These new car prices have gone crazy
The previous One was also overpriced. But it still got sold like crazy 🤔🤷♂️
I agree and there’s no challenge on that.
Agree, no doubt SMMT will express concern soon about fall in new car sales.
Stop being poor.
Because the money has lost its value 30-45% since 2020.
Looks like a £25k - £30k car max to me.
I really wish they would test the base model and not the range-topping! Looks amazing and then you see the base model and it is not as flash!
Base models are never good get the GR or nothing
Might as well buy the RAV 4
Style over substance. Not very practical. And the PRICE? Bloody hell, Toyota can keep it.
At this price, Toyota must not want people to buy this car.
Why are Japanese cars getting so expensive. Yaris 28 k top spec, honda jazz similar price , for small cars . Way too expensive for this hybrid cars. How much money are you really going to save over a small petrol car. Not to mention how many years it will take to recoup the price difference.chr not even practical.
Japan is on its death bed. China will take over
All. All cars are getting so expensive
There’s a demand for more kit in a car plus cars you’ve listed are hybrid cars so the technology for it adds to the price
All cars a damned expensive.
The market has trended toward premium, crossovers and SUVs for over a decade.
This contributed to inflation, and inflation reduces the value of profits hence why every automaker has gone down this spiralling dead end
@@glennchinyangarara8225
Absolutely not
That demand is created by advertising. But crucially, it's profit that pushes all the gizmos, premium build, larger crossovers and SUVs.
And you may have noticed that there's far fewer entry level city cars, and a problem with inflation. You should realise how the value of profits diminish with inflation.
Had two of these, but £38,000 with 5% apr means I’m out.
it starts at 31k, as shown in the video
@@Mgoblagulkablong I’m aware of that. I have the GR Sport, I’m unlikely to replace it with lower spec.
Got my C-HR in 2018 full with 31.000€. Now, it will be 45.000€ and is more or less the same car with few updates.
What model u have? I bought 2 months ago the 2022 13000km on sale for 25000 euros...( Active on the Italian market ) should be the Luna on the UK market
Rather take RAV4 for this price
I love the way it looks and its more practical than the out going, I also the shelf on the passenger side.
I'm just so happy they put a regular handle on the back door. That's the only reason I didn't buy one yet. When is this model coming to the US?
Looks like a training shoe. I love it 😍
Old ones looks much better!
No.
I have a 2021 XLE chr. Was a good price because they didn't sell well in the US and I got enough rebates to make it cheaper than the Corolla hatchback. The pricing on this is just wild. Why not get a Corolla cross if you want practical, Corolla hatchback if you want fun, or Prius if you want style? Pretty much all are cheaper options now
Never thought I’d hear someone say “Prius if you want style” but it’s now true!
@@James-qo2dd I know! They look pretty slick now
@@phillipbanes5484 I think that might be a bit subjective but I do agree the more aggressive stance of the front body appeals to a younger audience. Camrys also moved from a middle aged middle income mans dream to somewhat of a performance luxury car
Having owned a CHR Lime and Orange edition IMO this is a ‘Marmite’ car. My wife loved driving the CHR, me less so. Both cars were very noisy at motorway speeds but town driving was a joy due to the hybrid engine. Both our CHR were second cars and didn’t get driven much which meant constant recharging of the small amp hour 12V battery as this constantly drained even with the car turned off. This problem was so bad I installed a battery monitor as there was no indication in the car’s display that the battery was getting low. Hope Toyota have improved this.
I hope they have addressed the 12v battery drain on the new one.
Had the same issue on the 2023 corolla hybrid I solved this by stopping the remote from talking to the car computer over night. Hold the lock button on the remote for 2 seconds and push the unlock button twice while still holding the lock button down. the LED remote light should flash twice all done. This also saves the button cell battery in the remote. Just push the unlock button on the remote to gain entry to your car. Never had the 12v battery go flat since even after sitting for a couple of weeks.
Gonna be ridiculously expensive.
So ICE cars have reached price parity with electric cars now ?
Hahaha. You are 100% correct. Certainly heading that way.
Luca de Meo, Renault president, told this 2 years ago...
ICE cars prices will top EV cars, not vice versa😢
Was excited about this car and now disappointed that is just to small for most adults that back seat is killer.
Why doesn’t the range topping hybrid get AWD in the UK?🇬🇧
I'm a CHR customer and big fan but, three things I don't like about the new model (1) the door handles being flush prefer a normal handle (2) the honeycomb rear bumper will be a dirt catcher (3) no rear wiper, it ain't going to work with our weather.
So top of the range plug in hybrid is £46k …. 😂😂😂😂
3:20 - Why isn’t the UK going to get the four-wheel-drive version of the C-HR that will be offered in other markets?
Toyota didn’t even tried to widen the rear windows even after they transferred the rear door handles. Still feels claustrophobic at the back. The main reason why I replaced mine with a Volkswagen Tiguan. My kids love the wide window visibility, they can see landscapes and views, they don’t feel nauseated and they are happy.
Starting at 31k for a tiny car like this? The world has gone mad. No a chance in hell this car is worth 31k ffs. Also 193bhp and its over 8 seconds to 60....wtf
Just bought a top end C HR - love it so far
The GR model looks like a beast!
Pricing absolute insanity. Still haven’t seen a new Civic for the exact same reason.
How long is the waiting time?
Gonna need to see it alive.
Say wtever u want the old gen looked btr. It just did. I gotta say tho, they got some rly talented designers especially in Lexus department.
As a few folks have said the price for what appear to be a trendy but ultimately average car seems crazy.
Way too expensive
Awesome review~!
Awesome car.....
Unfortunately, the looks sacrifices its practicality, tho im sure owners won't mind
Why don't they design a little boxy shaped car these days? This car looks amazing and superb but considering practicality it's like 2/10 as the rear window is too small and the rear looks smart in appearance but no rear wiper.. that's an issue for crazy weather here in Sydney. And the price omg!!
As a Belgian i am wondering why this testcar got Belgian plates in this tropical environment haha.
Because they are built in Belgium maybe……?
Not really liking the new styling direction. It looks a bit of a mess as it's over styled just for the sake. It's interesting!.... Toyota GB initially said they would not sell the sleek gorgeous looking new Prius as the previous Prius incarnation didn't sell well here in the UK . I'd suggest it didn't sell because the styling was an over styled in-cohesive mess just for the sake. History repeating itself perhaps? I'm thinking the new CHR will be harder to sell than the previous version. Possibly another own goal by Toyota styling? We'll see. The new Prius is much nicer.
I would have bought this when I was looking for a car a week ago but the rear window visibility is still a big let down. Toyota have already transferred the rear door handles but still decided not to widen or extend the windows a little bit further down the back. So the claustrophobic feel is still the same as before which I really don't like. What's the point of releasing a new one if you're not changing the negative aspect of it. Toyota is yet again failed to listen to the critics of their customer.
Beautiful vehicle and Beautiful place
reliability goes a long way.
What a shame we don’t get the next generation 🥺 I absolutely love the new car 😊 smaller is definitely better.
It isn't smaller, they reduced the length but increased the width.
Amazing Toyota 😊
Way too expensive for me, even at the entry level.
Starts at €42k here in Ireland
@@podge5555 That's a crazy amount
@@666JGNotts I know. Now tbf it’s well specced but still
@@podge5555 To be honest, as soon as they showed the prices, I stopped watching. It's pointless me looking at something I can't afford 🙂
@@666JGNotts I just think it’s crazy how the price of cars have escalated. A few years ago you’d have got a high spec 3 series for this price
Looks nice but echo the sentiment that it's a bit steep price wise, probably better to wait for some second hand ones to start knocking about..
No rear wiper?
But is it a good time to buy? Seeing some scary stories from buyers who bought new in the past 2 years in depreciation significantly more than normal as the motor industry recovers from recent price gouging circus
Does the entry level have the suede in front? Also do we have pictures of the 8 inch screen?
Thanks
We don't have pictures of the 8.0in screen yet, but can tell you Icon and Design trims don't get suede effect on the doors.
Do you believe that you could change the 8 inch screen to 12 later on?
We ordered one, arrives early April.
Not available in the US, just discontinued, we aren't allowed to have nice small car options, big cars only
You can get a Peugeot 2008 for 19k which is about 10k less than this. What am I missing? Reliability maybe but build quality and looks appear the same.
Hopefully they wont sell any and have to put the price down.
Thank you for full debt information
Why you don’t review the Toyota Corolla cross ?
Unfortunately we don’t get that in the UK!
I’m sorry I didn’t know that. It is really a good car.
I bought the " old " version 13000km 2022 on sale for 25000euros....the new one it cost double this price...😅
Me too mate for 26000,but the chic version and it has everything 🎉
Hey guy's has your income increased in last 3 years for 50%? Why have all increased the prices for 50%?
Wow and the price. Volvo anyone?
Also break energy charging
I wonder if it's easy to detect the blind spot with those windows
Previous ven looks way better
Damn wish this was available in the US
Yeah a lot nicer than the ugly box Corolla Cross they told US buyers to consider instead.
For everyone who complains about the price. There’s always a Dacia waiting for new owner.
I hope this is coming to the US.
Yeah...Europeans don't want this ugly crap...🤡🤡
Looks beautiful!
What a beautiful place, where is it??
wtf,.... that door trim and A pillar?????
They finally made it cool and then pulled it from Canada arrgh
CHR is expensive or prius
Toyota design to attract younger people but the interior space aimed at retired couple. So expensive for what it is. Zzz
Funny prices 😂
All are nice except from that ugly front fender and lights.
Price also is expensive...same money you can buy a Camry...come on Toyota!!
The CH-R has been discontinued in North America for 2024. Nobody cared nor misses it.
Still no rear vents or armrest and no mention of electric tailgate which the mk 1 boot is heavy to shut for my mum’s 17 reg. harsh that only 1 front seat is electric. Too pricey without these extras
Get a Lexus then
@@theairstig9164 Rubbish many cars of the same price have auto tailgate and n armrest
The Old One Looks Better
This one’s a proper codge.
Everything cost too much now, and Hybrids are awful to drive.
Might have to swap myself to a VW Golf to avoid the over styling 😂
I'll go for the new Chinese brands that are selling as luxurious interiors for half the price, with longer warranty.
HV is the best choice today.
We should all stop buying cars.I love toyotas.I drive 2005 Corolla but these prices are insaine
I looks alright
Todella kaunis auto on Toyota c-hr 💎 ja tv Petri Juhani saarvio 💙 ja minä olen 50vuotias Mies 💝 ja minä olen auto Mies.
20 month wait where I am
At first sight looks good .But having seen one in the flesh and sat in it .make no mistake.this is Not a family car.it is so small and cramped.there’s no room in the back for any reasonable sized passengers.
They need to make it bigger not smaller geez.
Does this mean a new Lexus Ux will be coming?
NO AWD ?
If you want hybrid toyota go for new Corolla estate that can still justify its price. This CHR is ridiculously expensive and has poor bootspace, sitting in the back is like sitting in a shoe box. You are paying extra for style over practicality.
id like to have this for 22000 quid, please.
No wonder people in Europe/UK buy Dacia and chinese "MG"...
ok for 16-24
We purchased one of the first models back in 2017 great looking car and very reliable. I definatly will not be purchasing this new shape model it is way too expensive and very ugly.
The previous generation looks way better.
You have to be crazy to pay so much for this
I dont need such car istead i want it
these coupe backs on a lot of new cars
loose a lot of practicality just for style ....
Too expensive and impractical . Toyota are having a laugh taking the customer for mugs.
Somehow I like old design better.
the new model is smiling 🌝whilst the old one looked frowned/angry 😠. I liked the old one more, it was more masculine. My opinion of course, I did not see the car in person.
£42k 🎉…. I will definitely choice EU brand
I thought the Civic was bad
For the price, you can now get a Volvo EX30. Toyota's really dragging their hybrid strategy and they're bonkers if they think pricing this over most affordable EVs will get them sold better. Stupidly expensive for essentially an archaic tech.
Chinese software and shocking reliability on geely/ volvo cars. This will drive for 10 years , no issues.
@@deanowarriorthat is the gamble isn’t it. What if I told you the XC40 petrol has the same gearbox as the Lexus? Or the Tesla model 3 has the same NCM cells as the Chinese built XC40 recharge? Or the C-HR inverter is made with China sourced discrete electronics like capacitors and fuses?
@@theairstig9164Made in China for a foreign customer to an agreed spec and quality is different from made in China for the Chinese and local Asian markets to a lower standard. That's what people are getting at. Hence MG still have quality problems. The Great Wall pick ups sold for a short period in the UK were notorious for rust from brand new being another example. If Volvo are having quality issues they need to be careful they are not catering more to the Chinese market than abroad
@theairstig9164 My friend is aftersales manager at volvo and they also do the polestar warranty work as they are sold in shopping centres. 15 recoveries a week on EV cars barely any on the ICE cars, all software related . Chinese cars have a long history of low placing in reliability surveys. I've been in the motor trade 32 years and one thing is certain Japanese cars are the best by far ,Land rover the worst. Also no Lexus parts in an ex30
Ev residuals are catastrophic at the moment, a car costs what you pay for it minus what you get back for it. In 5 years it will be different but currently Hybrid or phev is better.
Looks great!
I feel like in year 3000, only toyota would have survived 😅😂
Ridiculous prices and no back seat room. When will they start listening to what customers want?
The most efficient - Hybrid - ever tested.
Yep…my diesel Megane achieves 60mpg
I thought that was the new Honda civic at 80 mpg
