Something that seemed pretty straightforward as to why akaza can't beat douma is because akazas technique senses killing intent. Douma doesn't have any genuine emotions, so akazas technique is automatically nerfed, so it comes to hand to hand. Doumas reflexes seem to be faster than akaza's naturally, so it's already in his favor. Then douma can make ice clones that are just as strong as him and akaza cant sense any of them either, so it's a wrap

Nah It’s cause he doesn’t eat women while Doma does. I forget who explains it and when but they say women has more nutritional value than men for demons; Akaza refuses to eat women cause of his past while Doma enjoys it and goes out of his way to find them.

It's been mentioned, since Douma is a sociopath, he really does not have a "fighting spirit" which nerfs his compass needle. Also, Akaza puts restrictions on his diet. Since he won't eat women, as stated by Douma as being "highly nutritious", he did not develop on the same level.

Not only that but Douma is implied to eat women most of the time so it's not a surprise he managed to outgrow Akaza in a shorter time. If their habits were reversed I'm pretty sure Akaza could clap Douma.

If anybody watched the new ep on the swordsmith village arc where the UM’s meet. Douma said that Akaza’s punch was a little harder than last time and the last time they met as a group was over 100 years or something. I think I should mention that. And he also said that he deliberately didn’t evade Akaza’s punch. So take it how you wanna take it, Doma stomps hard for some of you in the comments/community.
Douma easily wins. He has more of Muzan's blood, Akaza's bda doesn't completey work on him, and that punch thing was said by Douma to increase there friendship. Doum just doesn't like to fight.

Doma was teasing Akaza by mentioning that he put a woman’s head in a vase, he knows Akaza doesn’t eat women and tries to subtlety poke fun at it, that’s why Akaza got mad.

Akaza loses against douma because of one simple reason, it's not strength, power, or speed but simple range and area of attack. Douma is a ranged fighter that spreads his attack in a wide range, while he's also able to summon statues and clones to fight for him. Akaza relies solely on his own strength, speed and perception, while admirable, in a fight against douma he's instantly outnumbered and put at a disadvantage as he mostly uses his fists, sure he has a few ranged attacks but they aren't nearly as effective as doumas. Even if they were the same with base stats, strength, and speed, douma STILL has the advantage by a decently wide margin, not to mention we've never seen douma take a fight seriously, the fight against the kocho sisters ft inosuke was a fight he didn't take seriously until the end when he realized he was actually gonna die. As much as I love Akaza it's pretty obvious douma would best him.

@@ponhrithsambo5143 you're 100% right but there're always those people who say "Akaza wins if they had the same strength and speed, douma is weak" which is simply not true, douma is upper moon 2 for a reason. Even at the bare minimum with them being at the same strength or even douma being weaker it makes no sense to think Akaza would "wipe the floor" with douma, it is extremely asinine, and I'm 100% sure those people saying that are the same people who powerscale other anime and rate characters depending on how strong they are. Douma holds a significant advantage from his ranged fighting style alone, done, there's no need to argue about strength, speed, muzan blood, etc. Hell Kokushibou has this same advantage with his growing sword, but his strength can also be attributes to him using a breathing style.

@@dontawilliams8433est we have is him stealing Kanao's sword and Inosuke's helmet. Wasn't perceivable. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Akaza has done anything similar (Nor as intricate) as that. They're both absolutely fast but between the two of them, Doma may actually take it.
Imagine him getting serious *before* the poison takes effect and pulling moves like that which nobody could see.

I mean the upper moons are ranked in different numbers for a reason so there's no reason to compare just look at the tanks and you can tell ok who would win in a fight like Akaza is upper moon three and doma is upper moon 2 so doma is obviously more stronger meaning he wins in a fight. Gyokko is upper moon 5 and gyutaro is upper moon 6. Gyokko will win. I don't think people realize that muzan didn't just pick random people for random numbers.

Douma is not just powerful for that so easily, he's smart and manipulative.....his own charismatic and joyful aura makes people get attracted.
His Cult is more like a human farm where he can feed and his supply of food never is empty.
Douma works as a Cult Leader and has good relationship with many humans with money

Second HE IS NEUTRAL he eats both man and women but prefers women since there more nutrients. You could argue akaza had a way stronger body than him which he did.
Douma rly got plot armoured on the entire story. Like, kokushibo and akaza got taken out with grace while douma was just like "damn shawty, tryna kill me?" And toying around. Probably because if he tried, aint no wya three supporting cast of the supporting cast could kill him xD
I think one of the coolest things about Demon Slayer as a series overall is just how straightforward it is. Its not deep or complex, and it isn't my favorite shonen by a long shot, but it does what it wants effectively and never over-lived its welcome. As a result of its simplicity though I think there isn't that much room to speculate on power rankings. Its very straightforward, and very much directly stated by the author.
Muzan, originator of demons, most powerful by far. Yoriichi one shots him with power the main character tries to obtain through the entire series. Muzan makes a hierarchical system of demons ranked by power and seniority. And the strongest demon slayer alive is known as they are said to be the strongest.
So really the only area of speculation is in the fringes between the mid and lower ranked Hashira and how they would rank against each other, but regardless they are all about even except for the upper ranks. So the scaling is very nice in Demon slayer overall.

Akaza’s BDA is honestly pretty good.
His compass needle is basically See through world but better. he can anticipate moves without even looking he just senses an intent and he immediately reacts with a counter or aims for vital points always.. his attacks pierce through any openings and his shockwave like punches make it hard for humans to fight him because he holds so much force behind them enough to make tanjiro cough up blood even tho he had blocked it.. Every upper rank has a BDA that suits them. And Akaza’s BDA make him a nightmare to fight if you have Fighting spirt
no I don’t think it’s better than the see through world considering what tanjiro did (vague to avoid spoilers) but it’s the closest thing to it I believe Akaza can see anything that enters his compass where ass tanjiro and yorouchi can see literally everything around them in the see through world.
@@Fear999. his compass don’t see nothing, it DETECTS battle spirit, like a magnet, it sense any attacks that comes within range, see through actually SEES, it’s like the Byakugan but limited to only the human body, and instead of viewing chakra points it views organs and muscles

Yes, I don’t think he considered how boastful douma was being in all his showings and even ppl who aren’t in the same level as say tanjiro during the infinity castle arc were at the very least defending and surviving against doumas BDA. Akaza clearly could’ve killed two hashira level characters who have see through world, non self state, demon slayer marks, and red blades.

One thing to note though, is although doma said he chose not to dodge, it didn’t appear that Akaza really tried to do all that much either. He just back handed him from a standing position, he didn’t really go after him. That said, good video! Cheers

I don't think making them OP was the issue, it's part of the story.
During the upper moon meeting, Muzan said: "Can't you see you're falling in order of who has the most of their humantiy remaining?"

I think Doma would win, and if we are talking about the information about the fights in this series, technically, Shinobu did kill him, but it was only with the poison intake she took everyday. I believe that Akaza would also die from this poison, but I'm not even going to lie, Akaza would probably not even fight Shinobu to start with as he does not kill girls :D

The fact that the main reason Doma was defeated was that he basically didn't care to regrow his head says enough. Easy W for Doma even though I hate him and would be 100% backing Akaza.
You can say the same about akaza. he literally killed himself you can see Ater his head cane off from tanjiros head he blow himself up with his own power after saying he "lost"

But it still stands that Doma doesn't have any feeling so all of Akaza's abilities would have no effect against Doma. It's like an insect without its antennae..completely blind which is what Akaza's abilities are very akin to...the senses of an insect.

@@austinallen1775 Okay, that's fair but it still doesn't change that in a 1 on 1 setting Akaza vs Doma. Doma would beat Akaza 9 times out of 10. It wouldn't even be close. Doma counters Akaza's abilities and he is faster than him.
The difference when they died is that Doma did not care to regrow his head because he is a psychopath. Akaza gained the ability to re grow his head but chose to die instead. Big difference there regardless of what was said or speculated.

doma already beat akaza in a blood battle and took #2 from him. It’s up to the winner of the blood battle on whether or not they want to let their opponent live or not.
You forgot one major thing that would make this fight absolute:
One of Akaza's best abilities, the Compass needle, is *completely* useless against Doma.
The compass detects and senses his opponents battle spirits, but with Doma, he has no emotions and no battle spirit at all, during a fight, Doma would be completely invisible to Akaza and he won't even be able to sense or detect him, nor his clones that are also not detectable by it.
Doma would slam him without much difficulty, he's countering perfectly every ability Akaza possess

I think that the fog would affect Akaza, wouldn’t cause necrosis like live tissue but it’s still very powerful possibly slow his movements and distract him #doumaforlife
Not gonna lie I think if Rengoku managed to get his mark in the battle with Akaza, then he would have stalemated. I don’t think it would be enough to kill him, but defiantly enough not to die.

@@Umn911 I didn’t say Rengoku would win, I just said he could have survived until daylight with his mark. Rengoku is not the weakest hashira either. If you look at Tengen Uzui, who could barley fight upper moon 6 without getting his arm cut off, then I think it’s fair to say that Rengoku is not the weakest. Also Mitsuri couldn’t defeat Hantengu even with the demon slayer mark. The fact that Rengoku could last as long as he did with Akaza proves that he is not the weakest.

@bonafido Tengen is much stronger than Rengoku, you put Rengoku in the same situation as tengen and he is going to die almost immediately. Dude had to protect his three wives, multiple civilians and three lower level demon slayers while being poisoned and losing a arm.
Demons do have lungs so after a while the ice might start freezing him from the inside out and the ice shards would do some damage so he would constantly need to regenerate and it might slow akaza down a bit. Also, douma has insane regeneration. Even better than akaza.
This is what i think, akaza’s strongest attack was compass needle which is amplified with the opponent’s emotions this is why he took down rengoku, but douma? Yeah that guy is a sociopath
I think they should rework the infinity castle arc, i think it would be good to freshen it up a bit since the upper ranks were too op
The problem is that we *never* get to see Douma and Kokushibo go all out.
The former didn't take his *only* real battle in the series seriously until he realised his own carelessness was about to get him killed
And for the latter, he basically just *gave up* after he realised that any vestige of honor he tried to keep was a sham.
Not trying to crap on Akaza, but they had good reason to not take his threats seriously. The power gap between thr Upper 3 was *exponential* to say the least based on what little we see.

He fought seriously, but going all out wouldve meant hed fight like a demon fromnthe get go, exploit his regeneration to get more opportunity to strike instead of breaking through their style with sword skills and BDA only, and remember while Douma toyed with the weakest Hashira, Kokushibo blitzed like the 4th strongest Hashira in Muichirou behind Giyu Sanemi and Gyomei, in litteraly 2 moves, CASUALLY, the Hashira's were going all out while he was showing off his breathing style.
He wouldve been going all out had he fought post regenerating his head (which temporarly made him weaker due to the energy used to regenerate) but that didnt happen
It’s no question that Douma would win. The difference between the upper moons is big enough for Douma to take the win no doubt.
Akaza based on what kokoshibo and muzan said about him after they had sensed he died was well on his way to becoming a demon on there level at the end of the fight with giyu and tanjiro he was capable of regenerating his head something we don’t know if doma could do if he had the will to live I believe he would have been above doma.
Nope doma was gonna do the exact same thing but did not due to his emotions.

Love how the narrative is going out of its way to portray Akaza as the closes to Muzan and Kokushibo via the fact that Kokushibo acknowledged Akaza and the fact that he got stronger in the fight to the point of reaching his level while we get nothing for Doma. Doma also WHILE DYING directly puts Muzan as the gold standard because of his strength and inability to die from beheading then also ACKNOWLEDGES that Akaza was the closest one to reaching that level aside from Koku. So here we have 2 instances where Akaza is being shown to be the closest demon to Koku and Muzan’s level one from Doma himself but I guess reading the narrative and ignoring upgrades that a character gets is wrong. Braindead take.
@@shugen6397 You watched this entire video literally explaining why Doma was stronger than Akaza and yet decided that your fanfiction was more comforting to you. Akaza didn’t reach Kokushibo’s level, him being angry at losing to Tanjiro and Giyuu didn’t suddenly bridge the gap between him and UM1.
You told the guy above coulda woulda shoulda but that’s literally your entire argument; that on his deathbed, Akaza suddenly became UM1 level but he still fucking died lmfao. Him and Doma weren’t even under the same circumstances. One was poisoned and one was simply beaten. Again, 2 is closer to 1 than 3 is. It’s really not the hard, I get that Akaza is your fave but headcanon isn’t gonna change reality. 😂

Fun fact: Muzan has 3 favorites in the upper moons, those being gyutaro, Akaza and kokushibo. Muzan hates doma and the only reason why he's alive is because of domas eyes, Muzan believed that because of his special eyes he could unlock the ability to walk in the sun
Doma would easily beat Akaza and Akaza knows this or he would have fought him since Doma represents everything Akaza hates (besides strength).
Doma basically has everything Akaza has and more. He has stronger regeneration (due to consuming so many women), he is faster, his blood demon art is effective against melee and breath users, and because he feels no genuine emotion, he has no "will to fight" and thus Akaza's compass needle wouldn't even work against him (though this did actually cost Doma in his battle with the Demonslayers since he didn't have the will to regrow his head and was just like "meh"). Doma simply is both stronger personally and has the means to control the battlefield with his blood demon art. He is pretty OP generally, but is especially strong against someone like Akaza.
Doma represents power achieved through immoral means (consuming women), and Akaza refuses to cross the line that would make him more of a match for him, and thus he is not just weaker, he is much weaker.
Which is also interesting given it completely goes against his "survival of the fittest" demon mindset, and thus hints at a deeper meaning to his quest for strength which is revealed in his backstory.
Oh Yeah, Douma would always eat women, so no matter how hard Akaza trained Douma would grow much faster, he is younger and stronger...

@@Warrengarth Doma only doesn't replicate Akaza because he is indifferent to his own death. It is straight up stated that Akaza's will is so strong he forced his body to regenerate. Doma doesn't give enough of a shit to do the same thing. He straight up thinks it and then is like "meh"
But that is in the special situation of being decapitated by a nichirin blade and has absolutely no connection to general regeneration which is a product of a demons power which is increased by consuming humans - particularly women - which Doma has consumed far in advance of Akaza.

Again always underestimating shinubo, she is an intelligent and preparation type, not brute force. Remember she in tandem with tamayo was able to create poison that greatly weaken muzan (poison, humanization, aging, cell division prevention and destruction. Imagine if she used it to any demon moon....
Important to point out we never see Douma fight seriously. Not to mention he was incredibly weakened from Shinobu's poison. Plus im pretty sure if Akaza and Douma fought in a blood battle, Douma won't spare him and would absorb him out of love.
If the Little girl that Muzan Kibutsuji was holding when he first met Tanjiro was actually a Demon/Human hybrid child of Muzan how would this have effect the story?

Don't forget Akazas compass needle... which doesn't actually work against Douma because douma is essentially entirely apathetic meaning he gives off nothing or near nothing

Even Gyomei couldn't solo upper moon 1 and I believe he is the strongest stone piller Hashira and one if not the strongest hashira in over 300 years which speaks volumes. We know Gyomei is wayyyyyy stronger than Rengoku at his strongest it tells me probably nobody could solo upper moons 1-3.

If we're talking in terms of straight up physicality, Akaza makes Doma look like a kitten. The *only* reason Doma outranks him is by virtue of Demon Blood Art(s) which make Doma's overall lethality greater than that of Akaza.
But, if you somehow sealed their demon blood arts and told them to take on every Hashira at once, Akaza will still give a tough fight while Doma will get ripped apart.
However, I do think that if Kokushibo decided to train Akaza to use Moon Breathing(assuming Akaza was compatible and had an affinity), Akaza could absolutely shred Doma. But Muzan probably doesn't let that fly- most likely because he fears getting ganked with his guard down by Kokushibo and Akaza if they decide to bring Nichirin blades home. He doesn't want his favorites turning against him.

Okay, how are akazas abilities not impressive? His compass is literally one of the best type of hax in demon slayer. It allows him to not only sense the strength of a person at a glance but also be able to predict incoming attack before he even perceives it. It also amplifies his attack potency as his compass pulls his shockwaves towards his opponents vitals essentially making all of his shockwaves homing. They never miss (unless you have selfless state of course) which is insane and undoubtedly impressive.

We are seriously underestimating Akaza. If we have to compare both, we need to study every aspect.
1. CQC (close quarter combat) =>
Akaza is a seasoned martial artist. He already had demon level strength when he was human, and became an even bigger menace when he was turned into a demon. Doma isn't a seasoned fighter as much as Akaza. Yeah, he learnt Tessen Jutsu and mastered it while being a demon, but it wouldn't even come close to Akaza's mastery in martial arts. Akaza was climbing ranks even before Doma was born. Almost a century difference. But, Doma's CQC abily does rival Akaza, it is safe to say, Akaza wins medium diffs in CQC. 1-0
2. Battle Experience =>
Akaza has more battle experience than Doma. Nearly a century's worth gap. Akaza was already rising the ranks even before Doma was born. And we all know experience beats every other skill. Cough, cough... Muichiro, cough cough,... kokushibo. Akaza even has battle experience fighting Kokushibo. Need I say more? Again, easy dub for Akaza in terms of battle experience. 2-0
3. Life as Demons(training and possible routine) =>
Akaza is just like Kokushibo. He would always try to better his skills on a daily basis to become stronger. We all know what happened after Kokushibo defeated Akaza. During the Upper rank meeting, Akaza says that he will kill Kokushibo one day. Meaning, this is direct proof that Akaza is training on a regular basis to better himself. Can't really say the same for Doma as he's busy with his desciples and munching on women. Akaza in the mean time I'm guessing would be training day in and day out. Sure, both were mopping Hashira brain matter from the floor all the years as demons, but Doma is such a care free guy. I just can't see him having the same motivation as Akaza. So, Akaza wins again. 3-0
4. Fighting spirit and will power =>
Akaza had the will power to regenerate his head even after getting beheaded. The only other guy with such a feat is UM 1. Yes, of course if Shinobu's poison is enough to obliterate Doma, then Akaza is no exception. BUT, even if Akaza loses his head in his fight against Doma, he would get back even stronger. Again, we can't say much about Doma's fighting spirit, as it's never mentioned. Even during his final moments, Doma accepted defeat, and even looked up to Akaza and wanted to regenerate his head like him. But he just gives into his defeat. This is a huge dub for Akaza. 4-0
5. Mentality =>
This is where Doma excels. I see Doma as the "Joker" and Akaza as the "Batman" of the Demon Slayer universe. Batman would mop Joker's brain matter off the floor in terms of combat ability. But what makes Joker such a pain in the ass for Batman? He's crazy, he's unpredictable, he's insane, sick in the head, he's manipulative to the core, he's just a sly bastard, he's just a huge pain in the ass despite not being physically gifted like Batman. But in the case of Doma, he's just like Joker mentally and he is physically gifted as well. Just like how Batman's battle experience and combat abilities don't matter against Joker, and yet Joker remains as the greatest enemy to Batman till date., Akaza's battle experience just goes out the window for the most part. This is a huge dub for Doma as the fight would not be so straight forward. Doma's nature is just too OP to handle for Akaza. That unpredictability factor is just OP. That would be the main contributing factor as to why he rose to UM 2. Huge dub for Doma. 4-1
6. Demon Arts =>
Doma's DA is very diverse. He is very balanced fighter in close quarters, mid range and long range fighting. His DA is just too good. In comparision of DA between the two, I like to think that it's similar to Zenitsu vs Kaigaku. Zenitsu honing his 1 skill to the utmost perfection, but Kaigaku excels at every form of his DA and his Breathing. Diversity and mastery, both play a huge role in fights. Even Zenitsu had to resort to his hidden 7th form to finish off Kaigaku, because all the training and mastery he had on the first form just wasn't enough to bring down Kaigaku. He needed diversity. Same goes to Akaza vs Doma. Doma is just too diverse and unpredictable to handle.
But, Akaza's ability isn't to be underestimated. No matter how many Ice clones doma produces, Akaza would just delete them out of existence with one punch. The main problem is when he has to fight multiple clones of mini domas and doma himself at the same time. Safe to say, it's medium diffs win to doma. 4-2.
7. Comparison with UM 1=>
UM 1 is just the perfect scaling for testing abilites between the 2. Kokushibo has mastery of Akaza and the diversity of Doma, both in one. Just to think that is just absurdly OP.
I'd say Akaza's brute strength almost rivals Kokushibo atleast upto the 1/2 way mark. Just, hear me out. I'd like to think that, the only reason Akaza lost to Kokushibo is because Kokushibo had other abilites that Akaza just doesn't have - Demon slayer mark, 16 diverse forms of moon breathing, his prowess, his speed and agility, his mental fortitude, everything else, Kokushibo just destroys Akaza. The only factor even rivaling Kokushibo would be akaza's brute strength. And that too it would be just medium diffs win for kokushibo at the most.
Same goes to Doma, doma rivals Kokushibo in terms of abilites upto the half way mark, but loses badly in terms of mastery.
Both would put up fairly a good fight against UM1, but I think Doma is even a bigger annoyance to Kokushibo than Akaza. (4-3)
8. Battle feats =>
Both toy with their prey in Hashira slayers. Akaza toys with an unmarked rengoku, Doma toys with an unmarked Shinobu.
In the infinity castle arc, Akaza holds his own against marked Giyu and marked Tanjiro with see through world, red blade.
While Doma fights unmarked Shinobu, and holds his own against 2 hashira level slayers against Inosuke, Kanao after getting nuked to oblivion. This feat is just too under appreciated. Fighting 2 Hashiras while being on your knees with just small ice clones?. That is one big fat W for Doma. (4-4)
So all in all, it's really hard to say who takes the cake in this battle. But I'm leaning towards Doma. Just because even Akaza didn't go for a blood battle against Doma even when Kokushibo mocked him openly. Even Akaza thinks twice before taking Doma. konwing Akaza, he would apply for the blood battle on spot if he were confident. Even Akaza knows Doma is too pwerful for him to take down at the moment of the Upper rank meeting. But it's really hard to tell. It may go both ways.

to understand who would win in a fight between akaza and douma, we need to look at their speed, strength, BIQ and many other things that akaza has douma beaten in except BDA, douma's BDA is cyrokinesis which allows him to create ice sculptures / icicles that are deadly to the lungs of both humans and demons and douma can summon mini versions of himself with his BDA but akaza's BDA is soryu fighting style and shockwave-like punches which gives him an upper rank in range but Douma has larger speeds than akaza but in the end, akaza would win, purely because his BDA is much more powerful as it gives him an insane boost in BIQ, speed and strength from his Annihilation technique and his compass needle technique

Yes akazas abilities arent flashy or anything but what will Doma do to him?
1. The icy mist is mainly meant to stop the breathing techniques of demon slayers, well akazas doesn't use those anyways.
2. The mini Domas well they surely are annoying but I guess akazas would probably crush them if he hit them (he punches though Rengoku and as surprising as it is that's harder then punishing though an ice survive, not to forget he breaks through stone and wood anyways. Due to his compass I doubt they would even be able to cut him anyways.
3. The big Buddha well it's again great for defense but ultimately won't kill akaza.
4. Doma actually dies if he is beheaded while akaza doesn't care.
I would guess Doma is a higher rank because he can fight slayers more efficiently not because he would beat akaza 1v1
It's also easy to stay confident and cocky if you know that the other person can't really harm you anyway (since muzan wouldn't allow it).
