You have a lot of technical skill. It always bothers me when I watch some devlog channels and they skip explaining the code and all that because they think it is boring to watch. Which it probably is for most people, but I personally really enjoy it. Even though I have no experience with procedural generation, I still feel like you explained it pretty well in this as well as in one of the previous videos. I still gotta learn it at some point though.
Appreciate it, you are right it doesn’t get as many views if I explain it but idc too much anymore, CZcams is just marketing for my game
WE MAKING IT OUT THE HOOD WITH THIS ONE
Yes sir!
We making it out of the castle with this one
Honestly such a huge fan of all your game dev work so far. Your style is what I would aim for myself. Barely have touched game dev honestly. Love all the content man, cant wait to see more. Def looking forward to playing this one!
Appreciate this so much man, more to come!
i know it's oversaid, but it is true.
you've got to start and keep trying. (and i can confirm.)
as long as you're not as lazy as me, you should be fine
I've been following the progress on Twitter and really enjoy all of your previews, but nothing beats a good old-fashioned Devlog that shows how you stuck it all together. Game is looking really good, TJ. I'm wishlisting now!
I always appreciate your support and likes over the months Fodder, hope life is treating you well!
Love seeing this much work condensed into a short video. I think your emphasis on having a realistic outlook is the right approach. Good luck, and great work so far.
Thanks 3bomb, hope you’ve been well
Very cool! You are one of my favorite gamedev channels; watch all the videos you release. Keep up the good work!
Wow, thanks!
Wow, what a amazing progress! I struggled with similar issues and also decided to do fresh and it was really helpful!
Thanks man!
Love your stuff bud, thank you for sharing your content ! Can’t wait to see where your stuff goes !
Much appreciated!
Your videos are consistently some of the best Unity content out there - I really enjoy them. You approach these new challenges in a way that makes it feel accessible
I appreciate that! Thanks!
Very cool devlog man, I’m excited to see the final version of this project!
Thanks man!
Awesome job brother!!! Congrats on releasing on steam! Keep up the good work my guy!
Thanks Isaac!
This is so impressive, congrats on the game so far! You're very skilled!
Thanks man!
"This is like 30 hours of coding in one sentence"🤣 dunno why but i felt that one. Lovin the vid so far man, nice work :D
Haha thanks, so is the life of a programmer
Keep it up teej, i've been watching you since the beginning and you've made a lot of progress, i hope that this game is going to go really good, honestly i would pay for if any price you always make really good games. I tried it myself, and really liked it.
This video helped me a lot and i wish you the bests 🙂
Thanks Dewythking, always good to see you
Keep going dude, you are doing great work even if there are roadblocks.
Your videos are fun and interesting!
You are crazily talented.
I appreciate you watching all my videos today haha! Thanks friend
Absolute banger of a video, wishing you nothing but the best for Castles on Clouds
Thanks dude!
Great video! Game looks very sellable, and also fun, good luck with release! ❤
Thanks man!
Looking good! I will play it for sure
Thanks man!
You have talent! Very fun watch
Amazing work! Glad to see you keep improving faster and faster! Any updates on the tavern game? Is it still being worked on?
No not right now
Looks like a great base to bulid something special off of! I'm sending this off to our team working on a very similar concept for the PirateSoftware GameJam. Thank you so much for sharing your progress!
Thanks man, I appreciate it
I can completely relate. It happened I wanted to practice web back-end development. I wanted to create a simple front-end UI just to call the APIs then I realized I spent hours on adding CSS back and forth instead of focusing on the main task, which was the main scope and the reason I even started to work on this.
Then scope overshooting also a common mistake. But I would say not completly drop your ideas but do some side projects to even grow to that level to be able to make this goal then return and achive it.
Great work dude! Keep it up.
Appreciate it!
Wow amazing stuff TJ thank you for the step by step guide to not sheeping the bed in game dev, keep it up bro
Hahah s h e e p
Cool game, great dev log, right amount of humour. Well done man that's a sub from me for sure
Thanks man! It’s a tough balance to find
8:34 “Remember? No polish”this felt personal
It’s finally out!!
Would love to see some more small projects and then a return to one of your older projects (unless you just need to leave them all in the past, which I would understand). Would be pretty epic to see you return to one though!
Thanks, sorry I think they are all retired
I was afraid of that. In understand that though. Generally you just need to move on. That’s said I still would think returning to a concept after getting more experience could make for a good story to tell on CZcams. Like a triumphant return.
To clarify I’m thinking this would be MUCH in the future. Like, after a LOT of projects
Great advice bro, ur absolutely right with the tips lol. And game is looking fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
Always appreciate you bro
OOOOOH. I was trying to figure out where the song came from. It was so familiar to me, but it wasn't quite Kingdom Rush, or Stick Wars, or Age of War, or any other game I could figure out. Its the same song I used for my own game lol.
Really cool project, looking forward to seeing it when it comes out, I loved Kingdom rush
I'm keen for this game love your work keep it up 😍
Thanks! Will do!
nice to see your back!
Thanks, good to be back
HE'S ALIVE
I LIIIIIIIVE
You should make certain types of troops run on the roads and some just run anywhere then some ships that can move only on the rivers that can bomb your towers/king tower.
Love the ideas!
I hope u did more work on the enemy ship spawn. It should look different depending on the type of enemy
I love the farms. They look like toast which is wheat if you think about it
This is crazy awesome!
Thanks man!
@@TJGameDev For sure, Im obsessed with floating Islands and wave collapes so you partially created one of my dream projects XD
Really great video! Could you point me toward a tutorial or guide that could explain what you meant by using meshes instead of prefabs for the grid outline?
No tutorial that I know of sorry, I just create a new meshrenderer and assign a mesh to its sharedmesh
One thing that might add a bit more visual interest (and would be fairly easy to implement) would be adding pregenerated islands in the background. Just give a bit more to look at instead of the blue sky.
Also, this may just be me, but only ever looking at one game screen kind of makes my eyes weary after a bit. I did notice a shop screen in there though 🤷
Yes, absolutely good idea
2:19 I would love to see the link in the description.
Probably all links from the video, if there are anymore. :)
Taking somthing this far is no joke. Congratulations man.
Thanks man!
Yo sick video, how did you learn to make these scripts, they look very complicated, and how long have you been coding for? Very nice video
Been coding for 5ish years, learned a lot from Sebastian Graves Channel
I was wondering if the thumbnail was a mockup or not, and now I see why it's not. You've got a lot of experience, you made it your full-time job and you bought some assets to make up the rest of the time. You should probably put a disclaimer in the thumbnail itself for those that have never made a game before or have a day job that your technique won't be realistic for them. That said, it looks like a pretty cool game.
Suggestion: A magic enemy that stops in front of one of your towers and freezes it
I like it!
@@TJGameDev but it's evil !
Hes back!
it's a small and simple game. but it will sell well enough.
afterall, it's a game you looked the market for.
a market that may be saturated though, but if the price isn't too high, will generate a correct amount of profit. afterall, there's still some new ones that works.
and your game needs to distinguish a bit from the competition too, as for now, nothing is outstanding. but you may have something in mind ahah.
i hope your game goes well.
Holy shit, Well done.
Thanks as always Nathan!
This is amazing dude, holy shit.
Thanks so much Randy!
@@TJGameDev you know ily bb
Thanks for making this video! As a fellow game developer that feels like a fraud for not making and releasing completed games, I appreciate the advice
Glad I could help!
I really hope you come back to the tavern game, it looks like a ton of fun. Ill definitely try this game too.
Thanks but I won’t sorry
@@TJGameDev 😢 😭
I’m 41 but I want to be like you when I grow up…well done!
Haha thanks
You have a great eye for UI elements. I could use your help in my project, paid work! :D
Feel free to contact me on discord or email!
Yoooo I also wanted to make a game like kingdoms and castles, absolutely love that game
Same dude, work on one for me haha
hahaha one day ;)@@TJGameDev
I subscribed when I heard you listen to Sleep token :)
Alright I’m trying this later today
Thanks Weller! Hope you’ve been good sorry I’ve been a little busy haha
Hey what microphone do you use for your voiceover? Has a nice quality to it
Fifine something
6 months is a very long time for something like this, definitely next time target 3/4 months max
Crazy work TJ! As a developer myself I could see this taking me a lot longer than 3 months or so, how many hours do you put in per week for something like this?
Hahah probably 40-50
@@TJGameDev Wow fair enough, is that with your job as well!?
Will you still work on cave game ? There is not a lot of co op games to slay monsters with friends like a witcher or sth
No
I’m a fan of the permanent upgrades for all runs it reminds me of rogue legacy’s system
Thanks, yeah it is a fun addition
badass
Thanks king
we making it out of the tavern with this one 🗣️🗣️
Cooper you’re the man
is that minecraft villager at 9:48
??
How about an update video 😀 maybe a little tutorial how to implement the agents navigation asset
lol well it’s your lucky day!
The real issue with using assets is not the time investment. The issue is those assets showing up in other games. And it might not mix well with other art in the game. Anyone who is working on games solo will probably have to develop some modelling skills.
Maybe, but I can’t think of any good games that people called asset flips, it’s usually just the bad ones
Wonderful game, but I NEED to know what song is playing at 1:07 ish
jumpman 93!
What about the tavern?
awesome
Thanks man
SLEEP TOKEN!
Love me some sleep token
$40 in 4 hours at mc donalds? You forgot taxes
Can you give the song of the sound track in the trailer?
I’m sorry I forget, it’s under free adventure music in unity asset store. Sorry I can’t be more helpful
Skybox and post procesing tutorial?
Skybox is just a blue material haha
how can I playtest it ?
ALTERNATIVE TITLE: I survived 100 days of GAME DEVELOPMENT and THIS is what happened!
Ive been an solo dev for 7 years now, Ive never ever made a single dev vlog or youtube video at all because Ive always seen how developers who do end up opening an income door for themselves that while on paper seems like a good idea because it provides a gauranteed source of income and instant gratification and community feedback and all that jazz, in reality their focus will gradually become more and more about maintaining their subscriber base and less and less about actually making a successful game. Forever trapped in a cycle of just creating what are essentially tutorial boiler plate half games for the sake of educating other solo developers for the sake of getting views for the sake of paying their bills. Whereas for me, even though I too havent released a game yet, I dont have a shiny golden goose egg called a youtube channel that constantly requires me to split focus and consequently i retain maximum hunger as a starving artist. Time will tell if my approach of secclusion is a good one or not, but time has already told that doing dev vlogs is ironically counter productive for indie solo game developers.
Damn bro developing a game and uploading videos on it, that's a lot of work man do you need a editor to help you out?
I need a thumbnail guy
@@TJGameDev I can do thumbnails bro do you wanna see some I've done?
This is a copy of kingdom rush w better graphics bit I LOVE IT! Plz add more!
Are you still making your horror cave brawler game?
Not right now

Did Freya pay you to mention their shape asset? It's 100 bucks for some basic shapes...
Nah, no need to buy it though
Not too sheepish if you ask me
