  • Firmware 4.10.0 is here and boy is it a good one! Users now have the ability to use the AtGames 'OTG' (On the Go USB) Feature and can connect their Raspberry Pi devices to the AtGames Legends Ultimate Controls (Player 1 side only for now) and be up and running in minutes! Fantastic improvement vs. Bluetooth connecting the Raspberry Pi to the AtGames Legends Ultimate Controls! This is a more stable connection and a more enjoyable experience!
In this video I am using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and tested connecting a Recalbox and a Retropie image without any major issues except sound quality.
Note: If you are updating from our open beta firmware, please perform a Factory Reset before updating to this release. Steps for Factory Reset can be found here: arcades.atgames.net/faq/.
    Highlights
Extended OTG support to more devices such as Raspberry Pi.
    Settings
Consolidated “Network Test Kit” and “Server Map” in Settings.
    Miscellaneous
Added reset option to advanced configs in in-game menu.
    Minor UI improvements.
    General performance and stability improvements.
    Known Issues
OTG mode may reverse the P1/P2 controls occasionally, reseat the USB cable should reorder the controls, this will be addressed in a later release.
Unable to change local video file for Attract Mode.
In some cases, ArcadeNet boxarts will not load until the user navigates to the next page.
    Additional Notes
The clock will reset after power cycles due to hardware limitations, but it will automatically sync to the internet when the ALU connects.
Control Mirroring only applies to ALU controls, not external controllers.
Some add-ons will not run after the system has been left running for a while. if this happens please try again after a power cycle.
The left-most USB port will not read USB drives when in OTG mode.
When external devices fails to pair to the ALU in BT Device mode, please change to BT Host mode, disconnect the device, and try again.
Data Manager will show a non-zero number after clean up due to internal data.
OTG feature on Raspberry Pi was verified using the following images, other images/devices may require additional settings to work with the ALU.
    RP3B+: RetroPie v4.5.1
    RP4: Lakka v2.3.2

Pdubs, a couple things, A trick for volume if you're using Libretro emus with Retroarch, you can go into Retroarch, Audio/ Increase DB level. (it will increase some to get you to a reasonable level) Also, for arcade, you could also go into the Dip Switch/Test menu and increase volume for most games that way. Second, i didn't understand what that meant, "you were short 1 button? Retropie I believe only requires 4 joystick moves and I believe 2 buttons, all other can be skipped. Which button is short? Are you referring to the 2p Credit button? (i can't speak for what recalbox requires for button setup)

    • @therexershow
      @therexershow Před 4 lety +4

PDubs Arcade Loft Ok. A couple tricks in RetroPie. Set or skip the credit button to anything else, then you can go into the joypad.cfg file and manually change the start and credit button for 2p to the same button, or just set the credit button to “nul” or remove it altogether. The credits from P1 should be fine in almost every case. If you did make credit and start the same button, It will add a credit and start at the same time. All joystick.cfg can be manually changed. And technically you don’t need a hotkey for P2 if your P1 has the hotkey and working for every UI hotkey combo.

I can't find any reference to joypad.cfg for retropie.

I bet using a pc with a graphics card i.e. using nvidia sound through a single hdmi cable would solve the sound issues. Seems like the arcade legends or raspberry pi has a weak DAC. Might be a better investment just buying a nvidia shield vs running a raspberry pi 4. Usually when running pi with arcade speakers like the ALU you have buy a cheap DAC with a volume knob on amazon. Sounds like ALU team did not plan for this issue and hope it can be fixed on the main ALU cheap cpu they used

This cabinet has many functionalities my friend! Because you can do so much, Stream, Play Games On Demand (Arcadenet) Play the included games on the cabinet, play games off a flash drive, play games through Fire Sticks, Computers, the works you have to understand the system needs to know what type of games you want to play. It literally takes '3 seconds' to turn on OTG Mode (stands for USB on the go) - you have to turn on that mode otherwise the USB ports are waiting for you to do something else with them (i.e. plug in a flash drive) they do not default to being a controller when you power on the machine. It takes 3 seconds to turn on OTG mode, hit the HDMI input button to flip to your Pi and boom you are up and gaming, you only have to map the buttons the first time you do it. 3 Seconds :)

@@PDubsArcadeLoft I get that, but I can do already all you said, on my computer or on my tv in the living room; so the advantage of getting a dedicated arcade machine is to have the convenience to not have to swap things around :)
I won't use arcadenet, nor any of their paid services because it makes no sense at all, when I can stream my games via Geforce now or Steam link in my living room with a 60' display. I just want an easy setup to dump all my favorite games on it and play without use neither the living room tv nor the computer, and if I can have the Raspberry pi connected on the arcade machine 24/7, that's really all I am going to use, considering that the board they use to power the machine has a pretty cheap chipset and you can't even replace the internal roms or make any changes, so the first thing for me when I get the arcade is to permanently replace the internal board with a Pi4, which can play any games up to a dreamcast or saturn system, and can have as much storage I want.
This cabinet is great for the people that have limited ability to set up their own machine, but for everyone else, all you care in the end is the fact that the unit is well built and has decent layout, so you can mod it with better hardware ;)

@@fcf8269 as you pointed out - everyone's needs and wants vary - this is for folks who want to connect a raspberry pi (or even coinops) to their arcade machine without having to gut the original arcade machine using the arcade joysticks/buttons (vs. a handheld controller) for an 'arcade experience' obviously sounds like it's not for you, not a worry at all in my book. Keep Gamin'!

@@PDubsArcadeLoft Indeed it is not for me; as soon as I get the legends ultimate I will just dump the main controller guts and replace it with the RPI instead. I get that the whole point of Atgames is to sell the easiest configuration possible, and maybe find someone that is interested in their paid services; but still the whole cabinet cost less than buying a plain cabinet; so it is still a good deal even if you throw away their mainboard
