This is an amazing cause. Lea should be so proud of the impact she’s made on the world. It takes a truly amazing person to have compassion for others, but it is even more amazing to then act on it. People like Lea should be talked about more.

All im going to say is, praise the Lord Jesus, remember the lady with the issue with her blood in the Bible, and she lived with that issue for years, because the Lord Jesus was carrying her all the way. So she couldn't die. And he got healed after she touched the Lord Jesus garment. So my dear sister the Lord Jesus grace and mercy is with you thats why you lived pass the ege of 8 upon till now..

Sickle Cell is preventable if both potential parents are screened before having children. If both parents have Sickle Cell Trait then it is possible for their children to have Sickle Cell which is a painful and devastating disease. If one parent have the Trait and the other parent does not then the child could have the Trait but not Sickle Cell. The Trait doesn't have symptoms. The key is to know the status before having children! Children should be screened at a young age to know their status so that when they get to the age to seek a partner they know the possibilities!
That's a good thought, but how much money would we need to screen millions of Black and Mediterranean descents to prevent the disease? The USA with more spending in Healthcare, not the best though, they only screen black women when they are already pregnant, which is nonsense, but yeah is part of the workup for first pregnancy in those categories. It is a horrible disease, and people usually see those patients as drug seekers here.

I am a older Black woman and I was screened in the USA when I was 12 years old. It is a simple blood test that can be added to all the test that children have to get before enrolling in school! We have to prioritize things, pay for the screening or pay in medical bills, pain and lower productivity and contribution to society because people are sick!
