my favorite memory but Clydesdale mares ,my eyes starting to run , great video
Horses are amazing animals!!! Jim's horses are in great shape too!!!
Boy he's beautiful when he runs.
Looks like Bill is training for the Kentucky Derby 😳. Pulling a stone boat on snow that fast shows just how good Jim is at working horses 🐎. Thanks 😊 .
Wow, that was fun, but I fell off!!
I clearly heard Bill say, "What, done already?! I can go 2, 3, 10 more circuits!!!". Stove was cute and I'm sure fun but really glad you stopped using it. ☺️👍❤️
Oh my goodness! That looks like so much fun! 😃. Bill’s little ears were straight up. Hahaha. Can’t wait to see the sled when you’re done. I agree, it is a cute Christmas sleigh.
Yee haw!!!
If anyone else was doing that with this set up, I’d be cringing. But Jim knows what he is doing and knows how to handle it. He’s an expert!!
Fun to watch but hard to figure out who had more fun! Thanks for sharing kids lol.
I do believe Bill and Jim enjoyed the ride so did I thanks. ❤️🇺🇸
The sounds of a house in "rythyme" is just warming to the ears!! Love it, thanks for sharing!
Lol Jim you have to have Springs in your legs to keep from being bounced off the sled but Bill sure did have fun and got some exercise at the same time !
Bill is quite energetic, he is quick enough to give your neighbor's buggy horse quite a trotter race. Dog sleds don't use shafts either but the driver's position allows for a foot operated, spring loaded, brake with a claw, to grab the packed snow.
Nice to see pictures of years ago.I think the world would be better if we went back a 100 years.
maybe so
Now that looks like a fun farm job.
That looks like a blast. 😁
Thanks Jim. Is BIll a trotter or a pacer? HA HA HA
@ 2:40 I was leaning hard to the right in my chair. Otherwise I thought the ride was a Hoot! You Go Jim!!!
Haha, interactive watching
This is what you should be doing with Ken. Let him do a little run, then some trotting. This isn't stupid, this is giving them exercise and in the winter months, they need this just like we do. Cheers :)
Nice Jim,
this is truly one of the joys of keeping horses. The partnership, trust and Fun.
Looks like Bill needed to get out of the house.
😊looks like fun!
The Howell Living History Farm near Lambertville, NJ. restored the old horse-drawn school bus for the school by the farm.
We used to take a ride in my uncle's "Caboose". Where the name originated is anyone's guess, but, in Canada, we called the last car on steam trains a Caboose.
The sleigh used the frontbob of a large bobsled to carry the whole upper cabin, with space for about 6 adults. The units were also used as school busses, but, rarely. Most farmers who lived of their farms all year had their own caboose. The stove was factory-made, and burned coal briquets or raw coal.
I really enjoy your channel...of course, I've said that before.
That's looks exhilarating and terrifying at the same time 🙃. I used to hook a pony I grew up riding to a sled and drive him all around the fields. It was great fun zipping through the snow and jumping small ruts. Your boy has a much better stop than the pony did -- although he had a wicked sense of humor and stopped short on several occasions and deposited me directly under his tail.
Haha, thanks for sharing the memories
YeeHaw! That was Awesome! Drone shots would of been bonus!
Your videos are the highlight of my day...I can relate to many of the things you do on the farm👋
Omg jim that brings back memories of us boys hitching up dads horses to car hoods that we took of from cars, we used to race them around the field, that was to much fun, of course we didn’t tell dad about racing them till we got a little older lol nice video Jim happy holidays to you and your family
Yes Ike, I can imagine you doing that, I think you are a little older then me, but I think you would still do that today. Why not throw one of your horses into your trailer and come here and we'll have a race.
To cool thanks I think that's genius to do since people are making old buses into camper homes 👍
Look Brenda look, see Bill Go. See Jim whoah! That was a fast farm tour. Enjoy the new sleigh. Weekend blessings and keep warm.
Thanks, you too
He such a good horse!!! He just lives in Bill World!! I love his spirit…Thanks for sharing one on one with dear Billy!!! We need one of these with each horse❣️😉☮️❣️
Bill moved out so free and easy.. his gate is real smooth for such a big animal. I could see myself putting him under saddle and actually enjoying the ride. That doesn't happen often with draft horses. You guys always brighten my day thanks for the content.
Wow! that was fun! like few others I thought for sure you were going to nail that fence on that one turn. It is nice to see a horse so well trained to all your voice commands. I've notice that now for allmost a year now of watching your videos. if not longer. All your horses listen good. and the other thing I've noticed is Jim allmost never raises his voice. he is normally soft spoken and they listen good. Good thing Bill is not hard of hearing ha ha. or Jim would still be out there going round in circles NOT! thanks again for a really enjoyable run I liked that. and am sure a lot of other people did too. and great on the little sleigh can't wait to see what you build and when its' done. thanks so much for sharing. God Bless. ECF
Yes , I don't know how he dodged that fence post but that was a smooth move.. ah ha, wow, loogout.
! How exciting for you and Bill - you're a great team.
❤️Love to watch Bill run. Beautiful!!❤️
Yes, it is beautiful to see
Looked like Bill enjoyed your little ride better then you did... Looked fun... All he wanted to do is go and please you... Your so blessed with all of your horse's.
Hi Ron, yes we are blessed with our horses
That was pretty nifty! Enjoyed the trip down Memory Lane 💕🐎
Awesome video, reminds me of the sled dad build and had a pony to pull it. Lot of fun, good memories .
God Bless
Bill certainly feels good
Fooey on anyone who says you shouldn't do this! What's life without a little fun!
Zero to holey cow in 3 seconds. loved the ride, thanks Bill and Jim.
Haha
I'm thinking Jim is an adrenaline junkie! LOL Loved the heated sleigh, must have been a blast!
That looked like Bill was having a good time giving you an exciting ride, stay safe, and thank you all for the enjoyable entertainment.
Hi John ! Hope you and Jane are doing well!
With as big as drafts are, and as much as you see them chugging along, you sort of forget they have a giddy up mode. Looked like he was having a good time.
I'm 86 now, and I recall riding in one of the "school bus sleighs" as winter transport to go shopping n Saturday evenings, In those days, we called such a sleigh a caboose. Ours had a small charcoal stove to keep warm on those cold Saskatchewan winters.
Thanks for the memories! Love your show!
LOL! Jim, we grew up on two different ends of the country, but if we had been neighbors, we'd a had a lot of fun. That little romp with Bill looked like a kick. I was never put off by a little bit of danger. We used to sled in the horse pasture below our house which had a barbed wire fence at the bottom. We used to get up near the fence and lay down to scoot underneath. No one ever got hurt but our moms were plenty peeved with us.
sounds fun! Moms will be moms!
Bill is feelin' his Oats! 🙂👍🙏
My mother went to school in a horse drawn bus.
Oh my goodness, this is a fabulous video, what a horse ... what a beautiful horse....he's worth his weight in gold.He definitely enjoyed his run and never broke into a sweat,or was he panting for breath...that's a fit horse.Jim he would definitely thank you for this, as you could see he just wanted to go on and on AND faster. What a joy 😳😁 l love you ❣ William x When he was drinking he looked up at Buck and said .... did you see me go,that felt soooo good.l shall watch this again and again, thankyou Jim.As for the rest of the video absolutely loved the old photos and did Brenda say you made that covered in bus that your two horses were pulling, now that was fantastic, more to Jim then meets the eye.....can't wait to see the new slay restored 😀 All the very best dear friends 🌱🌱🌱💕👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow ! Such an amazing horse, Bill, excellent puller, obedient, works great, he's most definatelly my favourite out of the 2 currently working pairs (others are also amazing and allround really great but he's just my favourite from videos). My neighbor had a (Serbian coldblood) draft stallion with similar karisma, I just loved taking him for a drive, both as a single and in pair with his workmate, he used them in pulling competitions 5 and 6 years old stallions at the time (1650lbs and 1700 lbs), such graceful, powerful horses. All the best to you !
How do you stay standing Jim! Amazing horsemanship and balance! I really respect your way of doing things having grown up with horses myself.
COOL ride with JIM END BILL. 👍👍😁💪
Great vlog. You work so hard, it’s nice to see you having fun.
Holy smokes that looks so fun pulling kids on skis would be super fun
Hahahaha 🎶 we're stiill laughing..yeeeha,,,the best fun ever....Bill sure was thirsty,,,good fun making your cart with heat....can't wait
We still love this,,,best of the year's highlights....
Hey there Jim, I hope you're well.
I had the ideal situation when I had horses, even though I had the roomiest and most comfortable stalls known to man and horse, my stalls opened up to a very nice 2 acre paddock, with nothing but regularly mowed grass, and I usually left their stall doors open, so they could come and go as they pleased.
I soon learned that they preferred being outside, even when it was raining or snowing.
They know more about what they like and dislike than we do. 🐎👍🇺🇸
JIm you could probably take up surfing pretty easy. LOL
Glad to see Jim having some fun. It was good for Bill also
I’m forever amazed by the strength of the these beautiful horses an your relationship partnership it’s a beautiful
My hands got sweaty watching. Need a step on brake attached like they have on dog sleds. Lol.
Great times with a well trained horse.
Happy horse!!! 👏❤
The 1st photo was taken in Presque Isle Maine..Main Street.not sure of the year but my grandmother worked at that j j Newberry .department store
How wonderful!!
Not stupid at all Jim fun and you can tell Bill was loving it. As my Grandfather used to say feeling there oats today.
An oldie but a goody. This 2 year old video was a fun pop up!
What a beautiful video of Bill running through the fields. He is loving getting out to run. Great job, Jim. Love it!!
will your little sled be appropriate for working the colts as well? Bill....well, GO BABY!!!! :)
absolutely
Jim is a daredevil! It totally looked fun , the wild ride with Bill and he really enjoyed it. Brenda you will have to paint your new old sled red for Christmas.
This looked like the absolute best time so fun and good for him at the same time.💚
It was fun
Wow Bill an really move!!! Love the pic's of past sled. Love every video!!!
