  • Porsche makes some incredible cars, unfortunately they don't build cars for me. This video goes over my experience in the GT2RS and why I won't own a Porsche after driving it.

I own one by the way and think they are spectacular. Had many similar cars including a 3RS but I’m familiar with powerful 911’s owing turbos new and old (930) for many years so I’m biased but only the 2RS for me!

John, I don't have one but sat in many Porsches before. Unfortunately have not sat in a GT2RS and that is their flagship. My impression is that they all handle great. My most recent experience was with a Carrera 4S that has great handling and acceleration. The dual clutch transmission is incredibly fast too. May be worth a second take when you have a chance.

an interesting take. i've ridden in a gt3 on track and i felt the opposite- i could feel the grip that each tire had at any given moment, even as a passenger. i could feel when the driver was exceeding the scrub angle and which way the tires were pointed. it was incredible.

Had a great time there with you guys at Speed Vegas for SEMA that week and thanks for letting me tag along. The cars there were pretty sweet and enjoyed the tech you shared with me.

Unfortunately I can't agree with anything you felt tracking a GT2RS....I'm an owner so obviously somewhat bias but, they are truly the best car ever built, in my opinion, for the daily driving/track application.....just my .02

I never liked PORSCHEs, they have no spirit.

Well could be that the car was just worn and on bad tires, and while porsche has badly milded their cars thanks to Paul walker, who wasnt even driving and the guy who was had a 500 horsepower monster on damn near 10 year old rubber, generally they dont make a GT2 feel that numb,
granted I've never really felt too positive about modern porsche in a nutshell really, as they make too many versions, with too many options and choices, to the point where your never sure if your getting a good one, and their just not unique like they used to be, like you always feel like your being fleeced for the porsche name
and like you never get the full experence unless you pay through the nose for the top dollar one
also I must admit just looking at their website, i would have gone with the STO instead for that price point, and at lowers, the Z06 and the GT500, hell they even have the new maserati there
although honestly most are too fast for normal drivers, like that STO actually looks like a proper lambo, while the gallardo looks like what it is, nothing more than a v dub in a cheap suit
like I'm good but yeah that whole thing about what Richard Davis said about someone throwing you the keys for a black one in the countach video, really does apply to that one

Watch Randy Pobst at Road Atlanta in the 2RS. It’s clearly one of the best modern day Supercars in his opinion.

Randy is a very talented driver, and Porsche is more suited to his driving style, just not mine. He's always had problems with Vipers and I love how those drive. Just personal preferences.

Indeed, and agree it’s quite a polarising car for sure. Great channel by the way.

Thank you! I was really hoping to love the car. I think I need to try some other Porsches before I give up on them🙂

I think you just drove the wrong Porsche John. It is entirely possible that the front end alignment or ride height was was off; it is not uncommon for the adjustable suspension to become out of whack during shipping and I know several guys who have experienced that. I’ve driven plenty of Porsches at the track and have never experienced lack of feedback or braking issues, so I dunno… I think you’re more of a GT3 guy. :)

Thanks for that information! I'll gove the GT3 a try at some point as see how I like it.
