Nobody really builds or even knows about them here in the US, I'd like to build a big turbo zetec swapped sleeper MK3 Escort to fuck with people out here 😂
YOU YOUNG GUNS make us old ones proud to see what the young british guys have achieved at the pod, as an old timer who used to street race at pod in 80s v8 383 chevette to see what you achieve with these engines on tight budgets I know a lot of us british guys have always been on to get the bhp and times you get out of these engines is a credit to you all I have always said british guys when it comes to getting the best bang for the buck have amazing talent keep on flying !!!
As an American I gotta agree, the power the guys in the UK get out of some engines guys in the US would never even mess with is really impressive 💪 and I Also used to street race a Chevette! 😂 Mine had a stock block/crank 355 on little bit of nitrous, people HATED it!
over two years ago I swapped 1.3OHV for 1.6 Zetec-E in my 1986 escort. Had to replace head gasket and just disconnected MAF sensor and enjoying the ride, man this engine is armor piercing.
Great that you have actually good Zetec content! I love it! I’m building my second one but I just was wondering why is it that no one builds the Zetec with the variable cam timing on the exhaust cam. I understand perfectly that the st170 with the vct on the intake cam can make more power bc of vct on intake but why doesn’t anyone take the Zetec 2.0 with vct on exhaust and either get a custom grind for the exhaust cam if you got bigger cams or just get a really aggressive intake cam and change springs valves and retainers on both sides maybe increase valve size a little bit on intake and exhaust and port the head. Or drill a hole through the intake side of the head for a cam sensor and get the first journal machined to accept a duplicate of the exhaust vct cam and just get a new set of cam caps for the first journal machined and with the design of that vct exhaust cam on the intake it would only take slight oil galley mods in the head to feed the vct pulley on that side as well and a stand-alone ecu. Idk what exactly that model of the Zetec head is with the vct exhaust cam but I’m just wondering why you only see people messing with the 1st gen focus blacktop and the st170 and the only school silver tops but you never see them modifying the blacktop with exhaust vct.
Didn't you do a follow up to this video?,would've liked see how the build went?,from what pistons and rods used and what mods to the head?? That bhp from a standard ford crank is very impressive 👍 I built a zvh turbo about 10 years ago and was told the standard crank was good for 500 bhp. . Like i said very impressed 👍
I've got a 2 liter zetec in my custom built sand rail and was looking to turbo it. The sand really eats up the horsepower. Would be nice to be able to drive it in 3rd gear in the sand.
A cheap way to do is skim the piston tops down but then can only run 1 bar boost,or copper head gasgit us cheap ways to lower comp ,or go all out and fit forged pistons and rods 👍
Great content! I've got a 1.6 zetec, if love to turbo it but I'm told it's more restrictive than a 1.8 or 2.0 engine. What makes it different internet (apart from the size obviously lol)? Will it be in aftermarket ECU? I'm running stock eec-iv ECU on my Escort. Thanks 🙂
I know very little about Zetec engines, what I can tell you is a 1.6, any 1.6, is going to have a much more difficult time spooling even a medium size turbo than a 1.8 or especially a two litre. Larger displacement = more exhaust gas volume = better spool.
Great video and following for more updates. Currently running a 230bhp NA blacktop. Wanting to go down the turbo route so looking to source another blacktop. I know in the video you source a second hand 2ltr. Some people have recommended buying a new one for about 1k. Is there really a need to buy a brand new one or can I get a second hand one?
@@_i-kr6eg Well you're the twat who asked what a transfer plate was and said a manual gearbox when in video he clearly said it came from a auto, should know it's to do with the gear box/clutch side off thing's, what a prick 👎😭
There’s so many underrated engines out there, one is the zetec. Everyone’s frothing over Honda’s but these are the real gems.
I had a 04 SVT Focus, and I never lost to any stock honda.

@@terraboundmisfit I still have my 04 SVT, up on jack stands waiting on clutch parts :/
That was interesting not boring as you thought. Look forward to more.

Look forward to watching the build, not many complete build vids on YT for the blacktop Zetec. I'm just about to swing one into my KA.
Ik ill watch evvery video thou if you post
The more zetec content, the better!
Yeah and all small engines 1.8 duratec turbo's more content the better!
Love my focus mk1. 2.0 blacktop turbo
I like these vids great break down 👍

I'm building one of these myself, I'm having issues getting parts for this thing. It seems most shops in the states quit stocking parts for it

What is a good zetec turbo clutch for type 9 gearbox for Sierra 300bhp
I love my ford puma 1.7 VCT
Can someone help me, does the 2.0 zetec blacktop and silvertop come with vvt or not

Wouldn't buy new, just look for a low milage one from a automatic mondeo bc less stress on engine 👍
Where did u get the aluminum intake manifold on the red car from
I need to knw too.
👍
2:50 lol what a fail man!🤣
How much boost can a stock 2.0 zeta engine handle safely
Easily 2000 turbo power CEO MAN
probably 400 max but u will need a new tranny
What is a transfer plate !? . You mean a flex plate or flywheel is its a manual transmission
It came out a automatic so yeah clutch/flex plate 👍
@@markcozzie what clutch if the auto transmission has a torque converter!!! . Ok troll account and non car guy .
