- We finally took our AMC Javelin project to the track and uncovered some suspension issues we needed to sort out. So we took the car over to the fine folks at QA1 Motorsports to get their help with the setup and also to find out what this old racecar weighs! Follow along as we add another chapter to the story of Rob Wess, John Dover and Tony Mancusi...helping them see their dream become a reality.

Getting work done with qa1
Yes sir!
the Javelin SST Power to Weight Ratio is astronomical!!
That's so cool the guys at QA1 took your car in and helped you out like that. When I switched from single adjustable rear shocks to double adjustable, I unfortunately had the wrong guy answer the phone when I was struggling to find a good base setting for them. The guy that answered the phone had even less clue than I did where to start. He said he would have their drag racing expert call me back. That was two years ago and I'm still waiting for the call. LOL Seriously though, the double adjustables were one of the best upgrades I have done to the car in quite awhile, after I figured out what the car wanted. I run more tire pressure now than ever, the sixties are consistent as well as quicker than before. Iron headed small block Ford, NA, 2900 lbs with driver, powerglide, and it's been 1.25 sixty foot.
Always like a good burnout! Thank you, sir!!!!!
I know exactly where QA1 is at. It was great to talk to your dad at the Senoia Car show.
Good talking to you too John!
@@OldTimeRevivalcan't wait to see you at a car show someday
great update! Always like to learn new things about suspension workings.
Duuuuude u never stopped smiling... the whole vid!!!!👍👍
Your car takes me back to the days when I was dragracing it is the coolest car I’ve ever seen for that era
I love me some AMC content. That’s what got me to subscribe to your channel. That Javelin is beautiful. Can’t wait for it to hit 8 seconds
My first car was a red 70 javelin.. want it back
❤ this content. Science and math rule the road.
Great job. The car is coming along nicely 👍👍
Nice video! QA1 has an awesome facility and amazing people!
Way nice looking good 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Lots to enjoy here!!!!
I love those last Gen Javelins......so much I own a restored 73 in BBO!!
I run QA1 coil overs on my 1923 Ford street rod.
Pinto has strut fronts, yours is Mustang II for sure....I run same set up on my 46 Ford Super DeLux coupe. It drives like a nice modern car.
Thx
Mine was a 390 4sp
Pozy
that was cool saw it when I pulled in to work that day. didn't get to look to close but man that thing does look sweet.
Scion is fast and sounds mean. But she can't touch the beauty of the Javelin. Even after all those decades, that paint and body just work. Color lines and all are just perfect. And that scoop - 👍👍
Key words decades this Jew is putting the thorn's on Jesus he's not for this place
great stuff thanks
Welcome back mate! I hope all has been well
💪🔥🔊🔥
2450# is 427 Cobra territory! Good place to be. 😁
Great video! Enjoyed the tune on the suspension. Hope it handles the way you want. Sure it was not inexpensive. Thanks for sharing.
💯👍👊
I think many years gone by and many cars
its crazy how light that thing is! should be nasty with a turbo'd modern engine one day
Cool 😎. 2480 pounds is light 😊. My Javelin is 3435 with me in it when I scaled the car and I’m 245 pounds .
Javelins are pretty light. My ‘73 with a full interior and everything is 3160 lbs.
You need more thumbtacks for your truck's headliner.
😂
True story. My dirtrack car. I would repaint my water pump different colors. To find who cries tech at track. I told a particular competitor who said we were friends that my cheater engine had a black water pump. Sure enough, I win race and get big teardown tech with protest. By him! Lol. He saw black pump and protested (I rattle canned my orange pump black). Never a different engine. And always played games with competitors. And after that tech left me alone - so then I could play games. Lmao so yes paint your springs different colors like he said. Lol
To clarify, the only Secret Sauce settings are the ones the car tells you it wants after the initial guess settings and taking video of how the car reacts. Honestly, I can't cook anything outside of breakfast burritos.
👍
Hmm. Maybe you should buy a roll back trailer and never use ramps again. And your car is fantastic. I live near there but never been there.
I thought Kevin from JYD said QA1 was from Iowa.. I guess my shitty memory these days must be confusing them with a rear end shop or something. Damn it! I'm not THAT OLD! I'm only 38! (as of the 21st of Oct) I'd love to take a BRZ/F86? and put a Toyota 5.7L V8 in it. I don't know why they've never thought of making their V8 a performance engine.
May I download your idle as my ringtone??? Goodness what a tone. Snap crackle pop. Better than rice krispies cereal sound
Haha it does sound glorious. You’re more than welcome to do just that 👍🏼
@SallysSpeedShop my neighbor 2 houses up block, his parents owned a dealership. He had the javelin, purple with white stripes. 401 engine, console shifter, full gauges, had it all. His brother was chp. Dale said with gearing (I think 2.90 ish posi, definitely a twin grip) he said 145mph with power to spare (but revved out). He special orderrd freeway gearing because he commuted. At the time I was 10. Now I'm 55. What a car to drool over as a young car crazy kid
Lol, I guessed it at 2400 lbs. I was only 80 off.
she stole my guess of 3k
For the sake of the camera and the lighting you should have just put the car on a lift like Jay Lenno does. This video could have been a lot better than it turned out.
Their other cars were on the lifts for different projects. We worked with what we could 👍🏼 Thanks for watching!
