  • Back in the summer of 2015, Milwaukee announced ONE-KEY, an inventory tracking platform for their tools. But from the very beginning, ONE-KEY was so much more. It’s made of up 3 very distinct and powerful components.
Milwaukee refers to these 3 separate components as “Customize, Track and Manage”. Today we're going to cover all 3 and tell you a few things about ONE-KEY that you never knew.
PLUS, by leaving a comment below, you'll be entered to win a Milwaukee M18 Sawzall with ONE-KEY!

      Belts And Boxes
For construction it was the manage and track ability. I also offered to put fit customer ladders and job boxes with ticks at no extra cost. For industrial use the ability to dial in the rpm and torque were great for repetitive jobs
And keep up the good work, I love the show

Hi, I have a one key drill so I know and use most of the features. I don’t customize the speed often. But I have all my Milwaukee tools in inventory. It works and I love it.
My coworker asked to borrow a battery. Then nonchalantly asked to take it home and give it to me the next day. ( I believe his plan was to keep it all along)
A few days later I asked for it and he denied borrowing it. He said it was his. I showed him my one key app and he had nothing to say and gave it back.

Initial thoughts on Milwaukee One-key before watching the video:
One-key is a tool customization, tracking, logging tools for commercial jobs, data collection and storage service.
It allows the user to customize different aspects of the performance of their tool to best suit the needs of the job at hand. Some tools supporting One-key take advantage of the platform in order to provide and store data for the user such as crimp level pressure for the force logic tools and statistics for other tools.
The system allows an individual to track the location and service history of their tool.
The system also allows a company to keep track of their tool inventory and streamlines tools that are out in service, sitting in storage, or out for repair.
As an individual who truly loves the One-key customizability, I would love to eventually dig deep into it.
    Post Wathing The Video:
I was close, but I definitely learned something. I did not know about the scan tag stickers nor did I know to what extent you could manage tool inventory.
I got the original One-key drill and and combo kit when it first came out as a gift from my parents when I was about 15.
I'm 19 now, and am currently using that same set to help my dad rebuild our deck and a wooden retaining wall. I had always wanted to get the Milwaukee One-key sawzall, but ended up getting the Ridgit Gen5x combo kit years ago which included a sawwall, so I didn't need to. That was a huge mistake. We are currently using the Ridgid sawzall, but it just doesn't have any power. It bogs down trying to cut through a 4x4 even with a Diablo wood cutting blade. Even with literal brand new batteries, the batteries die after 3 or 4 cuts since each cut can take up to 5 minutes just to go 2/3 the way through. The saw overheats and is a nightmare to use. I guess my dad finally understands why I recommend Milwaukee reguarding every tool.

As a business owner I can definitely see the benefit to having one key and maybe stretching it for the casual or more than casual owners just for the tracking and inventory management but the making your own power settings seems a little pointless and time consuming. By the time you get the app loaded up and the power settings you want you could be half way done with what your doing. Especially if you're a skilled tradesman.

I wish the tracking worked better so that if it was left behind somewhere or stolen, you could locate it better. But I believe more people need to have the app on their phone for that to work. It's a tracking system for tools, that can enable or disable a tool, and also let you find where your tool is. It can also change specific settings inside the tool to optimize operation of a tool for a task. Also, in the operation of the torque wrench (and probably more tools), can allow data transmission for torqued fasteners .

Just bought a one key light (2120-20). It’s awesome that you can control it from the app. Wish every Milwaukee tool had one key baked in.

I didn't realize all of the features available through the OneKey app. Great information! It's not for everybody, but everybody can definitely benefit from it. 💯

I just ordered a 2863 One-key 1/2” impact wrench, and eagerly await its arrival. Thanks for the informative video. I now have to learn to use the app.

I knew about the tracking and being able to lock the tools but I didn’t know you change the settings and functions of the tools. I may need to try some of these things now

I like the One Key on my table saw and 12" miter saw, being able to lock the tool is nice.

The lug nut torque presets on the high torque impact is a huge time saver. Setting 1 is car lugs, 2 is truck, 3 is semi lugs, 4 is destroyer of worlds.

Great video well explained Belts & Boxes - I’ve just subscribed. I have just started purchasing Milwaukee tools for our installers (previously we only used Hilti). This ‘OneKey’ solution really is 1st Class - well worth the extra investment!

One-key is a tool tracking system:
It tracks usage and location, but it can also unlock helpful access to special features of the tool, and so much more. This is so much more than I thought it was.

Hi, I thought one key was simply for keeping track of your tools and their location. Didn’t know their tools had that much customization to them through the app. Very cool

I absolutely love the one key features, because it helps my trusted employees not to damage more material than they already do. I have customized a few tools that my brainiac employees use. Safety is a big deal with me, an the setting were my tools will stop cutting, even when there still holding the power button is fantastic. So thank you for making my day, an the day of my worker's less stressful an the job site safer.
